Li Mubai gently knocked on the office door.

"Come in."

The door wasn't closed; he knocked only out of politeness.

The windows were wide open, and the evening breeze swept through the room, but it couldn't dispel the oppressive atmosphere in the office.

Xie Shu stood to the side and glanced at him.

"What is it?" Wu Changguo raised his head, his gaze falling on Li Mubai.

Li Mubai quietly rubbed his fingers together and asked, "Teacher Wu, I'd like to ask, what are the criteria for class assignments?"

The air suddenly became quiet for a few seconds.

"Go and close the door," Wu Changguo said.

The steel door closed, immediately shutting out most of the noise from outside the office.

"The class assignments are quite complicated; they are all randomly assigned. The school leaders have already reviewed the list," Wu Changguo replied, frowning.

"Can we let Li Mubai stay in Class 3?" Xie Shu asked directly.

"No." Wu Changguo said without hesitation, "As I just said, the list has been reviewed by the school leaders and cannot be changed."

"That……"

Xie Shu wanted to say something, but Li Mubai gently poked the back of his hand, which was hanging under the desk.

"Ms. Wu, if I go to the new class, will you still be the homeroom teacher?" Li Mubai asked.

"no."

Li Mubai and Xie Shu both fell silent.

"Alright, if there's nothing else, go back and prepare for the next evening self-study session." Wu Changguo paused, his tone becoming a bit more serious. "Also, you're already in your final year of high school, it's time to focus and get into full-on review for the college entrance exam."

Both of them heard the subtle warning in his words.

"How was it?" Chen Qiuhe stood at the office door with her books in her arms, and came over as soon as they came out.

Xie Shu didn't speak. Li Mubai shook his head.

"It's already the final year of high school, why are they still dividing students into classes? Aren't they afraid that some people will be affected?" Chen Qiuhe couldn't help but complain.

"Who knows?" Li Mubai smiled helplessly.

"Honestly, I'll blow up the school one day," Chen Qiuhe said viciously.

"Alright, I'm going now. It's not like I'm transferring schools, it's just one floor apart." Li Mubai took the book from Chen Qiuhe and looked at Xie Shu, "You guys should go back to your evening self-study sessions too."

"Hmm." Xie Shu nodded slowly.

Li Mubai turned and went upstairs. Xie Shu and Chen Qiuhe only returned to the classroom after they saw him disappear from the floor. Perhaps she was too sensitive, but she always felt that something bad would happen after the class division.

Li Mubai arrived at his new class almost as soon as the bell rang. He glanced at the class sign on the door—Senior Three (18) Class—and felt as if he had fallen from the clouds to the bottom of the valley.

The classroom was as quiet as a stagnant pool, without a sound. He took a deep breath and stepped inside.

"You're already in your final year of high school, how can you still be late? Don't you have any sense of time?" A hoarse voice of criticism boomed from the podium, like a thunderclap.

"I'm sorry, Professor Zhong, I have a lot of books, so it took me a while to pack them up."

Their new homeroom teacher was none other than Zhong Jianjun… A sense of unease rose in Li Mubai’s heart.

Zhong Jianjun's face was grim, and his expression was not good.

He was known for his imposing presence at school; even in group photos, he always seemed to have this stern expression.

He didn't have Teacher Chen's fierce physique; his slightly hunched figure, though standing there, exuded an aura of authority without needing to be angry.

"Why aren't the other students like you?" His gaze swept across the entire class. "From the first evening self-study session to the second, those ten minutes could have been used for many other things, but you all wasted them."

Li Mubai lowered his head and remained silent.

The students in the classroom all lowered their heads, feeling suffocated by a heavy atmosphere.

"What are you still doing standing at the door? Find a seat." Zhong Jianjun glanced at Li Mubai, who was still standing at the front door.

Li Mubai looked up, finally having a chance to carefully examine the layout of the new classroom. It was spacious, with too few people, and everyone had their own desk. He was sure he would get caught daydreaming or spacing out in a classroom like this.

His eyes quickly searched for Zhao Feng's location; the other party seemed to have said he would save a seat for him.

His gaze quickly settled on the middle of the window. He looked around Zhao Feng and saw that there seemed to be people sitting there. There was even a boy he didn't recognize sitting to his right.

"What are you still looking at? Don't you want to sit?"

Zhong Jianjun's urging voice rang out again. Li Mubai's gaze swept over the only remaining empty seat in the classroom, and he had no choice but to walk over—the first row directly below the podium.

Fortunately, the desks weren't right next to the teacher's podium; there was some distance between them, so seeing the blackboard wasn't too difficult.

He glanced discreetly to his left and right; both sides were filled with girls.

"Starting today, I will be your homeroom teacher and Chinese language teacher." Zhong Jianjun said with his hands behind his back, his voice hoarse but full of energy. "I have already coordinated the curriculum with your previous Chinese language teacher, and we will officially begin reviewing tomorrow."

Every word he uttered was like a muffled thunderclap, echoing throughout the classroom.

"In my class, in my lessons, everyone must be on their toes, especially in the senior year. First, early romantic relationships are strictly prohibited. If this happens, the parents will be called in immediately. This is not a suggestion, it is a requirement."

The first thing he said made Li Mubai's heart skip a beat. After evening self-study, would he be invited for tea by Zhong Jianjun again?

Zhong Jianjun spoke slowly but efficiently announced his series of class requirements. Only at this moment did Li Mubai realize that Class 3 was simply paradise.

Class 18 looked tidy, but there wasn't a single green plant on the windowsill, let alone that pot of refreshing jasmine.

He quietly raised his head, and it seemed as if a red light was flashing on top of the blackboard. What was that?

"You come from various parallel classes, but most of you were assigned from Class 3. I have gotten to know each of you. I have arranged the new class committee members for you. Go and check the bulletin board after evening self-study."

Zhong Jianjun scanned the room, finally fixing his gaze on Li Mubai.

"Now, start your self-study. Take out your textbooks and preview tomorrow's lessons. You are not allowed to make a sound. The blackboard is a surveillance camera. I will check the class's self-study situation from time to time when I am not here."

After the words were spoken, there was a few seconds of silence in the classroom. Then the students carefully took their books out of their desks, moving very cautiously, as if afraid of making the slightest noise.

Ring ring—

The bell rang, but Zhong Jianjun, sitting on the podium, remained motionless, still looking down at the book in his hands.

No one dared to be the first to stand up.

Li Mubai put down his pen, stood up, and went outside the classroom to get some fresh air.

Zhong Jianjun didn't react much, but the students who were still sitting gradually became bolder, and some of them stood up and went to the bulletin board.

"Holy crap! You're still the class monitor!"
