The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 445 revealed the truth.
It was still dark when Shen Qianqian accompanied Lin Feng out of the hospital.
She took his arm in the hallway, and after they left the hospital, she leaned against him, turned her head, and asked, "Why did you come straight here?"
"Isn't it because I'm worried about Grandpa's health?" Lin Feng said. "How long have you been here?"
"It's been almost a week." Shen Qianqian sighed. "My mom called me as soon as my grandpa got sick, saying she couldn't leave the city. I don't have much to do, so I've been staying here."
Shen Qianqian paused at the hospital entrance and said, "Wait for me for a moment," then turned and ran back towards the hospital.
She returned after about ten minutes, wearing a loose V-neck knit sweater with a wide neckline that revealed a section of her collarbone and a large area of skin above her chest.
She stopped in front of Lin Feng, put her hands behind her back, and tilted her head slightly. "I can't dress too revealingly in front of my grandfather, or he'll say I'm being inappropriate."
Lin Feng's gaze lingered for a moment on the barely visible cleavage at her neckline, then he reached out and gently touched her chest with his elbow. "Looks like this is my exclusive perk."
"Come on." Shen Qianqian nudged him with her elbow, but a smile was already playing on her lips. "Let's go, I'm starving."
The two walked along the street outside the hospital for a while and found a grilled fish restaurant on a street corner. The restaurant was small, with plastic tables and chairs set up outside, and several customers were eating happily under the sunshade.
She sat down and ordered a sauerkraut fish, along with two side dishes and two bottles of iced drinks. When the fish was served, the soup was still steaming hot, and the aroma of sauerkraut and the numbing sensation of Sichuan peppercorns wafted through the air. Shen Qianqian picked up a piece of fish belly and put it in her mouth, gasping for breath from the heat, but swallowed it after chewing it a couple of times.
"Grandpa hasn't been sleeping well lately, and the doctor said it's related to the weather changes," she said while picking out fish bones. "But he's in pretty good spirits, and he was noticeably happier today than he was a few days ago."
"That's good. I'll make time to visit him again around the Mid-Autumn Festival." Lin Feng picked up a piece of bean curd skin and put it into the pot to cook.
Shen Qianqian picked up another piece of fish, ate it for a while, and then suddenly said, "By the way, Sister Wanyu called me a couple of days ago and said that she has also returned to Hohai University. She invited me to go to Happy Valley this Saturday. I haven't seen her for a long time. I heard that she has been busy with her postgraduate entrance exam since she came back."
Lin Feng paused for a moment with his chopsticks, then continued picking up food. "She contacted you?"
"Yes, she said she's been preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam since she came back, and she just finished all the formalities a few days ago." Shen Qianqian looked up at him. "Why don't you come too? I can introduce you two. Sister Wanyu is my cousin. She's a really nice person, but she didn't get along very well with my uncle before. It seems like she's come to her senses now that she's back. You'll definitely find her quite interesting when you meet her."
Lin Feng put the bean curd skin on his chopsticks into his mouth and chewed it. He was silent for two seconds, then said, "Okay, I'll go with you on Saturday."
Shen Qianqian smiled happily, "Then it's settled. Don't stand me up. Sister Wanyu has asked me out several times, and I've always declined, saying I was too busy. She'll be angry if I stand her up again this time."
As she spoke, she picked up another piece of fish and put it into Lin Feng's bowl, then lowered her head and continued eating her fish.
Lin Feng picked up his drink and took a sip, his mind already racing with other thoughts. The meeting on Saturday couldn't go wrong; he needed to talk to Shen Wanyu beforehand and tell her not to do anything out of line in front of Shen Qianqian.
Shen Qianqian was completely oblivious to his change in expression, as she was focused on dealing with the fish brain inside the fish head, picking out a small piece of gelatinous substance and sucking it into her mouth, her eyes narrowing with satisfaction.
When they finished the grilled fish, there was still some pickled cabbage and soup left in the pot. Shen Qianqian leaned back in her chair, rubbing her stomach, and said she really couldn't eat anymore. Lin Feng paid the bill, and the two of them came out of the restaurant and slowly walked along the street.
The evenings in Qingyuan in September have already cooled down. The wind blows in from the alley entrance, carrying the smoky aroma of roadside barbecue stalls and the sweet fragrance of roasted chestnuts.
Shen Qianqian walked beside him, with a fist's distance between them. After walking for a while, her arm slowly came closer and finally took Lin Feng's arm.
"Can you come this Saturday?" She turned to look at him. "I forgot to check at the grilled fish restaurant. I've already bought three tickets for Happy Valley."
"I can come. Nothing major is happening at the company. It's also a good opportunity to see your cousin; you two haven't seen each other in a long time."
Lin Feng could only pretend he didn't know him.
"She messaged me last week saying she's starting her master's program at Hohai University." Shen Qianqian rested her head on his shoulder. "She used to be really good to me. When I was little, my dad was busy with work, so she would take me out to play. Later, she went to study in another city, so we saw each other less often, but she would still send me a red envelope every Chinese New Year. When I got into university, she even came back to see me."
The two turned into a small park by the roadside.
The park wasn't large, and there weren't many people at night. The streetlights cast dim, yellowish light in the shadows of the trees. I walked a few dozen meters along the stone path and stopped under an old banyan tree.
Lin Feng lowered his head and kissed her briefly. The kiss was short, but Shen Qianqian kept her eyes closed, tilted her head back, and her fingers were still clutching his sleeve.
After the kiss, the two continued to walk slowly along the park path.
Shen Qianqian talked about her grandfather's condition, saying that the doctor said he was recovering well and would be discharged in a few days, but his resistance was weak due to his age, and he was prone to relapses in the autumn and winter. She also mentioned that her mother was going on a business trip to Jiangnan Province next week, and she was a little bored at home alone.
"Perfect timing, I'm also going to Jiangnan Province next week," Lin Feng said.
"What are you doing over there?"
"We're looking into new energy projects. The company wants to collaborate with manufacturers there, so we'll go over and discuss the specific plans." Lin Feng paused, not specifying which city, "Your mother happens to be there too, so we can have a meal together sometime."
Shen Qianqian nodded, without asking for further details.
After walking around the park twice, the two of them turned back.
The fruit stand outside the hospital was still lit up. Lin Feng bought two bags of fruit and a carton of milk and carried them up. The old man was already awake, leaning against the headboard wearing reading glasses and looking at his phone. He put the phone down when he saw them come in.
"Why did you buy more things? We can't finish them all." He said this, but still asked Shen Qianqian to take two pieces of fruit to wash.
Lin Feng sat down by the bedside and played three more games of chess with the old man. He lost the first two games quickly, but the third game was a long and drawn-out battle in the middle game. In the end, the old man checkmated him with a double rook checkmate.
The old man leaned against the pillows, the wrinkles on his face appearing deeper than usual under the light, but the corners of his mouth were curved. "My chess moves are more stable than before. It's just that I still need a little more refinement."
"I'll learn from you again next time I come." Lin Feng put the chess pieces back into the box.
Visiting hours were over, and the nurse came in to urge him on. Lin Feng stood up to say goodbye, and Shen Qianqian saw him downstairs. The lights at the entrance of the inpatient department cast long shadows of the two of them.
Shen Qianqian tiptoed and kissed him on the cheek. "See you on Saturday."
Lin Feng took a taxi to the high-speed rail station and caught the last train back to Hohai. There weren't many people in the carriage, only two or three in the business class. He found a window seat, reclined the seat a little, leaned back, and opened his phone.
The moment the screen lit up, Xu Momo called with a WeChat voice message.
