We ordinary people also need to fall in love.

Chapter 248 Making a Cage Sleep

"Li Mubai, Xie Shu, you've arrived?"

Chen Qiuhe came forward, wearing a brown apron and holding a menu in her hand.

"Long time no see, I didn't expect business to be so good." Li Mubai looked around and exclaimed.

"Because a food blogger came to our store and promoted it, we've had a lot more customers than before. My cousin is even thinking about whether we should hire another person."

I see… Li Mubai nodded to himself.

"By the way, Shu Bao, were you busy last night? I sent you a message, but I haven't seen you reply yet." Chen Qiuhe turned her gaze to Xie Shu.

Li Mubai stiffened slightly. What if Chen Qiuhe found out that Xie Shu stayed at his house last night...?

"My phone broke, and the new phone I ordered online hasn't arrived yet." Xie Shu's tone was natural, and there was no flaw in his statement.

"Yeah?"

A question flashed through Chen Qiuhe's mind: how did Li Mubai contact Xie Shu so that the two of them came together?

Just as she was about to ask a question, Chen Yushan's voice came from the kitchen: "Qiuhe, take this cake to the guests at table number five."

"Oh, I'm here!" Chen Qiuhe replied hastily, then turned to them and said, "Li Mubai, Xie Shu, find a seat and rest for a bit, I'll be there in a bit."

"You go ahead and get busy."

Li Mubai and Xie Shu walked around the shop.

Most customers come here to take photos; the first thing they do after the cake is served isn't to eat it, but to take out their phones and take pictures from all angles.

He spotted an empty table in the corner and quickly led Xie Shu to sit down there.

"Luckily, there's still one seat left." Li Mubai breathed a sigh of relief.

"Um."

He noticed that Xie Shu seemed a little distracted, so he turned to look at her and asked softly, "What's wrong?"

"Did my parents... reply to your text message?"

So that's what he was worried about. Li Mubai took out his phone and glanced at it; the screen was empty. "Not yet."

Xie Shu nodded slightly and lowered his eyes.

"It's alright," Li Mubai said, holding her hand.

"Okay." She looked up and gave a slight smile.

"Come on, let's go out and have some fun!"

Chen Qiuhe had taken off her apron at some point, put on a white T-shirt, and retied her hair, making her look much more refreshed.

"Is the shop not busy anymore?" Li Mubai asked, looking up at her.

"It's alright, there are fewer people in the afternoon anyway, and my cousin even gave me half a day off." Chen Qiuhe said, pulling Xie Shu's arm as if to walk out.

Li Mubai looked around and saw that the place was indeed much emptier than before. He stood up and followed the others towards the shop entrance.

Chen Yu-shan waved to them from the front desk and said with a smile, "Be careful."

……

"Where are we going today?" Li Mubai asked as soon as they stepped out of the store.

Chen Qiuhe, with one arm linked with Xie Shu's, counted on her fingers with the other and said seriously, "Firstly, we're going to take the subway to Yuelin Park. What's more, we'll go play in the park. Finally, we'll have dinner, and then we'll all go home."

Chen Qiuhe must be completely confused by memorizing English essay templates...

"Xie Shu, is that alright?" he asked, turning his head.

"OK."

"Haha, this is probably the last time I'll go to an amusement park. I probably won't have the chance again." Chen Qiuhe laughed, her eyes crinkling.

Yuelin Park, Li Mubai's most recent memory of it is the summer between the second and third years of junior high school, and now it is the summer between the second and third years of senior high school.

The afternoon sun was at its most intense. After just a few subway stops from Yong'an Street, they arrived at Yuelin. Chen Qiuhe snatched Li Mubai's parasol and opened it, sheltering herself and Xie Shuyan completely under its shade.

"It's good for boys' health to get more sun exposure," she said matter-of-factly.

Li Mubai was too lazy to refute; all he was doing was being blinded by the sun.

"By the way, Li Mubai, Xie Shu, have you been to Yuelin Park before?" Chen Qiuhe asked as they walked.

"I've been here twice." Li Mubai's first time was in elementary school.

"Hmm—I've never been here." Xie Shu shook his head.

"My God! Yuelin Park is practically the park where people from Pingyang grew up! Xie Shu, you've never been here before!"

"I only came to Pingyang during junior high school," Xie Shu explained.

"Alright, alright, then you'd better experience it properly this time."

"By the way, Chen Qiuhe, do we need tickets to enter the park now?" Li Mubai suddenly remembered this question.

"Need not."

She swaggered in with Xie Shu. Xie Shu didn't bring any money, but Li Mubai had already planned to pay for her expenses.

"Our first stop is the pirate ship!" Chen Qiuhe excitedly pointed to the ship-shaped structure that was sticking up high in the distance.

Xie Shu didn't speak, but glanced at Li Mubai.

"Okay, where do I buy the tickets?" Li Mubai asked.

"What? Are you going to treat us?" Chen Qiuhe glanced at him sideways.

"I'll buy it for Xie Shu."

"I'll buy it for Xie Shu—" Chen Qiuhe deliberately dragged out her words, mimicking his tone, "Why won't you buy it for me?"

"You're richer than me, why would I buy it for you?"

"Isn't Xie Shu richer...?" Chen Qiuhe was about to say that Xie Shu was richer, but then she thought better of it. She just wanted to tease Li Mubai.

"Thank you," Xie Shu said softly to Li Mubai, turning his head to the side.

She did indeed restrain herself a lot in public, even saying thank you to Li Mubai.

"It's okay, whatever you want to play, I'll buy it for you."

Fortunately, the cost of living at Yuelin Park wasn't too high, which gave Li Mubai the confidence to say that.

Xie Shu and Chen Qiuhe sat side by side, while Li Mubai sat next to Xie Shu.

"Don't throw up later," Chen Qiuhe said to Li Mubai, sticking her head out.

He's not a pirate ship; he's ridden a drop tower.

The ship began to sway, and the amplitude of the sway increased.

The wind whistled past my ears, and screams and laughter rose and fell all around me.

Li Mubai glanced at Xie Shu beside him. She gently took his hand. The wind lifted her hair, revealing a calm face, like still water in an ancient well.

After leaving the house, Xie Shu seemed to gradually transform from the cheerful girl next door back into her usual self, calm and quiet.

From 2 PM to a little past 3 PM, the three of them wandered around the amusement park again and again. Chen Qiuhe was the happiest, in high spirits the whole time, dragging Xie Shu and Li Mubai to try every single ride.

Finally, they found a bench to sit down and calm down after riding the roller coaster.

"Delicious, delicious." Chen Qiuhe held up a nearly melted ice cream, eating it with her mouth full, not caring about her image at all.

She sat quietly next to Li Mubai, licking her ice cream in small, unhurried bites.

"Would you like to try some?" Xie Shu asked, holding up the ice cream after noticing Li Mubai staring at him.

"Yeah, you two eat one, I'm a big eater, I'll eat one," Chen Qiuhe urged.

"No need, you can eat." Li Mubai smiled and waved his hand.

He noticed a small drop of ice cream on Xie Shu's lips, so he took out a tissue from his pocket, pulled one out, and handed it to her: "You have some on your lips."

"Give me one too." Chen Qiuhe held out her hand.

"I thought you were going to become a savage." Li Mubai drew another card for her.

"Hehe." Chen Qiuhe took the tissue and wiped her mouth haphazardly a couple of times.

"Help me wipe this," Xie said abruptly.

"Huh?" Li Mubai was taken aback.

"Huh?!" Chen Qiuhe was also taken aback.

"I'm holding an ice cream cone, it's not convenient for me to wipe it, could you help me?" Xie Shu's tone was very calm, as if he were talking about something perfectly normal.

Actually, you can hold the ice cream in one hand and a tissue in the other...

But in the end, despite Chen Qiuhe's burning gaze, Li Mubai still unfolded a clean tissue, leaned over, and gently wiped Xie Shu's lips.

Her skin felt cool, and as the tissue brushed against it, her clear eyes blinked.

"I'm not eating dinner," Chen Qiuhe suddenly said.

"What's wrong?" Li Mubai and Xie Shu looked at her in confusion.

"I feel unwell, and I'm full."

"Hmph." Xie Shu chuckled softly, a smile on his face, looking much happier.
