Betting?

The way these two words came out of the mouth of a three-year-old child was strangely comical.

Wei Huaihao looked at Su Xuance with suspicion in his eyes. What did he take Renbao to play with when she wasn't studying at the Wei residence?

Su Xuance was also shocked; he was innocent.

"I bet ten thousand taels of gold on the young celestial master, betting she will win." The emperor laughed loudly and glanced at Eunuch Liu.

The latter understood and immediately served the gold.

The entire room fell silent, with eyes darting back and forth between Renbao and Sutang.

Su Chengxiao's heart skipped a beat. He looked at Su Tang and asked in a low voice, "Is there any chance of winning?"

"She grew up in the countryside, so she's definitely not as well-educated as me," Su Tang said confidently.

Su Chengxiao was confident, but he dared not bet on Su Tang to win at this moment.

"I will also bet ten thousand taels of gold on Su Tang to win," the Empress Dowager said slowly, her expression unchanged.

Su Xuance stood up: "I bet ten thousand taels of gold on my son Renbao to win."

Ten thousand taels! And it's gold!

Renbao braced his chubby little hands on the edge of the table and winked at Su Xuance: "Daddy, are you crazy? That's gold! What if I lose?"

Su Xuance understood what she meant and blinked: Father believes you!

The officials followed suit and placed their bets; in terms of the number of people betting, Renbao and Sutang were evenly matched.

Judging from the amount of silver, the amount bet on Renbao was several times more than that on Sutang.

"Renbao, the bets have been placed. Now, recite the poem you wrote." A hint of smug satisfaction flickered in Su Tang's round eyes.

Renbao wondered to himself, "Are the poems that Uncle Hei found Gui Gui to write really any good?"

She didn't speak.

The atmosphere became somewhat tense, especially among the courtiers who had bet on her; their eyes were all fixed on her.

Little Celestial Master, you must do your best!

"When will the moon be clear and bright? I raise my cup to ask the heavens..."

When Renbao read out the first sentence, the entire room fell silent.

The eyes of civil officials, especially Wei Huaihao, suddenly lit up.

"Starting with the moon, excellent! The very first line sets a bold and unrestrained tone; truly worthy of the Little Celestial Master!"

As Renbao read, he glanced at everyone's reactions and saw that they all looked blank.

He stopped drinking alcohol and eating food.

She looked completely bewildered.

Is this poem good or bad? Everyone in it looks like they've gone mad.

At this moment, a palace maid brought out a plate of grapes and placed it in front of her.

Renbao stopped reading halfway through, staring at the grapes in front of him and swallowing hard. He couldn't resist, picked one with his chubby little hand, and quickly stuffed it into his mouth.

The sweet and slightly sour juice spread in her mouth, and Renbao happily shook her head, reaching for the grapes with both hands, her cheeks round and chubby.

The civil and military officials were in a panic.

I couldn't help but repeat the last sentence that Renbao recited before eating the grapes.

"Dancing with my shadow, how unlike the mortal world!"

No matter how you listen to it or think about it, it doesn't sound like a complete poem.

Seeing that Renbao wasn't continuing the story and was instead eating grapes, they were incredibly eager to know what would happen next.

"Little Celestial Master, what happens next?"

"Little Celestial Master, stop eating! Finish your ritual first!"

A tiny bit of juice trickled down Renbao's lips. She was eating with relish when she heard this and looked up with a soft "ah".

Su Xuance cleared his throat: "Renbao, is there any more?"

"Yes," Renbao nodded, then continued reading, "Turning to the vermilion pavilion...May we all live long and share the beauty of the moon, though separated by a thousand miles."

She specifically looked up the poet's name, Su Shi.

"Uncle Hei, please add merit to Uncle Su Shi's name. I used his poems, so please thank him for me."

After Renbao finished reciting the message to Hei Wuchang, he couldn't wait to bury his head in eating grapes.

Silence.

Su Tang and Su Chengxiao looked extremely embarrassed. Renbao's poems, in terms of both structure and artistic conception, were far superior to Su Tang's few catchy verses.

The poem she recited was a drop of dew.

The poem that Renbao recited was a boundless sea.

The outcome of this bet is already decided.

The Empress Dowager's hand, which was holding the teacup, suddenly tightened, causing the scalding tea to splash out. She then released her grip.

The teacup fell to the ground with a crisp, jarring sound, startling everyone in the room.

"The poems written by the young celestial master are timeless masterpieces." Wei Huaihao stood up, raised his wine cup, and said, "I have learned a great deal."

His students all stood up and raised their glasses, showing great respect to Renbao.

"Good!" The emperor's eyebrows relaxed, and he laughed heartily. He stroked his long beard, and his eyes were full of pride as he looked at Renbao.

This is the Little Celestial Master he personally appointed; he's really made us proud!

"Little Celestial Master, you've won me some silver. Do you have any wishes?" the Emperor asked softly.

He was happy.

Someone is unhappy.

The Empress Dowager frowned slightly, and her gaze toward Su Tang held a hint of displeasure.

Su Tang lowered her head, her small hands clenched tightly in her sleeves, and her eyes welled up with tears.

She lost to Su Renbao again!

Renbao was so engrossed in eating grapes that he was completely oblivious to the various gazes directed at him from all directions.

She had thought about the Emperor's words carefully, and was about to say no, when Renbao remembered the purpose of her visit to the palace—to find a straw effigy for her brother Song—she immediately said, "Uncle Emperor, may I wander around the palace a bit?"

The emperor was taken aback, not expecting such a simple wish. He smiled and wiped her mouth, saying, "Of course."

"I want Brother Song to come with me." Renbao tugged at the emperor's sleeve, her big eyes sparkling as she looked at him. "Is that alright?"

The emperor couldn't help but chuckle: "Sure, you can have the Duke of Zhenguo accompany you."

The Duke of Zhenguo immediately straightened his chest and looked at Renbao with hopeful eyes: Choose me! Choose me!

Renbao tilted her head. She had recently learned an idiom: "to startle the snake by beating the grass."

How can I say it without arousing suspicion?

Yes!

"Don't smell Uncle Wen, he's old and can't walk fast. Brother Song is handsome and dashing, I like him!"

Renbaotong's soft voice rang out.

The smile on the Duke of Zhenguo's face froze; the sky had fallen!

He desperately wanted to look at his face in a bronze mirror. Was he old? Or was he ugly...?

Song Mo stood up under the Duke of Zhenguo's "hostile" gaze, and gave him an innocent smile.

You little brat, how dare you provoke me!

The Duke of Zhenguo angrily took a swig of wine, and watched Renbao leave the banquet hand in hand with Song Mo, his eyes reddening with envy.

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was paying attention to her, Su Tang crouched down and slipped out as well.

Renbao held an incense stick in her hand. She snapped her fingers, and a flame appeared at her fingertips. After lighting the incense, she whispered to Song Mo, "Brother Song, hold this. Just follow the direction the fragrance is going, and you'll find it!"

Song Mo solemnly accepted the incense sticks and carefully carried them forward.

Renbao heard footsteps approaching from behind, and her little nose twitched.

The unlucky guy followed.

Her big eyes darted around, and a little idea popped into her head.
