Zhou Mei walked ahead.

Her hips, encased in a black bodycon skirt, swayed gently from side to side with each step, and her calves, covered in black stockings, gleamed faintly under the garage lights.

Her beige high heels clicked on the concrete floor as she walked to the car. She pressed the car key, and the car lights flashed twice.

Lin Feng opened the driver's side door. "I'll drive."

Zhou Mei glanced at him, handed him the keys, and then went around to the passenger seat and got in.

Lin Feng got into the driver's seat and adjusted it back a bit. When he adjusted the rearview mirror, his fingers touched the mirror and his face was reflected in it. The collar of his light blue shirt was pressing against his neck, and he couldn't help but tug at it again.

The car drove out of the underground parking garage, and sunlight streamed in through the windshield. Lin Feng gripped the steering wheel with both hands, his back ramrod straight.

Zhou Mei sat in the passenger seat, turning her head to watch him drive.

"A department manager at a listed company, thirty years old, two years younger than me." Lin Feng stared at the road ahead, reciting these words as if reciting a text, "A local, annual salary of 300,000."

"We met through a friend and dated for three months," Zhou Mei continued, tapping her finger lightly on her knee. "You're usually busy with work and often work overtime. We meet two or three times a week."

Lin Feng went over these words in his mind. The car turned a corner.

Zhou Mei looked at his hands gripping the steering wheel. The band-aid on the back of his hand had been replaced with a new one; it wasn't very noticeable, but you could still see it if you looked closely.

He reached into the storage box and took out a band-aid.

"How did you get that injury on your hand?"

"I fell by accident."

Zhou Mei didn't ask any more questions.

The car drove for about twenty minutes before arriving at the airport.

Lin Feng parked the car in the parking lot, and the two walked to the arrival hall. There weren't many people in the hall, the air conditioning was on full blast, and flight information was being broadcast over the loudspeaker.

Zhou Mei stood beside the arrival gate, carrying a small handbag in both hands, her eyes fixed on the exit. Lin Feng stood next to her, about half a step away.

People started coming out of the exit.

A middle-aged man in a gray polo shirt walked in front, followed by a woman in a floral dress.

The middle-aged man was around fifty years old. He had very short hair, some graying temples, a thin build, and took large strides when he walked.

The woman had short, curly hair, carried a brown leather bag in one hand, and had her other arm linked with the man's.

Zhou Mei took a step forward. "Dad, Mom."

Zhou's father nodded to her, then shifted his gaze from her to Lin Feng beside her.

That gaze wasn't just a casual glance; it was a thorough, careful look from head to toe.

Lin Feng felt that gaze fall on him and subconsciously straightened his back a little more.

"Hello, Uncle. Hello, Auntie." He stepped forward and reached out to take the suitcase from Zhou's mother. Zhou's mother handed him the suitcase, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment, then on the light blue shirt he was wearing, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly.

"You must be Xiaolin?" Zhou's mother's voice was more amiable than Lin Feng had imagined.

"Yes, Auntie. My name is Lin Feng."

Zhou's father didn't say anything, but just glanced at him again before turning and walking towards the parking lot.

Zhou's mother walked ahead, arm in arm with Zhou Mei. The two women huddled together, whispering something, and Zhou Mei's ears were slightly red.

Lin Feng followed behind carrying a suitcase, with Zhou's father walking beside him, about an arm's length apart.

When he got to the car, Lin Feng put the suitcase in the trunk, then opened the driver's side door and got in.

Mr. Zhou sat in the passenger seat behind Ms. Zhou, and Ms. Zhou sat behind Ms. Zhou. After closing the car doors, Lin Feng started the car and drove out of the parking lot.

As soon as the car entered the airport expressway, Zhou's mother's voice came from the back seat.

"Xiao Lin, Mei Mei told me you work for a listed company?"

"Yes, Auntie. I work as a department manager at Tianlong Group." Lin Feng glanced at Zhou's mother in the rearview mirror; she had a smile on her face.

"Tianlong Group, huh? That sounds like a big company." Zhou's mother nodded. "What's the annual salary?"

"Around 300,000."

"How much is left and right?"

"Mom." Zhou Mei turned her head from the front row.

"Ask what's wrong." Zhou's mother patted Zhou Mei's hand, her gaze returning to the back of Lin Feng's head.

"Basic salary of 300,000, year-end bonus is separate." Lin Feng recited Zhou Mei's words to him in advance without missing a single one.

Zhou's mother said "Oh" and nodded.

The car was quiet for a few seconds. Lin Feng could feel Zhou's father looking at him from behind the passenger seat, but he didn't say anything.

How many people are in your family?

"A family of three. My dad works in construction management, and my mom is a store manager at a supermarket."

"They're all management positions?" Zhou's mother's tone rose slightly.

"Mom, why are you asking so many questions about other people's family matters?" Zhou Mei turned her head away again.

"It's normal to ask casually," Zhou's mother said, patting Zhou Mei on the shoulder, but her tone was different from before. "What about the house? Does the family own a house?"

"There's one, in the old town area."

"The old town," Zhou's mother's voice trailed off.

Lin Feng tightened his grip on the steering wheel slightly. Looking in the rearview mirror, he saw Zhou's father leaning back in his seat, gazing out the window, seemingly uninterested in the interrogation.

But Lin Feng noticed that his ears were always turned in this direction.

Zhou Mei turned around from the front seat, placing her hand on the back of the passenger seat. "Mom, haven't you asked enough? This is the first time she's met you, are you interrogating her?"

"I'm just concerned about you," Zhou's mother snorted. "Your Aunt Zhang introduced you to that guy from the Finance Bureau. He has three houses, and both his parents work in the government."

You said you have a boyfriend/girlfriend, so I need to see what kind of person he/she is.

"mom!"

"Alright, alright, I won't say anymore." Zhou's mother leaned back in her chair, but her eyes were still scanning Lin Feng in the rearview mirror.

The car was quiet for about half a minute.

Zhou's mother spoke again, this time in a gentler tone. "Xiao Lin, you look quite dashing. And you're tall too."

"Thank you, Auntie."

How did you and Meimei meet?

"A friend introduced us," Lin Feng recited, reciting what Zhou Mei had taught him. Zhou Mei nodded slightly beside him, as if confirming his identity.

"Which friend?"

Lin Feng's mind went blank for a moment.

Zhou Mei didn't teach him this.

His fingers tightened slightly on the steering wheel, and he saw Zhou Mei's eyebrows twitch slightly in the rearview mirror.

"She was my college classmate," Zhou Mei replied naturally. "Her husband works at the same company as Raymond Lam; they met while having dinner together."

Zhou's mother hummed in agreement, which was considered to be her acceptance of the statement. Zhou's father then spoke up.

"Xiaolin, are you twenty-nine this year?"

"Yes, Uncle."

"He looks quite young." Zhou's father's gaze met Lin Feng's eyes in the rearview mirror.

Lin Feng's palms were sweaty as he gripped the steering wheel. Zhou Mei clenched her fists on her knees.

"I work out regularly, so... I guess I look relatively young!"

Zhou's father did not ask any further questions.

He shifted his gaze from the rearview mirror to the scenery outside the window, but his brows furrowed slightly.
