Chapter 433 Preparation of Gifts
The next morning, Lin Feng arrived at the company, sat down in his office, rubbed his temples, and took out his phone to call Wang Yue.
"Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, it's time to prepare gifts. Go there this morning and pick out some high-end mooncake gift boxes, and pair them with the company's own nutritional products to make a gift package. Add a customer list to the list, I'll send it to you later."
Wang Yue responded on the other end of the phone, "How are the budget standards determined?"
"We'll divide clients into three tiers. Regular partners will receive one box of mooncakes plus one box of basic products; important clients will receive two boxes; and the core clients will receive a separate package. It's up to you; there's no upper limit."
After hanging up the phone, I picked up my teacup and took a sip.
There was a knock on the door, and Ouyang Qian pushed it open and walked in.
Today she wore a beige knit sweater with a V-neck that wasn't very deep, but it looked quite different from ordinary given her bust size.
The knitwear fabric is very form-fitting, clearly outlining the entire curve from the collarbone down. The waistline is extremely cinched, and the pencil skirt hugs the hips. When walking, the hem sways slightly, and the curve naturally undulates beneath the fabric.
"President Lin, I've compiled all the minutes from yesterday's meeting." She placed a folder on the table. "This week's focus is on finalizing the job responsibilities and recruitment standards for the project scheduling position. I can provide a preliminary plan for the procurement process this afternoon, and the framework for the project collaboration team is also being developed."
Lin Feng leaned back in his chair and tapped his fingers lightly on the table twice. "The Mid-Autumn Festival is just over two weeks away, so we need to prepare the gifts in advance."
He took a folder from the drawer, opened it, and pushed it in front of her. "This is a list of the main departments in Hehai City: Development and Reform Commission, Finance Bureau, Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau, Transportation Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Land and Resources Bureau, plus the corresponding departments of each district and county. It's basically all in here. I've marked the corresponding level and contact person for each person. Go through it."
Ouyang Qian took the folder and flipped through a few pages, then her gaze stopped. Her fingers hovered over the paper, slowly turning the pages one by one, each turn slower than the last, until finally stopping on a page labeled "Municipal Bureau".
She looked up at Lin Feng. "This list... covers almost all the core departments in Hehai City."
"Pretty much." Lin Feng picked up his teacup and took a sip. "From the city level to the district level, basically all the departments with real power are included. Some we've cooperated with before, and some we haven't officially contacted yet, but we can all be matched with the right people."
Ouyang Qian closed the folder, placed it on the table, and remained silent for a few seconds. "I only knew that Shu Ke was relatively successful in securing municipal projects, but I didn't expect the extent of his reach. If this list were released, any engineering company in Hehai City would go crazy."
"That's why I showed it to you." Lin Feng put down his teacup. "From now on, the operations department needs to be involved in maintaining and coordinating these relationships. It's not just about gifts; daily communication, conveying needs, and responding to problems all require a standardized process. You can work through this and see how to incorporate this aspect into the daily operations system."
Ouyang Qian nodded, not asking how the list came about. She looked down and flipped through a few more pages of the list, then closed the notebook and stood up. "Then I'll go and finalize the recruitment for the project scheduling position."
When he reached the door, he paused, turned around, and looked hesitant.
"Ms. Lin, I'd like to ask for half a day off," she said. "I have some personal matters to attend to tomorrow afternoon."
"You can arrange it yourself." Lin Feng waved his hand. "Keep an eye on the operations department. Contact me by phone if anything comes up. By the way, if you encounter any difficulties in Hehai and need help coordinating things, you can let me know. I have some connections in Hehai City."
Ouyang Qian opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but in the end she just nodded. "Thank you, President Lin. I can handle it myself."
She pushed open the door and went out, the sound of her high heels echoing down the corridor towards the office. Lin Feng watched her figure disappear through the doorway, then picked up his teacup and took another sip.
He could tell she had something on her mind, but she didn't want to talk about it, and he wouldn't press her for details.
Ouyang Qian returned to her office, closed the door, and sat down in her office chair. She took out her phone, scrolled to a contact in her address book called "Principal Li," stared at the screen for a few seconds, but didn't dial.
I've arranged to have lunch with the vice principal tomorrow afternoon at a Huaiyang cuisine restaurant near the school. My daughter's school transfer has been stuck for over half a month. I've submitted all the necessary documents and gone through all the required procedures, but they keep dragging their feet.
She dislikes asking people for favors and even more so, she dislikes owing favors.
So she's been bearing this burden alone, without mentioning it to anyone. But she's actually unsure about tomorrow's dinner. The fact that the other party is willing to come out for dinner means there's room for discussion, but whether they can reach an agreement, she doesn't know.
I took a deep breath, flipped my phone face down on the table, and then turned on my computer to start organizing the procurement process plan.
Lin Feng came out of his office and went to the Human Resources Department. Li Juan was typing on her computer at her workstation. When she saw Lin Feng walk in, she quickly stood up.
"President Lin, why did you come down here in person?"
"Sit down." Lin Feng sat down in the chair opposite her. "The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming soon, so let's arrange the benefits in advance. The minimum holiday bonus for ordinary employees is three thousand, and for department heads it's fifty thousand. We'll also hold a lucky draw with three BYD cars as prizes; the specific models will be decided by administration. In addition, we'll give each employee a gift package of nutritional products from the health management company."
Li Juan paused, her pen still in her hand. "The 'gift package'? You mean that new series from the health management company?"
"Yes. All eight products are provided, one for each person."
Li Juan quickly calculated the cost in her mind.
She had seen the sample of that gift package before; the packaging was exquisite, and the products inside ranged from epimedium to black goji berries to cistanche—all high-priced items, retailing for tens of thousands of yuan. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but in the end, she just nodded. "Okay, I'll arrange it right away."
"You handle the car and money matters. As for the gift packages, contact Ma Qingqing directly and have her prepare the goods."
Li Juan quickly jotted down notes in her notebook. "No problem, I'll contact her this afternoon. Also, I'll draft a plan for you to review regarding the rules and schedule of the lottery."
Lin Feng stood up. "Okay, you go ahead and get busy."
As he walked out of the HR department, the employees in the corridor made way for him. He nodded, didn't linger, and went straight down the elevator.
It was already noon when we arrived at He Qianwen's house.
He Qianwen sat on the living room sofa wearing a loose cotton and linen dress. The TV was on, and a female teacher with a gentle voice was explaining prenatal education knowledge on the screen.
Several parenting books and a half-finished pregnancy nutrition cookbook were spread out on the coffee table, next to a half-finished glass of warm milk.
She saw Lin Feng walk in, paused the TV, and leaned back on the sofa. "What brings you here today?"
"I didn't have anything to do at noon, so I came to see you." Lin Feng changed into slippers and walked in, sitting down next to her. He reached out and touched her lower abdomen. "How have you been lately?"
"It's alright, but my appetite isn't very good." He Qianwen placed his hand on her stomach, where there was no obvious curve yet. "The morning sickness has subsided a lot, but I always feel like nothing tastes good."
"What do you want to eat? I'll make it."
He Qianwen thought for a moment, "How about we have the garlic broccoli you made last time? And the steamed sea bass too."
Lin Feng rolled up his sleeves and went into the kitchen.
The refrigerator was fully stocked with ingredients. He put on an apron and began preparing the food. He crushed and minced the garlic, broke the broccoli into small florets, cleaned the sea bass, made a few cuts in it, and marinated it with salt and cooking wine.
He Qianwen leaned against the kitchen doorframe, watching him busy at work. "How's things going at your company lately? I heard we got a new operations director?"
"That's right!" Lin Feng put the minced garlic into the oil, and with a sizzle, the aroma spread. "We had a meeting yesterday, went through the problems of each department, and came up with several very good solutions. Entrusting operations to her has definitely saved me a lot of trouble."
"That's good." He Qianwen watched his retreating figure, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "By the way, my mom called a couple of days ago to ask how I've been feeling lately. I haven't told her about the pregnancy yet."
When do you plan to say it?
"Let's wait until after the first three months," He Qianwen said, shifting her gaze from his back. "She can't help now; she'll just be worrying unnecessarily."
Three dishes and a soup were served: garlic broccoli, steamed sea bass, tomato and egg drop soup, and smashed cucumber.
He Qianwen sat at the table, picked up a piece of fish, put it in her mouth, chewed it, and made no comment, but finished the rest of the fish.
After dinner, while Lin Feng was clearing away the dishes, He Qianwen leaned back on the living room sofa with her eyes closed, resting. The TV was off, and the room was quiet.
Looking out the window, the afternoon sun made the pomegranate tree in the yard shine. Several pomegranates were already ripe and hung heavily on the branches.
Lin Feng finished washing the dishes and came out, sitting down on the sofa. He Qianwen put her legs on his knees, half-reclining, her eyes closed. "Are you leaving again tonight?"
"I'm not leaving." Lin Feng placed his hand on her calf and gently squeezed it. "I'll go over tomorrow morning."
He Qianwen smiled slightly but didn't say anything more.
She rolled over, buried her face in the sofa cushions, and soon her breathing became steady. Lin Feng looked at her profile, picked up the TV remote and turned off the sound, then leaned back on the sofa and closed his eyes as well.
The shadow of the pomegranate tree outside the window moved slowly in the afternoon sunlight, and the only sound inside the room was the low hum of the air conditioner.
