Lin Feng placed the teacup on the table and glanced at her.

The other person's expression remained calm throughout, as if they were reporting on a work matter, with clear logic and a well-organized timeline.

But it was precisely this calm that made him feel something was amiss.

"This... I really didn't expect this," he said, his voice lower than before.

"It's pretty dreamy, isn't it?" Ouyang Qian turned to look at him. The light from above shone on half of her face from the side, while the other half remained in shadow. "If I told you something like this, nine out of ten people would think I was making it up."

She leaned back in her chair, stretched her legs out, and crossed her ankles. She was wearing light gray cotton slippers, revealing her slender ankle bones.

"I've never really had any needs in that area," she said, her gaze drifting back into the distance. Her tone was more relaxed than before. "Living separately is actually easier for me. I don't have to serve anyone, I don't have to watch anyone's face, and I don't have to do anything against my conscience to maintain a relationship. My parents don't have any contact with his family anymore. I have a daughter, and I like my job. Isn't it good to just live like this?"

After speaking, Ouyang Qian leaned back in her wicker chair, her gaze fixed on the halo of light from a distant streetlamp. She looked at that lamp, as if lost in thought.

Lin Feng remained silent for a few seconds.

The tea had gone cold; I picked up the cup to drink it, but then put it down again.

"Would anyone still hate that?" he asked instinctively.

Ouyang Qian turned her head and glanced at him. Her gaze didn't waver, nor did it falter because of the question; she simply looked directly at him.

"It's just an instinctive feeling of disgust, a physiological aversion!" She spoke frankly. "The thought of being pinned down by a man just makes me feel disgusted, like something is crawling all over me."

After she finished speaking, she picked up her teacup, took a sip of the cold tea, and her Adam's apple bobbed.

Lin Feng paused again.

He looked at her, hesitated for two seconds, and then spoke, "You're not a lesbian, are you?"

Ouyang Qian smiled and continued, "No. I'm not interested in women either."

After saying that, she put down her teacup and habitually circled her finger along the rim. "It's just a simple aversion to that kind of contact. Regardless of the other person's gender. That's why I don't have many close girlfriends, and even my close colleagues aren't that intimate. I keep my distance from everyone. Once people get too close, expectations arise, and with expectations comes disappointment. It's better not to give anyone a chance to get close in the first place."

After speaking, he stood up and put the teapot and cups into the tray. His movements were very light, and the sound of the porcelain clinking was muffled.

Lin Feng nodded and did not ask any further questions.

He picked up his now-cold cup of tea, drank it all in one gulp, and placed the empty cup on the tray. Then he stood up, moving the wicker chair back a few centimeters with a dull thud on the wooden floor.

"It's getting late, I should head back now." Lin Feng straightened his shirt cuffs. "Thank you for the meal and for telling me so much."

"No need to be so polite, Mr. Lin!" Ouyang Qian also stood up and picked up the tray. "Wait a moment, I'll get you a takeout container. There's so much food left, I can't finish it all by myself, it would be a waste to throw it away, please don't mind!"

Ouyang Qian went into the kitchen, took a food storage container, filled it halfway with sweet and sour pork ribs and a few pieces of braised fish, put it in a bag, and handed it to Lin Feng. "Put it in the refrigerator when you get home. You can heat it up and eat it tomorrow."

"Are you like this to everyone who comes to visit?"

"You're the first person to visit my home," she said as she tied the bag shut, without looking up. "In the past few years, apart from Niu Niu's classmates and Aunt Zhao, no one has come to our house."

Lin Feng took the bag, glanced at her, and said nothing.

Ouyang Qian saw him to the door.

The motion-activated lights in the corridor came on, casting a pale light on her face that made her soft features appear clearer. Standing under the doorway, one hand on the doorframe, the streetlights shone from the side, casting a long shadow across the corridor floor tiles.

"If there's anything else you'd like to ask, Mr. Lin, you can come and ask anytime."

"I'm not that nosy; after all, it's your privacy."

"It's nothing really, I just feel very comfortable chatting with you. I haven't felt this way in a long time," Ouyang Qian said, leaning against the door frame with her arms crossed in front of her chest, revealing a noticeable cleavage. The sleeves of her knitted sweater had slipped down a bit.

Lin Feng glanced at her chest. "You should go inside now. No need to see me off. It's getting windy outside."

"Mmm!"

Lin Feng turned and walked towards the elevator. After a few steps, he looked back again. Ouyang Qian was still standing at the door, one hand on the door frame, half of her body hidden in the shadows inside the door, the other half illuminated by the corridor lights.

Seeing Lin Feng turn around, she raised her hand and waved at him.

Raymond Lam waved his hand and turned back to continue walking towards the elevator.

The elevator doors opened, I stepped inside, and pressed the button for the first floor.

Lin Feng leaned against the elevator wall, watching the floor numbers jump down one by one. The takeout box in his hand was still warm, and he could smell the sweet aroma of sweet and sour pork ribs through the plastic bag. He glanced down at the food container inside the bag; the lid was tightly closed, and no sauce had leaked out.

The elevator reached the first floor, and with a ding, the doors opened.

As Lin Feng walked out of the residential compound, the night breeze carried the sweet fragrance of osmanthus blossoms from the green belt. Standing by the roadside, he took out his phone, found Wang Yue's number, and dialed it.

I answered the phone after it rang twice.

"Hey! Honey."

"Are you free now? Come pick me up and we'll go to Shen Wanyu's place. I've sent you the address."

"I'll be there in fifteen minutes."

Wang Yue didn't ask any more questions and hung up the phone.

Lin Feng put his phone back in his pocket and waited under the streetlight for less than fifteen minutes. A white sedan turned the corner and stopped in front of him. He opened the back door, got in, said "Let's go," and leaned back in his seat to rest.

I only mentioned going to Happy Valley tomorrow to Shen Wanyu this afternoon. I was busy with other things in the office at the time, so I didn't go into details. I know Shen Wanyu well; she's quick-witted and full of tricks. If I don't make things clear beforehand, who knows what kind of trouble she might cause in front of Shen Qianqian tomorrow.

If any of the sentences don't match, things will get awkward.

After driving for almost half an hour, we turned into a villa area. The greenery on both sides of the road was much denser than in ordinary residential areas, and the light from the streetlights filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground.

Wang Yue parked the car outside a detached villa. Lin Feng got out of the car, waved to her, and said, "Wait for me here. It won't be long."

Reaching the front door, he rang the doorbell. After a few seconds of silence, he took out his phone and dialed Shen Wanyu's number. This time, she answered quickly, her voice filled with surprise and delight, "Lin Feng? What made you think of calling me?"

"I'm at your doorstep."

"At the door?" The voice on the phone paused for a moment, followed by the hurried sound of slippers on the floor. "Wait for me, I'll be right there."

Less than half a minute later, the door was opened from the inside.

Shen Wanyu stood at the door wearing a dark blue silk nightgown with lace trim. The neckline was low, revealing her chest skin, and two thin straps hung on her shoulders, revealing a section of her fair calves below.

Her hair was loose, still damp from a recent shower, and her face was completely bare of makeup. When she saw Lin Feng standing on the steps, her eyes lit up, and she pounced on him.
