The next morning, Lin Feng had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, went back to his room to change into a shirt, and put the documents into his briefcase.

When we went downstairs, Vice President Zhang and the key technical staff were already waiting in the lobby. We chatted for a few minutes, then got into a van and drove towards the BYD factory area.

The factory is located in the suburbs of Suzhou.

After exiting the highway and driving for another ten minutes or so, we could see a continuous stretch of factory buildings in the distance. The silver-gray roofs stretched out in the morning light, interspersed with several office buildings, each with its own company logo on its roof.

The main gate has gray stone pillars, and uniformed security guards stand in the guard booth. There is a visitor entrance and a vehicle recognition system next to it, and the display screen scrolls the appointment information for the day.

The van stopped briefly at the visitor entrance, and the security guard checked the reservation information before raising the barrier to let it through. The vehicle entered the factory area; the road was wide and smooth, with neatly trimmed green belts on both sides. A water feature sprayed mist from a landscape pond, making the midday air slightly humid.

Along the way, we passed several factory buildings with forklifts and material transfer vehicles parked at the entrances. Workers in overalls pushed carts in and out, and occasionally we could see a few test vehicles with new energy vehicle license plates slowly driving by on the internal roads.

The car stopped in front of a six-story office building.

Several people were standing at the entrance. The leader was a man in his forties, wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt with an employee badge pinned to his chest, and his hair was neatly combed. Next to him stood a young man wearing glasses, holding a tablet, who seemed to be an assistant.

Lin Feng got out of the car and walked over. The other party had already come up to him and extended his hand: "Mr. Lin, welcome, welcome. I am Lu Jianguo, Deputy Minister of the Business Department of BYD Group. We received the notice yesterday that you were coming, and we have made preliminary preparations. Today, I will show you around the factory area."

"Minister Lu, you're too kind." Lin Feng shook his hand. "We've come here mainly to get a comprehensive understanding of your company's technology platform and production capabilities. We can discuss the specific directions for cooperation later."

Lu Jianguo nodded and led them into the office building.

The lobby has a high ceiling and light gray marble walls. In the center is a huge LED screen playing a corporate promotional video, showing production lines and testing scenarios for various car models.

Next to it was a display area with samples of several models of motors and battery packs. The glass covers were lined with black velvet, and the lights made the metal surfaces shine.

Lu Jianguo led them out through the side door of the hall. Two electric sightseeing vehicles were parked at the entrance, with blue awnings spread out overhead and leather seats. Each vehicle could seat six people.

"The factory area is quite large; you couldn't walk around it all in a morning, and it takes about forty minutes to drive around. I'll show you the overall layout first, and we'll go to the production line later."

Lin Feng sat in the front row of the first sightseeing bus, with Lu Jianguo sitting next to him. Vice President Zhang and the technical backbone sat in the back rows, while another bus carrying the accompanying personnel followed behind.

The car is very quiet after starting and moves smoothly along the internal road.

Lu Jianguo turned to the side and pointed to a factory area in front of him, beginning his introduction. His tone was calm and familiar, not too formulaic, and he would occasionally add his own insights when discussing a technical detail.

"That's the battery assembly workshop. Currently, it mainly produces the second generation of blade batteries, which have increased energy density by about 15 percent compared to the first generation. The safety test indicators are also among the best in the industry." As the car passed a long, narrow building with white walls, he pointed to the sign in front of the door. "This is a joint venture R&D center we built with Europe. It mainly conducts pre-research on the next generation of solid-state batteries. Currently, it is still in the pilot production stage, and mass production will probably take another two to three years."

The car passed through the passageway between several factory buildings. The glass curtain walls on both sides reflected a silvery-gray light in the sunlight, revealing the scene of workers and robotic arms working together on the assembly line inside.

As we rounded a corner, we came across an open-air test track where several test vehicles covered in camouflage stickers were maneuvering around cones and braking sharply. The tires made short, sharp sounds as they rubbed against the ground before falling silent again.

The sightseeing bus traveled for nearly forty minutes, passing through areas including the stamping workshop, welding workshop, painting workshop, final assembly workshop, and several research and development experimental buildings. It stopped three times to allow Lin Feng and his team to get off and take a closer look at several key workstations.

It was almost 11 o'clock when I got back to the office building.

Lu Jianguo led them up to the third floor. The walls on both sides of the corridor were light gray, the floor was covered with dark carpet, and there was a potted plant every few meters.

The meeting room was at the end of the corridor. After the door opened, there was a medium-sized conference room with a long table that could seat more than a dozen people. On the table were bottled water and folders with the BYD logo. There were two large screens on the wall, one showing the group's strategic planning map and the other showing real-time data dashboards.

Both parties took their seats.

Lu Jianguo didn't stand on ceremony and directly had someone project the materials onto the large screen; it was a preliminary cooperation framework proposal.

"Mr. Lin, everyone," he stood up and tapped the table of contents on the screen with a laser pointer, "To save time, I'll go through the framework first. The specific terms are in your folders. If you have any questions, feel free to interrupt me."

Let's start with technology licensing.

As a new entrant, Shuke needs BYD's authorization to use its core patents for its fourth-generation electric drive platform, including motor control algorithms, battery management systems, and vehicle thermal management solutions.

The proposed authorization period is five years initially, with a priority right of renewal upon expiration. The scope of the authorization is limited to the Chinese mainland market and does not include export models.

"Regarding the platform licensing fee," Lu Jianguo flipped to the corresponding price list, "our proposed plan is a fixed annual fee of 12 million yuan, including three free technical upgrades. If Shuke requires additional customized development, the cost will be calculated separately."

Lin Feng didn't speak, but simply nodded slightly.

This figure was within his expected range, and even slightly lower than the calculations he had asked Vice President Zhang to make.

Lu Jianguo continued speaking.

The second part is the equipment procurement list, which includes two powertrain assembly lines, one battery packaging line, and supporting testing equipment. The list is very detailed, with specifications, origin, quantity, and unit price listed for each piece of equipment.

When he got to this page, Lin Feng slowed down his movements as he flipped through the folder.

He quickly scanned the total price column, mentally reviewed the quotes for similar equipment from CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), and recalled several production line transfer information sent from Tianlong. Although the specifications were not as high as BYD's system, the prices could be used as a reference.

His finger stopped on the price list.

"Minister Lu," Lin Feng looked up, "Regarding the technology licensing, we approve of this framework. The annual fee is twelve million, with an initial term of five years. This direction is fine."

Lu Jianguo relaxed his shoulders slightly, just about to reply.

"But regarding equipment procurement," Lin Feng flipped the folder to the quotation summary page, turned it around, and pushed it in front of Lu Jianguo, "according to publicly available prices for similar equipment, your company's quotation is about 20% higher than the market average. If we add in the subsequent technical service fees and annual maintenance costs, the overall amortization cost of the equipment will be very high."

There was a two-second silence in the conference room.
