The Secret of Second Marriage

Chapter 381 Thrilling Moment

However, I no longer want to pay attention to the various arguments online.

I got this role and I'm filming this movie in this small place.

I live in a mountainous area. Although the highways have been built quite well, the mountainous area is far from the city center, so it is still very inconvenient.

The village I filmed doesn't have running water yet; the water comes from wells collectively drawn by the villagers. They have to walk a long way to fetch water to drink, and they also grow a lot of vegetables.

The rolling mountains are planted with many peach trees, while the flat land at the foot of the mountains is planted with crops such as rice, peanuts, and corn.

Under the scorching May sun, I learned to hoe the ground with an old lady from the village. My hands were blistered from all the work, but I didn't complain at all.

I stayed in the village for about half a month, and our filming didn't officially begin until June.

I was preparing to return to Hengdian to attend the opening ceremony, but unexpectedly, I was targeted by a group of human traffickers.

When Uncle Geng, the driver, was taking me out of the village, a van kept following us as we drove through a stretch of mountainous public road without surveillance cameras.

The black van suddenly crashed into us. At the critical moment, Uncle Geng was injured while protecting me.

A sense of panic arose within me.

I don't know what enemy I offended that made them pay these thugs to kill me.

Uncle Geng, a professional special forces soldier, quickly bandaged his leg wound, then picked up a dagger, pulled me out of the car, and said to me, "Miss, this group of people came specifically to target us."

We live in a mountainous area, and the security situation should be much better now, so these problems shouldn't be happening.

But now we're in trouble.

I'll hold them off. You run! Run to a secluded spot to make a phone call or shout for help from any passing cars!

In short, whatever you do, don't let them catch you. Otherwise, if you're sold into slavery in the mountains, you won't even know how you'll escape.

The string in my mind snapped, my adrenaline surged, and I was so nervous that my body trembled uncontrollably, and my heart jumped into my throat.

I had only ever seen news reports of female college students being trafficked to rural mountainous areas, but I never imagined that I would experience it myself today.

I suddenly regretted coming here to film beforehand without making sufficient preparations. I only brought Uncle Geng with me; I should have brought at least a team.

But right now I'm just an insignificant female celebrity. I don't have that much fame, nor that much money to support a studio, assistants, and bodyguards.

I thought that in a society governed by the rule of law, these kinds of things wouldn't happen anymore, but I never expected this...

We watched as those masked men, dressed in particularly arrogant clothes, got out of the van and surrounded us, cursing and swearing: "Let me tell you, I've been following you for a long time. You're from the city, aren't you?"

The woman is quite pretty; she could definitely fetch a good price in these remote mountains.

As for the man, get out of here, and we might spare his life!

Uncle Geng said, "Miss, run!"

I was so nervous I couldn't even speak. I said to Uncle Geng, "Uncle Geng, you must take good care of yourself... I'm leaving now."

Uncle Geng said, "Who do these thugs think they are? If I hadn't been injured, I would have knocked them all out with one punch!"

"When I was a special forces soldier, you guys were probably still out there doing some petty theft."

As he spoke, he stepped forward and delivered an elbow strike followed by a side front leg grab and slam, knocking down a masked kidnapper.

Uncle Geng has extensive practical experience; he's been locked in combat with those people...

My heart was racing, my mind was blank, and all I could think about was running away. I absolutely couldn't stop here, I absolutely couldn't be sold. My life was so wonderful, it had just begun, I didn't want to be sold to the countryside to have children with those wild men.

I ran as fast as I could, but I couldn't run far in high heels, so I just threw them away and ran barefoot on the road...

I ran while calling for help, but the signal in the mountains was bad, and I couldn't get through to the police (110) even after several attempts.

I'm wondering who sold out my whereabouts? Was it Dong Yili, my ex-husband, or the rival company of General Manager Jiang that I offended before?

I had no definite answer in my mind, I just knew I had to run forward as fast as I could.

I ran for a very long time, and I felt two or three men chasing me with flashlights behind me.

I don't know how long I ran, but I feel like I ran at least several kilometers.

Just when I felt completely exhausted, a signal suddenly came back on the mountain, and the emergency call went through. I immediately dialed the police, crying, and said, "Help! Someone is kidnapping people on the highway..."

"Miss, don't be afraid. Stay in touch, and we'll arrange for the nearest police officer to come right away."

The police were talking over there.

I followed the police's instructions and immediately hid in the bushes under a big tree by the roadside. It was pitch black, and I couldn't see anything in the mountains except for the moon.

I rushed out of that valley, holding my breath, my heart pounding. Hearing footsteps approaching the group, and seeing I was gone, they panicked and said, "Where's that woman? She was just running this way! How did she disappear?"

"Yes! She must have disappeared somewhere nearby. Let's search everywhere."

This group of people came looking for me along the mountain path, calling out to me and even trying to scam me. I told them, "I saw you. Come out quickly, there are snakes in the mountains. If you don't come out, they might bite you and you could die."

But no matter what they said, I wouldn't come out; I hid myself well.

The mountain was too big. They kept looking for me, searching around the mountain several times but couldn't find me. I held my breath, turned off my phone, put it on silent, and hid it in my pocket. I squatted there for about 30 minutes.

These were probably the most thrilling 30 minutes of my life. I heard the sirens of police cars rushing to the scene, and the group of people also heard the police cars coming. They cursed, "That bitch must have called the police. Let's get out of here!"

They immediately got into the black van and drove off.

I waited until the police came to rescue me before I limped out of the bushes. My legs were numb from squatting. When I saw the police officers, tears welled up in my eyes.

I'm saved.
