The car was parked at the entrance, and a construction supervisor surnamed Liu came out to greet it.

The local man, in his fifties, wore a helmet, his shirt tucked into his trousers, his belt pulled high, and his face was full of wrinkles when he smiled.

He shook hands with Lin Feng and Ouyang Qian, and led them into the factory area, explaining the progress as they walked: "The existing assembly workshop and painting workshop have the lowest renovation costs. The foundation and main structure are already in place. We just need to remove the old equipment and install the new equipment to use it. The stamping workshop is a little more troublesome, as the floor needs to be redone, but it will be finished soon."

Ouyang Qian walked ahead, her safety helmet a little too big on her head, and she unconsciously reached out to adjust it. She paused at the entrance to the final assembly workshop, glancing down at the newly laid cables on the ground.

"Mr. Liu, how are these cables laid? I see that some of them are laid directly on the ground without any insulating tubing or warning signs." She squatted down and reached out to tug at the black cable.

"It's just temporary power; we'll move it to the cable tray in a couple of days," Mr. Liu said with a smile. "The construction period is only a few days, so it's fine."

"Standardization is even more necessary during the construction period." Ouyang Qian stood up, patted the dust off her hands, "The final assembly workshop already has equipment on site, forklifts are coming and going, these cables are being run over on the ground, who will notice if they get damaged? If an accident happens, it could be a matter of life and death."

Liu Gong's smile faded, and he turned to look at Lin Feng.

Lin Feng stood aside, his gaze sweeping around the workshop. Several workers were welding high up, sparks falling down.

"Engineer Liu," Lin Feng spoke, his tone not harsh, but his voice low, making it particularly clear in the empty workshop. "I understand the pressure from BYD, but safety cannot be compromised. The few days you gained by rushing the construction schedule aren't enough to cover the compensation for an accident. Have all the subcontractors hold a meeting. Cables must be installed on the cable trays within two days, warning signs must be put up, and welding areas must be equipped with safety netting, with no one allowed to walk underneath. Submit a report for any expenses that require it; don't try to cut corners."

Engineer Liu nodded repeatedly, took out a small black notebook, and started writing. Ouyang Qian glanced at Lin Feng, said nothing, and continued walking forward.

After leaving the factory area, Ouyang Qian returned the safety helmet to the gatekeeper. Her hair was slightly deformed by the helmet, and her bangs were stuck to her forehead; she casually brushed them aside.

"This Engineer Liu, he's got that old fox vibe to him." She opened the driver's side door. "You want to bring Zhang Liang along to oversee the project too?"

"Let's talk about it when the equipment installation phase is almost over." Lin Feng got into the passenger seat. "Let him keep an eye on things for now; he just took over his own business at the auto market. But you were right about the cable issue earlier. I'll have the engineering department issue a notice to increase the frequency of safety inspections to twice a day."

"You've already figured out the problem; I'm just saying it out loud." Ouyang Qian started the car, and the air conditioning blew out, dispelling the stuffiness inside.

The two of them barely spoke on the way back.

Ouyang Qian focused on driving, while Lin Feng leaned back in the passenger seat, watching the vast industrial parks rush past the window. After about forty minutes, as they approached the city, Ouyang Qian suddenly said, "If we get back to the company at this hour, the cafeteria probably won't have much left."

Lin Feng glanced at the time on the car's screen; it was already past 1 p.m. "There's a private restaurant up ahead that serves local Shanghainese cuisine; it's pretty good. My treat, pay for today's gas."

"A tank of gas costs more than that." Ouyang Qian turned on her turn signal and still drove in. "But you can treat me, that's fine."

The private restaurant is small, hidden at the very end of a side street. The entrance is just a wooden plaque, which you might mistake for a house if you don't look closely.

Inside, there were two osmanthus trees in the courtyard, and the ground was paved with bluestone slabs. Several koi carp were kept in a water tank. The owner was a woman in her forties, wearing a moon-white cotton and linen shirt. She nodded when she saw Lin Feng, obviously recognizing him, and led them to a small table by the window.

The two ordered a few dishes, which were served rather slowly. Ouyang Qian was not in a hurry, leaning back in her chair and slowly sipping her tea.

"You mentioned last time that you wanted to go to Europe. When are you planning to go?" Lin Feng asked casually, picking up a piece of fish with his chopsticks.

"Next week," Ouyang Qian thought for a moment. "The cook will be back next week, and then I can get away. It'll probably be four or five days."

Which countries are you going to?

"Germany is the focus; we'll spend two days each in Stuttgart and Munich." Ouyang Qian put down her teacup, picked up a strand of vermicelli with her chopsticks and put it in her bowl. "We'll fly in and out of Frankfurt, and while we're at it, we'll check out the automotive industrial park and the used car market there. Tourism is also a form of work; don't think I'm going there just for fun."

Lin Feng smiled.

He knew, of course, that she wasn't just having fun. This woman's travel plans were probably meticulously planned down to the morning and afternoon of each day, and she wanted to book hotels right next to the research sites, while probably not including any tourist attractions.

"However, German is the main language in Germany. English is passable in many places, but it's still not very convenient." Ouyang Qian took a bite of her food and continued, "I originally wanted to hire a translator, but then I thought that I'd be traveling alone, and bringing a translator would just be a hindrance."

Upon hearing this, Lin Feng paused for a moment while eating.

Looking up at Ouyang Qian's profile, I saw her peeling shrimp, her fingers slender and nimble, the shells disappearing in circles with practiced ease. Sunlight streamed in from the window, casting a warm glow on her profile.

"Do you want me to go with you?"

Ouyang Qian stopped peeling the shrimp. She looked up, her expression genuinely surprised, her eyes widening slightly, as if she hadn't expected him to say that.

"President Lin, are you serious?" She put down the shrimp, took a tissue to wipe her hands, and said, "Checheng has just entered a stable period, Zhang Liang has only been here for a few days, and you, the head, are just going to leave like this?"

"It's only four or five days. I can handle things just as well here." Lin Feng shrugged, his tone relaxed. "Besides, I'm a little worried about you going abroad alone. Germany is a safe place, but it's not risk-free. You have things you need to investigate, and I can also catch up on my studies and see how the car market works there. I've never been to Europe before."

Ouyang Qian stared at him for a long while, her eyes unblinking, as if trying to determine whether he was joking or serious. Then she suddenly laughed, a laugh tinged with a familiar teasing and a hint of smugness.

"Mr. Lin, you haven't fallen in love with me, have you?" She picked up her teacup, took a sip, and glanced at him from above the rim of the cup. "It's a little scary for a man and a woman to go abroad alone together."

Lin Feng was both amused and exasperated by her tone. He leaned back in his chair and spread his hands: "Yeah, you found out too late. I knew I was worried about you going alone. I've never been abroad before, so I thought I'd go with you. What are you afraid of? I'm not going to sell you out in Germany."

"I'm afraid of you." Ouyang Qian put down her teacup, her eyes smiling. "But considering your performance yesterday... I'll reluctantly bring you along. It'll be nice to have someone to talk to on the way, and you can also help me carry my luggage."

"Okay, I'll do whatever you say." Lin Feng nodded. "I'll have the office book the plane tickets and hotel. Send me your passport information later."

"I'm going next Monday, just have them book the same flight." Ouyang Qian took out her phone and scrolled through her notes. "I'll book the hotel myself. There are some good business hotels near the various inspection sites. If you're not picky, you can stay at the same one."

"I'm not picky."

"Then it's settled." She raised her teacup, swirled it at him, and clinked the cups together silently.
