Chapter 73 The Choice of Devil Fruits: Devil Fruits Possessing "Willpower"
However, Silver Axe didn't take it too seriously.
He'd been fighting the Golden Lion for so long; if it were that easy to kill him, he would have died countless times already.
The golden lion quickly landed not far from the silver axe, then turned its head, its gaze falling on the silver axe, and slowly said, "Silver Axe, next time you want to trick me, you'd better come up with a perfect plan, instead of this brainless trick, understand?"
Silver Axe sneered and shrugged indifferently: "I'll give you the same thing you said."
Looking at his nonchalant expression, the Golden Lion felt a surge of anger welling up inside him, unable to rise or fall. "What? Are you a dog? All you can do is mimic other people's speech?"
Silver Axe: "@*#¥......(A highly encrypted string of words containing explicit sexual content.)"
Golden Lion: "#¥@¥%*...... (Also sent a confidential message to a relative.)"
The two were exchanging greetings back and forth.
Suddenly, their expressions changed simultaneously.
"Phew~~~!"
A figure swept past them at high speed, so fast that it left only a blurry afterimage in their sight, and even the wind was torn apart by a sharp whistling sound.
As the afterimage passed through the gap between the two, a sentence floated into their ears.
"Excuse me, you two lowly pirates."
The silver axe and the golden lion froze simultaneously.
Those two words felt like a slap in the face, not hard, but hitting right where it hit the grudge they'd made earlier: whoever ran away would be a low-level pirate for life.
The two turned their heads almost simultaneously, their gazes following the retreating figure. The Golden Lion's face turned pale for a moment, then quickly flushed crimson.
He turned his head and looked at Silver Axe incredulously, saying, "Did you hear that? That bastard Kaido called us low-class pirates."
Silver Axe glanced at him, his expression indifferent: "That's a fact."
Golden Lion's lips twitched, somewhat doubting whether he had misheard. "You're still my mortal enemy, that Silver Axe who's always opposing me? You're completely unfazed by this provocation?"
"but......"
Golden Lion withdrew his gaze, his anger subsiding somewhat. "Is that martial art Ron taught you really that strong? Kaido is completely different from before."
Silver Axe didn't reply, but his expression was rather unpleasant. He hadn't expected Golden Lion to know so much.
"Stop scheming, Shiki." Silver Axe said this and darted off like an arrow, heading towards Harald at full speed.
"Tch," the Golden Lion said dismissively, watching the Silver Axe's retreating figure, "I didn't ask you for any payment, why are you being so nosy?"
After saying that, he also took off into the air, his body drawing an arc in the air as he flew in the same direction.
.........
Meanwhile, Kaido had already closed in on Harald.
The green steam from the sixth gate of the Eight Gates Formation surged across his body, as if he were draped in a layer of flowing light.
He was incredibly fast; wherever he stepped, the ground shattered, and gravel flew to both sides, leaving a long trail of dust behind him.
The moment he entered the attack range, he leaped up suddenly, his body like a bullet released from its limit, hurtling straight above Harald.
Harald did not retreat. Without even thinking, he raised his greatsword, wrapped in dark red arcs of Haki, and with an overwhelming momentum, slashed down at Kaido head-on.
"Go to hell!"
The sword's edge tore through the air, emitting a low, booming sound, as if the entire space was groaning under the pressure of that sword strike.
Kaido's pupils contracted slightly the instant the sword fell. He didn't take the hit head-on; instead, the moment the giant sword struck, he flashed to the other side.
Kaido steadied himself and, without pausing, rapidly alternated punches.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
With each punch, a shockwave wrapped in flames burst forth from his fist, like a ignited meteor, densely covering Harald's direction.
Harald's gaze darkened. He clenched his empty left hand tightly, his fist radiating an aura of dominance, and then unleashed a powerful punch.
The powerful shockwave struck the fireballs head-on, blasting them into a shower of sparks.
Flames burst forth between the two, like a brief, dazzling firework display.
Harald then gave Kaido no time to catch his breath.
Almost without pausing after retracting the sword with his right hand, the blade flipped half a circle in the air before he immediately slashed out with a backhand.
Kaido did not attempt to attack again. He had clearly seen from the previous exchange that with his current strength, he could not shake Harald at all.
That guy's strength, domineering presence, and combat experience are all superior to his.
The Eight Gates technique greatly enhanced his strength, but he was still far from being as powerful as Harald.
"Fine, you win. I won't shorten your lifespan this time, we'll talk about it next time."
-------------------------------------
In a town on an island in the New World, sunlight slants across the stone-paved road, casting long, thin shadows of pedestrians.
At a makeshift fruit and vegetable stall by the roadside, three men were gathered around a fruit placed in the corner, talking in hushed tones, as if they had stumbled upon something they shouldn't have.
"Hey, Roger, did you see that? It's exactly the same!" Rayleigh's voice was low, but it couldn't hide the sheer disbelief in it.
"Um."
Roger nodded, his surprise undisguised. "I'm not blind."
"That's amazing. It's like they followed us here on purpose," Jabba chimed in.
The stall owner was an elderly man with white hair and thin, dry skin, whose face was lined with deep wrinkles like furrows in a field.
He was sitting on a small stool behind his stall, watching the three men whispering around his stall, and a friendly smile appeared on his face: "Want to buy some tomatoes? They're all freshly picked. If you buy a lot, I can give you a discount."
Roger didn't reply, but instead pointed to a solitary fruit in the corner of the stall, standing out from all the other tomatoes around it.
The fruit was a round sphere, deep purple in color, with dense spiral patterns covering its skin, and the ends of the vine branches curled into small swirls.
"Old man, where did you get this rather special 'tomato'?" Roger asked.
Upon hearing this, the old man's eyes lit up immediately, like a lit match.
