The Secret of the Yoga Club: The Women's Identity is Not Simple
Chapter 506 Shen Ping's Conversation
The two got up from the yoga mat. Shen Wanyu took a shower, changed into clean home clothes, and dragged Lin Feng to the media room to watch American TV series.
I picked a suspense drama, but after watching it for a while, I got scared and huddled in his arms, burying my face in his arm, only my eyes peeking out at the screen.
When he saw something scary, he would pinch his arm. Lin Feng said, "If you pinch me again, my flesh will turn blue." The other person chuckled, took his hand off his arm, and instead grabbed his fingers.
It was almost 10 o'clock when I finished watching the episode.
Lin Feng stood up and said he was leaving. Shen Wanyu's face fell immediately, and she sat up from the sofa and grabbed his wrist.
"It's so late, can't...can't you stay?" She looked up at him, her voice so soft it was almost melting. "There are guest rooms downstairs. It's not like we have nowhere to stay."
Lin Feng looked down at her; her eyes were wet in the dim light of the audiovisual room. He knew that if he nodded at this moment, it wouldn't be hard to guess what would happen.
The girl was completely unsuspecting and couldn't wait for him to stay.
But he was perfectly clear-headed; the other person was no ordinary girl.
"I'll pick you up first thing tomorrow morning." He took the hand that was gripping his wrist, gently pried her fingers apart one by one, and then squeezed it again. "The train leaves at 10:30. I'll arrive at 8:30 and take you to breakfast. Pack your luggage carefully tonight, so you won't be in a rush tomorrow morning."
Shen Wanyu didn't let go; instead, she pressed her body against his, rubbing her forehead against his forearm. "Then you can hold me while we sleep, just hold me, and we won't do anything else, I promise."
"I don't trust myself with your promises." Lin Feng squeezed her hand, his voice gentle. "Be good, see you tomorrow."
Shen Wanyu looked up at him, probably knowing that he wouldn't change his mind if she kept pestering him, so she let go and said with her cheeks puffed out, "Then send me a message when you arrive."
Lin Feng agreed.
She stood at the door watching him change his shoes and come downstairs, not going in. Lin Feng turned around and waved to her, signaling Shen Wanyu to close the door quickly, before reluctantly closing it herself.
It was past ten o'clock when we left the villa.
The streetlights outside the car window receded one by one, and Lin Feng drove at a moderate pace. Although Shen Wanyu was clingy, at least she was still obedient.
Given the girl's status, he could approach her, but not recklessly. Some lines, once crossed, can never be retraced; he was still clear-headed.
Lin Feng left home at 7:20 the next morning.
He was driving the Yangwang U8. When he arrived at the entrance of Shen Wanyu's residential area, she was already standing in front of the flower bed next to the gatehouse, waiting for him.
Today I'm wearing a light apricot shirt dress with a deep V-neck. The fabric is soft and light, clinging to my body in the breeze. The hem falls two inches above my knees, and I'm wearing white sneakers. My hair is loose, with the ends slightly blown up, making me look fresh and eye-catching.
She bent down to pick up the suitcase at her feet, her collar opening lowered even further. Lin Feng got out of the car to help her with the suitcase, his gaze sweeping over her collar. She straightened up, saw his gaze, and smiled, a smile that was clearly intentional, but she didn't point it out.
Lin Feng put the luggage in the trunk and opened the car door. Shen Wanyu sat in the passenger seat, and as she fastened her seatbelt, she turned to the side, her collar drooping down a bit. Lin Feng glanced at her and then turned the air conditioning vent towards her.
"It's a bit cold."
"Then I'll turn the temperature up a bit." She reached for the air conditioning knob, her movement so large that her collar opened another inch. Lin Feng shook his head, started the car, and didn't say anything. Seeing that he wasn't taking the bait, Shen Wanyu turned her head and clicked her tongue, then laughed first.
It takes nearly four hours to get from Hohai to Zijin.
Shen Wanyu kept talking the whole way. First, she talked about school, how difficult the projects her supervisor assigned were, and how demanding the senior students in her group were. Then she mentioned that a milk tea shop had recently opened near the school and that the taste was good, and that she would take Lin Feng there when she got back.
Later, when asked if he could take her and Shen Qianqian out for a trip at the end of the month, Lin Feng said he would see how things went at the end of the month, as he was busy lately. Shen Wanyu persisted for a while, and Lin Feng said he would try his best to arrange it, which finally made her let him go.
After the car entered the highway, Shen Wanyu began to get restless.
First, she adjusted the seat to a semi-reclined position, took off her shoes and put her feet on the seat, turning her whole body to Lin Feng's side, occasionally reaching out to tug at his sleeve, or bringing her chin close to his ear and blowing air.
Lin Feng said he was driving, but she didn't care. A moment later, she put her hand on his thigh and patted it lightly twice, laughing and saying, "Your leg muscles are so hard." Lin Feng glanced at her, and she winked at him innocently.
Upon arriving in Zijin City, Lin Feng drove to the municipal party committee's residential compound, following the address given by Shen Wanyu. Two armed police officers stood outside the gate, verifying his identity before allowing him to enter.
The family compound was quiet, with rows of sycamore trees lining the roadside. Sunlight filtered through the leaves and fell on the asphalt road. Shen Ping's small villa was at the end of the compound, a detached house with a few pomegranate trees planted at the entrance.
The car stopped by the gate, and a soldier came up to help with the luggage. Shen Wanyu ran into the yard and called out, "Dad!" Shen Ping came out to greet her, wearing a white shirt and dark trousers, without a tie, and with a smile on his face.
Lin Feng followed him inside. Shen Ping greeted him, and the two sat down on the sofa in the living room. Shen Wanyu went upstairs to put away her luggage and quickly ran back down to pour tea for the two of them. After pouring the tea, she didn't leave but sat down next to Shen Ping, quietly listening to their conversation.
Shen Ping inquired about the recent business situation of the car market, and Lin Feng gave a brief explanation and then mentioned the subsequent plans.
In addition to the existing sales center, the next step is to expand the surrounding facilities, including repair shops, test drive areas, and delivery centers, to create a comprehensive automotive service park.
Shen Ping nodded in agreement, saying that this line of thinking was correct. He picked up his teacup, took a sip, and said that the province now attaches great importance to the new energy industry, and the attitude from above is also very clear: domestic oil resources are tight, and new energy can alleviate this pressure. In the next few years, policies will only become more and more favorable.
He didn't say much, but every word he uttered hit the nail on the head.
Lin Feng knew that Shen Ping wasn't just chatting casually. This secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission always spoke with great discretion; for him to reveal this much was already a signal.
The two chatted for about half an hour before the orderly came to announce that lunch was ready. Lunch was at home, consisting of four dishes and a soup, with a light flavor.
Shen Wanyu sat next to Shen Ping, occasionally putting food on Lin Feng's plate, and asking about her father's health and the relationship between mother and daughter. Shen Ping didn't say much, but his eyes clearly showed patience.
After finishing their meal, Lin Feng didn't linger, saying he had to rush back to Hohai University that afternoon to handle some matters. Shen Ping patted him on the shoulder and told him to drive slowly on the road.
Shen Wanyu followed him to the courtyard gate, holding Lin Feng's hand tightly, reluctant to let go. Lin Feng squeezed her fingers, saying he would come to see her in a few days when he was less busy and would take her sightseeing then.
The other person then hummed in agreement, released his grip, and stepped back to Shen Ping's side.
Lin Feng drove out of the residential compound, not lingering in Zijin, and headed straight for the highway towards Hehai. He tossed his phone onto the passenger seat; the screen lit up a few times. He glanced at it while waiting at a red light; it was a message from Shen Wanyu asking if he was on the highway yet.
He replied "Almost there," tossed his phone back, and turned his attention back to the road ahead.
The city of Zijin outside the car window slowly receded in the twilight light. Lin Feng lit a cigarette and rolled down the window a crack.
The wind blew in, scattering the cigarette ash into the air.
