Spring Night Kiss.

Chapter 40 You're Not Another Man

Song Qingjia put down the towel and walked over.

Through the peephole, you can see a tall figure, dressed in khaki loungewear, with slightly damp hair, carrying a bag in his hand.

She waited for a while until the person outside couldn't resist ringing the doorbell again before she opened the door.

Xu Zhouye deliberately put on a stern face and handed the bag in his hand forward: "Have some porridge, don't starve to death—"

The conversation abruptly stopped after the speaker recognized the clothing of the person inside the door.

The woman was wearing only a slip dress with thin straps hanging on her shoulders, revealing her delicate, fair collarbones and shoulder hollows.

Her wet hair draped over her shoulders, water droplets dripping from the ends and soaking a small patch of fabric on her chest.

His eyes darkened instantly, and then his brows furrowed.

"Why are you dressed like this?" His voice was also deep.

What should I wear?

Song Qingjia glanced down at herself; she looked perfectly normal. Then she looked up at him and caught a glimpse of his Adam's apple bobbing up and down.

She smiled and asked, "I just took a shower, what should I wear?"

Xu Zhouye frowned even more deeply: "You dress like this even when opening doors for others?"

Song Qingjia tilted her head: "No one else would come knocking on my door at this hour."

Xu Zhouye's Adam's apple bobbed again.

Is this woman deliberately saying things that could be misunderstood in order to seduce him?

He would never be fooled by such a petty trick.

Just as he was about to speak, the woman suddenly stepped aside, making room for him. Her beautiful eyes looked at him innocently, her red lips parted slightly: "Aren't you coming in?"

Xu Zhouye's temples throbbed twice.

"You invite other men in like this too?" He practically spat out those words through gritted teeth.

Song Qingjia almost thought he was a true gentleman, if he hadn't stepped inside the door the instant he finished speaking and closed it behind him.

She raised an eyebrow, watching the man casually survey her private space, before placing the bag in her hand on the dining table.

"Don't open the door to other men late at night in the future." Xu Zhouye became more and more worried and couldn't help but give him a word of advice.

Song Qingjia was picking up the towel he had casually tossed aside when he heard this and paused.

"Are you another man?" she asked, quite curious.

Xu Zhouye looked up at her, pursed his lips, and snorted coldly: "Don't think that just because you say some nice things to coax me, I'll agree to be your..."

"friends with benefits!"

Song Qingjia: "..."

She couldn't help but roll her eyes; that jerk was really delusional.

She turned around, sat down on the sofa with her back to him, and continued drying her hair with a towel. However, her movements were anything but gentle; anyone who saw her would feel sorry for her beautiful, black hair.

Xu Zhouye couldn't stand it anymore, so he went over and snatched the towel from her hand.

Song Qingjia turned and glared at him: "What are you doing!"

"At this rate, you'll go bald sooner or later."

"?"

"I'm not worried about you, I'm worried about your hair," Xu Zhouye said with disdain.

He pulled the person up from the sofa, led them to the dining table, and made them sit in a chair.

"Sit down," he said. "Drink your porridge first."

Song Qingjia blinked. The man was already standing behind her, a towel covering her hair, his movements much gentler than when she dried it herself. His fingers ran through her wet hair, wringing out the moisture strand by strand, as if handling something precious.

He realized this himself, and his fingers paused.

Don't overthink it—

"I know, it's about caring for your neighbors," Song Qingjia replied, having already mastered the art of answering quickly.

Xu Zhouye looked annoyed.

What is he doing? What is his relationship with her that he's drying her hair?

But he continued what he was doing, and remained defiant: "I'm just worried that if you get sick, it will delay my car upgrade."

Song Qingjia stopped scooping porridge. Speaking of cars, she actually had some questions she wanted to ask him. The data transmitted by the sensors was too cold and impersonal; she wanted to hear the driver's real feedback.

She suddenly stood up, jogged to the study to get her laptop, placed it on the coffee table, and then sat cross-legged on the carpet.

Xu Zhouye held the towel, completely bewildered.

"Come here quickly!" she urged, seeing that the person was still standing there.

Xu Zhouye glanced at the porridge on the table that had only been partially drunk, picked it up, and sat down next to Song Qingjia.

The carpet wasn't big, and the two people's knees almost touched.

"What are you doing?"

On the computer screen were his telemetry data from three stations: Australia, China, and Japan.

Song Qingjia swiped to the corner of his steering wheel, tilted her head to look at him, her eyes sparkling: "Just tell me, what did your hands feel like when this car went around a corner? Understeer? Fishtail?"

Xu Zhouye looked into her eyes and noticed that they changed completely whenever work was involved. The nonchalance in her eyes disappeared, replaced by a seriousness and stubbornness.

A hint of a smile flashed in his eyes. He put the bowl of porridge aside, took the mouse, clicked on one of the curves, and zoomed in.

"On this right turn, there's a raised curb at the exit point. Every time I go over it, the front wheel bounces, causing the front of the car to push outwards. I have to turn the steering wheel a bit more, wait for the tires to grip the road again, and then bring it back."

He moved a little closer, his thighs almost touching hers. A faint citrus scent wafted to his nose, seemingly the fragrance of her shower gel.

"The data shows that the correction amount is too large, but actually it's because I was talking to the driver."

"Talking in the car?" Song Qingjia raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm." He turned his head to look at her, a slight smile playing on his lips. "If it won't listen to me, I'll just scold it a couple of times."

Song Qingjia couldn't help but burst out laughing.

She turned to another page of the data and pointed to the power output curve: "What about here? You opened the throttle a little later than your teammate when exiting the corner, but the car's posture was actually more stable."

"Because the front wing doesn't provide enough downforce, the rear of the car is unstable when exiting corners, so I don't dare to go full throttle."

As Xu Zhouye spoke, he picked up the bowl of porridge, scooped a spoonful of porridge, and brought it to her lips.

She got so into it that she unconsciously opened her mouth to respond.

Xu Zhouye's brows relaxed, and the corners of his lips curved slightly.

The two continued their question-and-answer session, feeding each other more than half a bowl of porridge, and flipping through several pages of data.

Song Qingjia rubbed her belly and turned her head away from the spoon he offered again: "I'm not eating anymore, I'm going to get too fat."

Xu Zhouye put down his bowl and looked her up and down. She was slim where she should be and curvy where she should be. Where was she fat?

But he knew that when a woman said she was fat, he should just shut up.

Because whether you agree with her or disagree with her, it's wrong; remaining silent is the right answer.

He put down the bowl and asked her, "Is there anything else you'd like to know?"

Song Qingjia shook her head: "I haven't thought of anything yet. I'll look into it myself first and ask you later." She pointed to the sofa, "Do as you please, you can watch TV, it won't disturb me."

After speaking, he looked down at the driving feedback she had just recorded, and tried to translate it into design language in his mind.

Xu Zhouye didn't move and remained sitting next to her.

Watching her occasionally furrow her brow and then quickly relax; watching her write something on paper; watching her yawn with her hand over her mouth, her eyes glistening with tears.

This woman, the way she works, is damn captivating.

I can't watch anymore.

Xu Zhouye turned his face away, afraid that he would kiss him.
