For the next two days, Raymond Lam's schedule was packed.

At 9:00 a.m. on the first day, I stepped into the company headquarters located in the heart of the CBD. The floor-to-ceiling windows of the top-floor office faced the skyline of the river and sea. The early autumn sunlight shone on the dark brown desk, where project documents were spread out to a height of half a meter.

Ouyang Qian was already sitting in the opposite reception chair, wearing a crisp beige suit skirt, her long hair neatly tied back, a black leather notebook lying on her lap, a pen between her fingers. When she saw him come in, she only raised her eyes slightly as a greeting.

The two sat facing each other for nearly an hour, with Lin Feng tapping his fingertips on the table as he went through the core tasks of the near future.

Construction milestones for the supporting showroom of the new energy sales center, approval of the product line of the health management company, preliminary preparations for Wang Yue's film and television company, and follow-up coordination with the imported car channels in Hamburg, Germany.

Each item is clearly defined, with key points and crucial milestones, and not a single word is wasted.

Ouyang Qian's pen flew across the paper as she took notes, without uttering a single word. Only after he had finished speaking did she close the notebook, look up at him, and gaze calm and sharp behind her glasses: "How long do you plan to stay in Cangzhou this time?"

"It depends. It could take a week or two, or even a month." Lin Feng leaned back in his chair and tapped his fingers lightly on the armrest.

"I'll keep a close eye on things here, and there shouldn't be any problems with normal operations." She paused, then tapped a few lines on her notebook. "I'll personally oversee the showroom construction. Wang Yue is handling the film company registration. Before you leave, send me the contact information and negotiation framework for the person in charge of the BBA imported car channel, and I'll take over the follow-up."

Around 2 PM, Lin Feng drove to the plot of land next to the sales center.

The site had been cleared clean, with several yellow excavators parked quietly at the edge, their buckets still covered in fresh dirt. The construction team's temporary prefabricated houses were erected in the northwest corner, the old road markings on the ground had been removed, and several rolls of silver-gray fencing material were piled up at the edge, rustling in the wind.

The construction supervisor was a man in his forties named Lao Zhou. His face was tanned dark, and the brim of his safety helmet was pulled low. He was clutching crumpled construction drawings in his hand. When he saw Lin Feng coming over, he quickly went to greet him.

"President Lin." Old Zhou spread the blueprints out on the makeshift wooden planks, pointing to several key axes with his fingertips. "If things go smoothly, the main structure can be completed in two months. The interior decoration and showroom setup will be done simultaneously, and we aim to complete and deliver the project before the end of the year."

Lin Feng didn't say anything, and slowly walked around the edge of the field.

His gaze swept over the newly erected fence frame, over the piles of steel bars and building materials in the distance, and finally settled on the entrance to the construction site. The afternoon sun cast a long shadow of his on the still damp earth.

After standing there for about two minutes, I only asked one question, "Can you guarantee the material delivery schedule?" After receiving a reassuring answer from Lao Zhou, I turned around and drove away.

The third stop was the apartment where Wang Yue lived.

Sophia opened the door, dressed in light gray loungewear, her blonde hair loosely draped over her shoulders. When she saw Raymond Lam, her eyes crinkled, and she called out "Lin" in accented Chinese, the last syllable rising slightly like a feather brushing against her ear.

The living room is decorated in a natural wood style, and sunlight filters through the sheer curtains, casting dappled shadows on the carpet.

Wang Yue sat cross-legged on the carpet in front of the coffee table, with her laptop in front of her, the screen filled with dense tables, and a stack of printed script outlines next to her. Her hair was casually tied into a bun, with stray hairs hanging down her cheeks.

"The short drama company license has been issued." She glanced up at Lin Feng, tapped the screen with her finger, and said, "We've looked at two locations. There's a ready-made studio with working lighting and tracks, and we negotiated the rent down to 70% of the market price. We've posted the job ad, and we've had quite a few interviews these past few days. As you said, we're focusing on physical appearance first, and acting skills can be improved later."

Lin Feng sat down on the single sofa next to him, casually picked up a script and flipped through it: "The progress is faster than I expected. Can we start filming next Monday?"

"Yes, we can." Wang Yue nodded, her tone very certain. "We'll finalize the staff over the weekend and have the equipment ready on Monday. We've got three scripts ready; we'll start with a sweet romance to test the waters—it's low-cost and can scale up quickly."

Sofia listened quietly to the two men finish speaking, then closed her book, stood up, walked to Lin Feng's side, and handed him the Chinese textbook.

The pages were covered with pinyin and annotations, and the bottom line was Chinese characters written in pencil. The strokes were crooked, like a child learning to write, but she wrote each stroke very carefully. "I am very happy to be here."

Lin Feng looked at the words, closed the book, and handed it back, gently touching the top of her head with his fingertips: "If you're willing to learn, that's fine. No rush, take your time. There are suitable short drama roles later, you can try them out too."

Sophia's eyes lit up. She seemed to have not fully understood, yet also seemed to have understood most of it. She didn't ask any more questions, but just nodded vigorously, hugged the book, sat back on the sofa, and opened the book.

That evening, Lin Feng made phone calls to Kui Zi and Biao Ge from his study.

The warm light from the table lamp fell on the table, and two cigarette butts lay in the ashtray.

Kui Zi was as decisive as ever, saying he had selected four retired soldiers, all in their early twenties, skilled and tight-lipped, to be at his beck and call when they arrived in Cangzhou.

Brother Biao brought two more men with him. Their voices were loud and clear, and you could feel their gangster-like aura even through the phone: "Don't worry, brother. My guys down there have connections. If they need to get any information, they'll be faster than the locals."

After hanging up the phone, Lin Feng stood by the window and smoked a cigarette.

The streetcars below flowed like a river of light, and most of the office buildings in the distance still had their lights on. He knew how deep the waters were in Cangzhou, but this move was necessary.

When Lin Feng arrived at the company the next day, it was almost 10 o'clock.

After processing the pile of signed documents, the pen tip made a neat signature on the paper, and the folder was closed before the ink was even dry.

He then called Ouyang Qian over and compiled the contact information for the Audi liaison in Germany and the preliminary negotiation framework into a shared document, which he sent over, with even the marked precautions clearly listed.

Ouyang Qian stood by her desk, quickly scanning the document on her phone, her fingers moving rapidly: "No problem." She paused, then added, "I've checked the fund allocation and several approvals from the finance department; nothing was missed."

After they finished speaking, neither of them moved. The office was quiet, with only the slight hum of the central air conditioning vents.

Finally, Raymond Lam spoke first: "Then I'll go first. Call me if you need anything."

Ouyang Qian saw him to the elevator. The elevator doors opened with a ding, and she stood in the doorway, the hem of her suit skirt hanging straight down. She looked at him and said, "Come back as soon as you've finished things in Cangzhou. This place is quite large, and without you in charge, I'll have to put in a lot of effort."

His tone was flat, revealing little emotion, yet it concealed a dependence that only the two of them understood.

Lin Feng stepped into the elevator, turned to look at her, and said with a steady gaze, "With you here, I feel very at ease."

The elevator doors slowly closed, the floor numbers ticking down one by one. Finally, it stopped on the first floor. Lin Feng walked through the high-ceilinged lobby, the glass doors opened automatically, and the evening breeze rushed in, carrying the coolness of early autumn.

As I started the car and drove away from the parking lot, I glanced at her in the rearview mirror. Ouyang Qian was still standing on the steps at the lobby entrance, looking down at her phone. The light from the screen reflected on her face. After a few seconds, she put her phone away, turned around, and walked into the building.
