Wizard: I Have a Nightmare World

Chapter 42 Enforcement Team

Leif stared wide-eyed, his face filled with disbelief.

Although his fireball spell wasn't a full-force attack, it was certainly not a casual, perfunctory one.

He had originally thought that even if this attack couldn't seriously injure Lynn, it would at least force him to dodge in a sorry state and embarrass himself in public.

But the result?

The opponent didn't even move a step; he simply unfurled a water curtain and effortlessly extinguished his fireball.

Water overcomes fire; this is basic common sense about elemental counteraction, but this level of counteraction is something Leif has never seen before.

This indicates that the opponent's Water Curtain spell is constructed with a much higher precision than his Fireball spell, which is why it exhibits such an overwhelming and dominant effect.

The surrounding apprentices also began to get excited.

"Holy crap! A water curtain spell? He can even do water magic?"

"Was that the Emanation Hand he used to cover Leif's mouth just now? That's notoriously difficult to control!"

"Wind Blade, Evoking Hand, Water Curtain... This guy has mastered three zero-ring spells all by himself?"

"Three dishes? I don't think that's a small number!"

"It seems like Leif has bitten off more than he can chew..."

Leif's face grew increasingly grim. Listening to the surrounding apprentices' chatter, he felt as if every word was a slap in the face.

He wanted to argue back and get revenge, but his most prized fireball spell had just been easily neutralized by his opponent, and he really didn't have any trump cards up his sleeve.

Just as the situation reached a stalemate, a series of neat and heavy footsteps came from the direction of the training ground entrance.

All eyes turned in that direction at the same time, and a team of people wearing black uniforms and silver law enforcement badges on their chests were walking quickly into the training field.

Leading the group was a burly middle-aged man with a stern face and sharp, eagle-like eyes. His gaze swept across the field before finally settling on the open space between Leif and Lynn, where water stains and scorch marks still remained.

The White Raven Tower Enforcement Team has arrived!

"Who was it that made a move in the training ground just now?!"

The middle-aged man at the head of the group spoke in a deep voice, which, though not loud, carried an undeniable air of authority.

The training ground fell silent instantly, and all the apprentices instinctively held their breath.

When Leif saw the enforcement team appear, he was slightly taken aback at first, then his eyes lit up with joy.

He quickly broke free from the restraints of the Shaping Hand, strode up to the middle-aged man, pointed at Lynn, and his figure carried a clear incitement.

"Your Honor! It was him! He struck first!"

"He suddenly attacked me with his Evocation Hand; I was forced to retaliate!"

"Everyone present saw it!"

Upon hearing this, the apprentices around him all wore strange expressions.

Someone couldn't help but mutter to themselves:

"That Leif is so shameless! He was the one who provoked us..."

But Leif clearly didn't care about any of that. He straightened his back, and his expression quickly changed from his previous disheveled state to that of a wronged victim.

His distant relative, a formal wizard, still wielded some influence in White Raven Tower. As long as he shifted all the blame onto Lynn, the enforcement team would give him some leeway.

After listening to Leif's words, the middle-aged man turned his gaze to Lynn and looked him up and down a few times.

"Do you have anything to say?"

Lynn stood still, his expression calm.

He glanced at Leif's smug face, then slowly and deliberately said:

"The monitoring runes in the training ground will record everything that just happened."

"Sir, I suggest we retrieve the records to see what happened."

Upon hearing this, Leif's expression froze instantly.

Monitoring Rune!

He acted impulsively just now and completely forgot about this.

As an important public facility, the White Raven Tower sorcery training ground is indeed equipped with monitoring runes. Every test and every accident is recorded so that there is evidence to refer to in case of disputes.

Leif's face turned pale at a visible speed.

The middle-aged man glanced at Lynn, a hint of admiration in his eyes, then turned and waved to his subordinates.

"Go and retrieve the surveillance footage."

"yes!"

A law enforcement officer strode toward the control room at the training ground.

Less than three minutes later, the law enforcement officer returned, holding a recording crystal in his hands, and respectfully handed it to the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man channeled his spiritual energy into the recording crystal, and a projection appeared in mid-air.

The projected image clearly showed everything that had just happened:

First, Leif, accompanied by two henchmen, approached Lynn and began to mock him.

Then Lynn remained restrained throughout, making no aggressive moves, which seemed to be a calm response to a single sentence.

Finally, in a fit of rage, Fu Lai took the initiative to conjure a fireball and launched an attack on Lynn.

The surveillance footage clearly showed the cause-and-effect sequence of the entire process.

After reviewing the surveillance footage, the middle-aged man put down the crystal, turned around, and looked coldly at Leif.

"Now, is there anything else you want to say?"

Leif's originally pale face flushed red after watching the surveillance footage.

Because this was the complete opposite of what had happened before; it was clearly Lynn who used the Hand of Evocation to gag him.

How come I ended up using Fireball first?!

Suddenly, Leif looked up sharply at the law enforcement officers, as if he had realized something.

"Damn it, aren't you people afraid of being held accountable by the wizard behind me for doing this?"

The middle-aged man in the enforcement team had pity in his eyes.

"Poor child, the wizard Riley behind you has received orders from the White Raven Tower and has been away from the academy for three days."

"Didn't Lord Riley inform you?"

Leif's face instantly turned as pale as a sheet of paper.

His lips trembled, but he couldn't utter a single word.

Previously, the wizard Dela Riley, who was behind him, had also received orders from the White Raven Tower to leave the academy.

But back then, when he got into trouble, the law enforcement officers treated him with utmost respect.

But this time it was completely different. The law enforcement team's attitude towards him was drastically different. There is only one possibility that can explain this situation.

That must be the wizard Riley behind him; he probably won't be able to return to White Raven Tower!

wrong!

Since Wizard Riley isn't coming back, then according to the truth, it should be Lynn who should have been taken away.

Why would these people modify the surveillance footage? Could it be that this guy has some kind of background?

How could a clumsy herbalist apprentice from a humble nursery have any background?

Could it be that someone is targeting me, Leif?

The middle-aged man didn't give Leif a chance to continue thinking nonsense and simply waved his hand.

"Lefer, by launching a witchcraft attack on other apprentices without cause in the public training grounds, violates Article 37 of the White Raven Tower Regulations."

"Take him away, put him in solitary confinement for three days, and fine him three thousand gold coins."

Two law enforcement officers immediately stepped forward and grabbed Leif's arms from both sides.

Leif struggled violently, his voice filled with terror and anger.

"You can't arrest me! My uncle is Riley, a certified wizard! If you touch me, my uncle won't let you get away with it!"

The middle-aged man didn't even lift his eyelids.

"take away!"

Two law enforcement officers dragged Leif towards the exit of the training field without any hesitation.

Leif was dragged outside, still shouting, but the shouts faded into the distance and eventually disappeared outside the training ground gates.

His two henchmen looked at each other, then slunk away from the training ground without daring to utter a single word.

The training ground fell silent again.

The middle-aged man walked up to Lynn, his gaze lingering on him for a moment, before he spoke:

"You're Master Xue Teng's disciple?"

Lynn was slightly taken aback when he heard the other party address Bloodvine Wizard as "teacher." He hadn't expected the other party to call Bloodvine "teacher."

He nodded and performed a standard apprentice's salute.

"Yes, Your Excellency."

A rare smile appeared on the middle-aged man's face.

"There's no need for so much formality. I was also an apprentice in the Potions Department before, and later I followed Master Bloodvine for a while."

"Later, due to limitations in talent, he was stuck at the third-class apprentice level and couldn't advance, so he was directly transferred to the enforcement team."

"Speaking of which, I could say I'm your senior."

The middle-aged man laughed loudly and stepped forward to pat Lynn on the shoulder.
