Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World
Chapter 28 Beyond the Gray Fog
Lynn slowly opened her eyes.
The effects of the condensing potion continued; the heightened perception of elemental particles felt like a thin film of water covering his skin, allowing him to clearly perceive every trace of energy flowing in the air.
He looked down at his hands, then clenched them tightly, feeling the cool energy within him slowly settling down and merging into his spirit and body.
"How are you feeling?"
Amber flew off the bedside table and landed on his lap, tilting her little head to look at him.
"That's amazing."
Lynn answered truthfully.
"It felt like... my senses had gained another dimension."
"Before, I could only vaguely sense the existence of energy, but now I can 'see' it."
Amber nodded in satisfaction, her hands clasped behind her back like a little teacher.
"Not bad, not bad. You got into the zone on your first try, which shows that you have a very high affinity for the wind element."
"As long as you persist in practicing this breathing method every day, your perception of elements will become more and more acute. Sooner or later, you will even be able to see the flow of elements in the air with the naked eye."
Lynn nodded, making sure to keep this habit in mind.
He glanced at the sky above the window; it was still afternoon, and there was still a long time until midnight.
He decided to use this time to continue refining the Tide Visualization Method and push forward the purification process of the impurities in the Spirit Liquid Pool.
Over the next few hours, Lynn once again entered that high-intensity training rhythm.
He drank the [Breath-Coagulating Potion] to maintain a stable output of mental energy, and then drank a small sip of [Clarity Water] to maintain high concentration.
With the aid of the dual-potion, he performed three complete tidal visualizations.
Each time he visualized, the gentle and continuous tidal force would wash over his spiritual pool again and again, peeling away, sweeping away, and expelling the visible gray impurities little by little.
After the three visualizations, Lynn once again introspected his own consciousness space.
The gray impurities in the spirit liquid pool have been significantly reduced. The spots that were originally as dense as floating dust have now become much sparser, and the entire spirit liquid pool looks much clearer.
At this rate, he should be able to purify the impurities to over 70% in three to four days at most.
Then, I can formally apply to Bloodvine Wizard to learn potion-making.
As night fell, Lynn ate a simple meal and then organized the remaining potion materials on his worktable.
Amber had already returned to her lily-of-the-valley cottage, curled up in her soft little bed, covered with a petal-shaped blanket, and was fast asleep.
Lynn glanced at the exquisite little house on the windowsill, smiled slightly, then lay back down on the bed and closed her eyes.
When the familiar feeling came over her, Lynn knew it was midnight.
Stepping onto the familiar bony ground, Lynn felt an unprecedented sense of unease as soon as he arrived.
The effects of the Breath-Freezing Potion had not completely worn off. Although several hours had passed in the real world, his body seemed to have retained the buffs from the potion.
This state continues even in the nightmare world.
His senses were several times sharper than when he entered the nightmare world before.
Lynn slowly raised his head, his gaze piercing through the grayish-white mist, and for the first time truly "saw" the structure of the mist.
The gray fog was not a simple weapon.
In his enhanced perception by the drug, the gray mist appeared as an extremely fine granular structure, each particle like a speck of dust, exuding an aura of decay and decay.
They are neither water vapor nor ordinary smoke.
They are... the remains formed after elements decay!
Lynn's pupils suddenly contracted.
He reached out, letting the grayish-white weapons slip through his fingers; the touch was cold and dry, like touching a layer of dead skin.
"I see... This gray mist is the residue left behind by the dead elemental energy in this world."
Lynn muttered to himself, a sense of unease rising within him at this discovery.
A world composed of corrupt elements is itself an ominous sign.
He has been here for so long, but he has never truly explored the boundaries of this world. Each time, he simply enters a state of meditation or drug practice.
But today, with the help of the condensing potion, he decided to do something he had always wanted to do but hadn't.
Explore this nightmare world.
Lynn lifted her foot and walked forward.
The grayish-white bone floor made a crisp sound under his feet, leaving a shallow footprint with each step.
The fog around him was still thick, but his vision was clearer than ever before. He could see further, about twenty meters away, where everything was still a grayish-white expanse.
He took ten steps, twenty steps, fifty steps, and one hundred steps.
Then he stopped.
A transparent barrier appeared in front of Lynn.
The barrier had no color or luster; if he hadn't reached out to touch it, he wouldn't have even noticed its existence.
Lynn placed his palm on the barrier, feeling a hard and cold sensation, as if it were a wall made of pure, transparent crystals.
He tapped it with his finger, producing a dull sound, like tapping on a thick sheet of ice.
Then, he pushed it with all his might, but the barrier didn't budge an inch.
"Is it blocked?"
Lynn frowned and walked to the left along the edge of the barrier.
He walked about two hundred steps and then found that the barrier turned here, forming an arc-shaped boundary.
He walked along the border for a long time and finally confirmed a fact that weighed heavily on his heart.
The barrier was a complete circle, trapping him in an area with a diameter of about two hundred meters.
In other words, the only area he can move around in the nightmare world is this circular space with a diameter of two hundred meters.
He had never tried to go this far before. Every time he entered the Nightmare World, he would stay in one place to practice, so he never noticed this limitation.
"It seems that this nightmare world is not infinitely large."
Lynn stood before the barrier, lost in thought.
Just as he was about to turn back and continue studying the barrier's properties, his gaze inadvertently swept across the ground.
Then, Lynn froze.
On the other side of the barrier, in a circle about three meters in diameter, there is a shallow drag mark on the grayish-white bone surface.
The drag marks were fresh, with clear edges, as if something had been dragged through here not long ago.
Moreover, the drag mark appeared on the outside of the barrier.
Lynn was startled. He quickly walked to the barrier and stared intently at the drag mark.
The drag marks were wide, about half a meter long, extending from the left to the depths of the fog on the right, disappearing into the gray mist.
A faint trace of energy remained on the surface of the drag marks. In his enhanced perception with the Breath-Gathering Potion, the dead energy exhibited a dark red luster and carried a faint fishy smell.
The breath of life!
The world outside this barrier is not a void.
Something has been active outside.
Moreover, the timeframe is very short.
