From Alchemy Apprentice to All-Powerful God King

Chapter 30 The Knights' Guild Investigation

After leaving the guild, Matthew didn't rush home. Instead, he left the town alone and headed towards the border mountains.

Since the magic was born, his fatigue of the past few days has been completely swept away.

He felt more relaxed than ever before, even more exhilarated than when he first encountered magic.

"It's time to deal with some hidden dangers."

Matthew appeared alone in the shadows of the forest, heading towards the location of the last raid.

The only clue that the Knights and the Rogers family could find him was the wild knight who suddenly appeared that day.

He had to clean up all the traces of his actions that day before the other party arrived.

……

Outside the town of Val, in the exact opposite direction from the border, two carriages were speeding towards the town.

"Lucia, is your brother really missing?"

In the carriage ahead, Joel, with his long blond hair, cracked his whip and tilted his head toward the inside of the carriage to ask a question, but did not lift the curtain.

Inside the car, a woman with brown curly hair and a face that looked remarkably like Leon gazed out at the wilderness, her expression always aloof, but she revealed her annoyance when asked a question.

"It would have been better if that good-for-nothing had died there; he had to choose such a faraway place."

"Yes, with only a few months left until the selection of the Twelve Knights of the Radiant, it's really unlucky to send you to this remote and impoverished place to conduct an investigation at this time."

The two didn't talk much, but they revealed a lot of information, and seemed to believe that Leon had been murdered.

It should be noted that the people who came with Leon were the goddess Elena and the knight commander Gareth.

If a knight could disappear silently right under their noses, the perpetrator must be strong enough to easily silence them. Finding the culprit won't be easy for them.

"Who came from the Knights' Guild?" Lucia looked at the carriage behind her, her expression somewhat displeased.

Originally, she wanted to find a scapegoat and take him back to end the matter as soon as possible, but she didn't expect that the Knights would also send people.

This makes her plan somewhat difficult to implement.

It wasn't that the other party didn't want to end things sooner, but rather that the Rogers family and the Knights were not on good terms.

The other side will definitely try to trip her up during this investigation.

Only that silly boy Leon joined the Knights without hesitation to follow Elena, and then disappeared on his first mission.

"It must be Elena's people. They knew the news before us, but they delayed until we set off together. They probably wanted to keep an eye on us."

Joel analyzed the situation, and then, at Lucia's prompting, quickened the pace of his whip cracking.

Upon seeing this, the carriages behind also sped up.

"Lord Seth, they seem to be getting impatient." The coachman, dressed in knight's armor, also reported the situation into the carriage.

"Keep up with them, don't let them out of sight."

Inside the car, Seth, dressed in white as a missionary, was reading through the letters from the goddess Elena. After finishing reading them, he raised his finger.

A wisp of eerie green flame suddenly ignited, quickly engulfing the letter and turning it to ashes that drifted out of the car window.

"Elena, your ambition this time is too great..."

At dawn, two carriages drove into the Hunter's Guild in Val Town, one after the other.

The archmage in charge of receiving them had been waiting there since early morning and invited the four of them into the guild.

In a meeting room, Lucia and Seth sat facing each other, with all the guild's mages present, standing on either side.

The atmosphere was somewhat oppressive, and no one dared to speak.

The news of Leon's disappearance had already spread among those with special abilities; the disappearance of a knight was no small matter.

The archmages only breathed a sigh of relief after the alchemist entered the room and sat in the main seat.

"You two have come all the way from the Empire. My place is rather simple, please don't mind," the Alchemist Bishop said, breaking the awkward silence.

Seth leaned forward and nodded to the Alchemist Bishop: "Are you feeling better lately? Why isn't Luca here?"

The two chatted as if they had known each other for a long time, about things that had absolutely nothing to do with Leon.

"Seth, that's enough. You can have time for small talk later. Shouldn't we be talking about my brother now?" Lucia interrupted him, getting straight to the point.

Seth wasn't angry. He turned around, shut his mouth, and raised his hand to signal that she could begin.

After a moment of silence in the conference room, Lucia looked at the Alchemist Bishop and asked.

"Bishop Lumir, you should know the most about Leon, right? I hope you can tell me everything you know so that this matter can be resolved as soon as possible."

For a moment, no one in the room made a sound, and Seth still acted as if it was none of his business.

After a moment of silence, Lumir posed this difficult question to the archmage below.

"If any of you know anything about Leon, whether it's useful or not, please tell us."

Immediately, whispers filled the room, but no one dared to speak up.

Seeing this, Lucia also became annoyed: "One useful piece of information, ten gold coins!"

Upon hearing Lucia's offer, Flynn, who had been unable to contain himself any longer, spoke up immediately.

"I know who he has a conflict with!"

"explain!"

Lucia simply took out ten gold coins and placed them on the table.

Flynn looked at the gold coins and swallowed hard. "Your brother Leon also participated in the alchemist assessment at the guild last time, but he was beaten to first place by another apprentice."

"I also heard that the goddess Elena is very interested in that apprentice, and Leon assigned him an impossible task before the campaign."

He didn't dare to say Matthew's name directly, because he had only heard about it from the alchemists who had returned from their campaigns.

Upon hearing this, Lucia knew that this was something her idiotic brother would do, so she added ten gold coins.

"Continue, is there anything else?"

Flynn thought for a moment, then blurted it out.

"The last person to see Leon was also that alchemist."

"What was that alchemist's name?"

Lucia immediately grasped the key point and asked a question.

Flynn, on the other hand, was somewhat troubled. When he looked at the alchemist bishop, he found that the other man's eyes were closed and he was oblivious to everything around him. So, he gritted his teeth and said Matthew's name.

"Where is he? Call him over and question him in person!"

"I'll go find it right now!"

Lured by money, Flynn betrayed Matthew, who had already slipped out of his control.

However, after waiting for several tens of minutes, Flynn rushed into the meeting room, panting, and pointed outside while leaning against the door frame.

"Matthew...Matthew, he's escaped!"

Upon hearing this, the expressions of the people in the room varied.

The alchemist opened his eyes, frowned, and turned to look at Flynn.

Lucia suddenly stood up, surprised that she had found the murderer so easily. She released her magic and prepared to go out to capture Matthew.

Seth also stood up, reached out to stop Lucia who was about to leave, and asked Flynn a question.

"You say Matthew ran away, do you have any evidence?"

"This... I went to his house and the alchemy workshop, but I couldn't find him. The neighbors also said he didn't come home last night." Flynn felt the magic of the two people in front of him and felt suffocated, with cold sweat constantly seeping from his forehead.

These circumstances do not necessarily indicate that the other party has escaped; it is mainly due to his exaggerated and misleading statements.

Just as the group was locked in a stalemate, Luca's voice suddenly came from downstairs in the guild building.

"Matthew, you're finally back!"
