Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World
Chapter 3: Potion Quest, Potion Workshop Repair
Suppressing the joy of successfully completing a meditation rune, Lynn turned his attention to the so-called hemostatic potion.
One thing after another has happened, leaving him somewhat overwhelmed.
Upon arriving at his cabin, Lynn rummaged around and found three wooden boxes inside.
Each of the three wooden boxes contained five herbs, and there was also a note inside.
Lynn took out the note and scanned its contents.
Ingredients for hemostatic agents: Hemostatic herb, Bloodwort flower, Iron wire vine, Cold bone leaf, and Saber tooth root.
This is the most basic potion-making task at the White Raven Tower Wizarding Academy. Every herbalist apprentice in the nursery needs to submit a finished hemostatic potion within a specified time as an assessment standard.
During this period, each herbalist apprentice can receive three sets of materials, while only one set is needed to make a hemostatic medicine.
The remaining materials are then left to the apprentices to handle themselves, which can be considered a kind of hidden benefit for herbal medicine apprentices.
If the apprentice fails the assessment, he/she will lose his/herbalism apprentice status and will also need to pay back all the expenses incurred during his/herbalism apprenticeship.
This could be considered another huge debt!
Lynn's original owner never made any hemostatic medicine from the time she received the medicine until her death.
Moreover, the time to hand over the medicine was three days later.
Lynn fell silent; he rarely showed signs of agitation.
But ever since I came into this world, feelings of irritability have been constantly swirling around my mind.
Looking at the materials for the hemostatic medicine in front of him, Lynn looked around but couldn't find the tools to make the medicine.
If you want to make potions, you can only go to the academy's apothecary and borrow the relevant facilities.
Lynn silently put away the potion materials, and after confirming that there was nothing of value in the room, he locked the door and walked out of the cultivation room.
As soon as Lynn stepped out of the training room, two skeletons carried an unconscious apprentice past him.
"Tsk tsk, there are fewer and fewer living materials available now, and one by one they can't stand the debt and end their own lives."
"Yes, living materials are just like their name suggests. Living materials are the most useful. Once they die, their value is greatly reduced, let alone being used for experiments."
The two skeletons opened and closed their mouths, and the sounds came from their mouths, which had no vocal cords.
Moreover, while these two guys were talking, their empty eye sockets would intentionally or unintentionally look at Lynn, as if they were saying these words to Lynn.
Watching the two skeletons leave in front of him, Lynn forcibly suppressed the horror in his heart, then left the entrance of the incubation room without looking to the side and walked towards the apothecary.
Walking on the main stone path of White Raven Tower Academy, the thin morning mist was slowly dissipating, and the buildings on both sides gradually came into Lynn's view.
The architectural style of this college can only be described as bizarre.
Next to a Gothic spire stands a modern, silver-white building made of tempered glass and concrete.
In the shadow of this modern building stands an ancient stone fortress covered in vines, with a huge, still-dripping beast head hanging above its gate, its eye sockets burning with two eerie blue flames.
This absurd and bizarre clash of styles would make people uncomfortable no matter which normal world it were placed in.
But at White Raven Tower Academy, it simply existed as a matter of course.
Lynn withdrew his gaze and quickened his pace.
The apothecary is located in the eastern part of the college. It is a three-story gray stone building that, from a distance, looks like a toad lying on the ground.
Above the main entrance of the building hangs a rusty iron plaque with the words "Pharmacy" written on it in some bright yellow liquid. The liquid is still slowly flowing down the plaque, as if it had just been written.
At this moment, at the entrance of the apothecary in the early morning, there were seven or eight people in line. They were all herbal apprentices dressed in uniform gray linen robes, each holding more or less medicinal materials in their hands, waiting nervously.
When Lynn saw this, he silently joined the end of the line.
Standing in front of him was a tall, thin boy with a sallow complexion and sunken eyes, a typical case of long-term malnutrition and excessive sleep deprivation.
The boy was holding two samples of unknown medicine materials in his arms. He kept tapping the outer layer of the material box with his fingers, and the tapping sound made him seem very anxious.
"Brother, are you here to make potions too?"
The tall, thin boy turned around and glanced at Lynn, then asked in a low voice.
Lynn didn't reply, but simply nodded silently.
"Then you're in a bit of bad luck."
"Today is the last day the apothecary will be open; it will close for maintenance tomorrow."
"Moreover, there are only eight spots available today."
"So, you..."
The guy didn't finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear.
Because Lynn is currently ranked ninth, if what he said is true, there are only eight spots available today.
Then he probably won't be able to use the pharmacy to make hemostatic drugs.
Moreover, who knows how long it will take to repair this apothecary? If it only takes a day, then he can wait until the repairs are complete before making the potions.
However, if the time exceeds two days or even longer, he will be unable to hand over the medicine and will eventually be burdened with debt.
"Eight spots? But I'm just borrowing the facilities, do I still need to use one spot?"
Suddenly remembering something, Lynn asked the tall, thin man in front of her.
The tall, thin man paused for a moment after hearing what Lynn said. He looked Lynn up and down, his eyes filled with pity.
"Brother, you haven't finished your herbalism apprentice quests yet, have you?"
"You haven't touched any of the three sets of materials?"
Lynn was getting annoyed by the guy's tone.
"Is there a problem?"
Seeing Lynn's reaction, the tall, thin man knew that the situation was roughly as he had guessed, and then shook his head, his tone full of regret.
"This is a big problem, bro!"
"Do you know how difficult it was to prepare this hemostatic agent?"
"Processing the blood-clotting herb alone requires twelve steps; the slightest mistake will ruin the entire plant!"
"I ruined two batches before, and only managed to make one finished product yesterday. Even then, the supervisor scolded me for wasting materials!"
Upon hearing this, Lynn suddenly realized what was happening.
So this is how complicated it is to prepare hemostatic drugs.
The tall, thin man didn't stop talking and continued:
"The entire process of making this hemostatic medicine is extremely complicated. Even if I gave you a spot in the pharmacy now, or even ten days, it wouldn't be enough."
"Even if you have enough time, it's questionable whether even one of your three documents will be accepted!"
Lynn listened to the tall, thin man's words, staring silently at the materials for her hemostatic medicine, without replying.
Seeing that Lynn seemed to be in a withdrawn state, the tall, thin man stopped talking and turned around to continue queuing.
Soon, one person after another entered the apothecary.
A short while later, the tall, thin man in front of Lynn also entered the apothecary. When it was his turn, the manager of the apothecary came to him.
"There are no more spots available today. The rest of you should come back after the apothecary is renovated!"
As soon as the steward finished speaking, wails of agony rose from behind Lynn.
"No! My hemostatic agent is just one step away from completion! Let me in to finish it! Please!"
"Sir, I have academy points here. You can take as many as you want. Please, please make an exception and let me in!"
"Damn it, why is there a limit to the number of spots today? What a waste of time!"
"..."
Some cursed angrily, some wailed, and some fell into despair.
Lynn sighed helplessly, it seemed he was destined to bear this debt from the herbalist apprentice.
Just as he was about to turn and leave, a voice called out to him.
"Lynn, what are you doing here?"
