Chapter 5 Spirit Pet

Someone called out to me.

Su Yang felt helpless.

But he could only stop in his tracks, his body tense.

He quickly turned around and jogged forward:

"Disciple Su Yang greets the Inner Sect Immortal Maiden."

Disciples like Su Yang, who were only menial servants, weren't even considered to have entered the sect.

She is not qualified to call inner disciples "senior sister"; she can only call them "fairy maiden."

The female disciple didn't care about his form of address; she merely glanced at him casually, her tone impatient:

"I'm asking you, you just came from the other side of the woods, did you see a rabbit with red ears?"

She then gestured as she spoke:

"It's about this big, pure white except for its two red ears. That's my spirit pet. If you know where it is, you'll be well rewarded!"

A rabbit with red ears?

Such a conspicuous feature was something Su Yang had never seen before.

He shook his head:

"Reporting to the Fairy Maiden, this disciple has been cutting down spirit trees over there and has never seen your spirit pet."

Ding Yue knelt on the ground, his eyes darting around, and suddenly let out a cold laugh:

"Senior sister, this kid is incredibly slick; he never tells the truth."

Pang Yue understood Ding Yue's idea and readily agreed:

"Yes, yes, don't let his newbie status fool you, he's incredibly cunning."

"I saw him sneaking around in the woods this morning. It's possible that he stole and ate your spirit pet, Senior Sister."

Su Yang's heart sank suddenly.

He lowered his head and met Ding Yue's malicious eyes, and his anger erupted.

But when I look up...

Seeing the inner disciple's clothes, my heart sank.

Inner disciples hold extremely high status and have the power of life and death over menial disciples.

The fairy maiden in front of them was quite extraordinary; the imposing aura emanating from her indicated that she was at least a mid-stage Qi Refining cultivator.

He was only at the second level of Qi Refining, no match for him at all, and had no hope of escaping.

Su Yang could only pray that this fairy would be reasonable and listen to his explanation.

Just as he was about to speak in his defense.

But then he suddenly heard the female disciple let out a cold laugh.

Look up.

I noticed she casually raised her hand and waved it.

Two beams of white light shot out instantly, striking Ding Yue and Pang Yue precisely in the chest.

Boom!

Two muffled thuds were followed by two cries of pain.

Ding Yue and Pang Yue were sent flying backwards into the distance.

They then fell heavily to the ground, each spitting out two mouthfuls of blood, staining the ground in front of them red.

Ding Yue clutched his chest, his face filled with terror, while Pang Yue trembled with fear. Neither of them had any idea why this inner sect senior sister had attacked them.

The female disciple glanced down at them.

His tone was cold and his disdain undisguised:

Do you think I look like an idiot?

Ding Yue and Pang Yue didn't dare to say anything at this point.

They could only crawl on the ground and kowtow repeatedly.

The female disciple took a step forward and snorted coldly:

"My spirit pet is also at the mid-stage of Qi Refining and is extremely skilled in speed."

"Where is this handyman? He's only been doing this for a few days. Let alone catching the spirit pet that hurt me, he can't even touch it."

"You guys can't even come up with a cleverer lie. Now you know why I took action against you, right?"

Ding Yue's face turned deathly pale instantly, and he kowtowed repeatedly:

"I understand, I understand, Senior Sister, please spare me! I was confused, I deserve to die!"

Pang Yue glared fiercely at Ding Yue, and continued to kowtow and beg for mercy:

"Senior sister, please spare me! I was deceived by him; I absolutely did not mean to lie to you!"

The female disciple waved her hand dismissively and impatiently.

"Stop kowtowing, I'll spare your lives this time."

"However, you will now gather all the servants from Cuilin Peak and search the entire mountain, inside and out."

"I must find my precious spirit pet!"

Ding Yue and Pang Yue stopped kowtowing and nodded in agreement without hesitation:

"Yes, senior sister, we'll take care of it right away!"

The female disciple said no more, and with a flick of her body, she rode the wind and quickly disappeared from their sight.

Su Yang stood still.

He breathed a slight sigh of relief as he watched the direction the woman had disappeared in.

Although this fairy was unruly, she was at least reasonable and did not believe the slander of Ding and Yue.

However, the fairy clearly didn't treat these menial servants as human beings.

All servants were mobilized to search for the spirit pet.

It's amazing that this fairy could come up with such a thing.

There are quite a few miscellaneous disciples on Cuiling Peak, and each of them has a fixed job.

We need to take care of the sacred fields and cut down the trees.

There is a daily quota.

If I go looking for rabbits today, the job is definitely not going to be finished.

But it won't do if it's not completed.

They will be severely punished.

Then we'll have to work overtime.

Su Yang estimated that many of the menial workers wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

He suddenly had a sudden realization.

The fairy maiden wasn't being reasonable; it was just that, to her, Ding Yue and Pang Yue, or even his menial disciple, were different people.

They all held the same place in her heart.

They can't really be considered human anyway.

They are nothing more than ants that can be disposed of at will.

They come when summoned and leave when dismissed.

She didn't care whether Su Yang was being slandered; she just felt she couldn't be fooled.

She wouldn't care what would happen if the ants couldn't finish their work; she would only care whether her spirit pet could be found.

Thinking about this...

Su Yang lowered his head slightly.

The fleeting sense of relief that had just arisen in my heart vanished completely.

Ding Yue and Pang Yue had already gotten up from the ground.

Both of them looked extremely pale.

They each wiped the blood from the corner of their mouths.

Their gazes all fell on Su Yang.

Their eyes held anger, resentment, and hatred.

They certainly dared not resent that inner sect senior sister.

Therefore, he could only direct his anger at Su Yang.

Ding Yue's voice was cold:

"What are you all standing there for? Didn't you hear what your senior sister said? Hurry up and find her a spirit pet!"

Pang Yue was equally annoyed:

"Go search that woods to the west, keep searching until you reach the end, or don't come back!"

Su Yang felt a chill run down his spine.

That grove of trees to the west.

He had heard from someone yesterday that it was a treacherous forest.

Because there used to be an outer sect elder there who kept poisonous insects.

Although the elders took away most of the poisonous insects, some were still left behind.

Several servants died from poisonous insects in that forest.

Gradually, that place became a forbidden area for the handyman disciples.

Pang Yue is clearly sending him to a dangerous place; he wants him dead!

Su Yang opened his mouth, as if to say something.

Ding Yue interrupted him directly:

"What? You don't want to go? Or do you not want to do anything for your senior sister?"

Upon hearing this, Su Yang knew he had no choice but to go.

The two deacons wanted to mess with him, a menial disciple, and he had no chance to resist.

Su Yang shut his mouth, said no more, and turned to walk west.

Push aside the branches and leaves that blocked the way.

He kept cursing Ding Yue and Pang Yue, those two old dogs, in his heart.

The forest was indeed as desolate and difficult to traverse as he had imagined.

The trees are sparse and low.

There is no clear path yet.

The further you go in, the more difficult it becomes.

Su Yang carefully made his way through the woods, his eyes searching around, hoping to find the red-eared rabbit.

He didn't think he could actually find it.

But we're already here.

I'll have to search for it eventually.

Just now.

Su Yang was stunned.

His gaze was fixed on the ground beneath a withered tree in the distance.

There lay a snow-white rabbit with red ears.
