Shen Man suddenly felt a pang of sadness, so she tiptoed and reached out to put the scarf around his neck.

Jiang Chengzhou uttered an "Eh," but didn't dare to make a move.

Shen Man wrapped her scarf properly and said indifferently, "Anyway, I've never seen you guys clean. So what if you're dirty?"

The two smiled at each other. Jiang Chengzhou went into the tent and took out several letters. "Shen Man, these are letters I wrote home. I'll leave them with you for now. If I come back, return them to me. If I don't come back, please take them back for me."

"Ptooey! Ptooey! Ptooey!"

Shen Man glared at him, "Are you sick? Spit it out right now."

"Pah, pah, pah," Jiang Chengzhou did as he was told, laughing, "I'm sure I'll be back. This is just in case."

She grabbed the cookies and ran back, but Jiang Chengzhou, with his long legs and quick feet, had already disappeared from sight.

Shen Man, clutching the packets of biscuits, chased after them, passing several tents, and from afar she could hear the laughter of Jiang Chengzhou and several soldiers.

She paused, instinctively leaning against the back of a tent, and didn't go any further.

"Platoon leader, is Dr. Shen your girlfriend? She even gave you a scarf. How thoughtful of her."

Jiang Chengzhou's voice rang out immediately, "Don't talk nonsense here. Dr. Shen is a good friend I grew up with. He kindly gave me a scarf. Don't spread rumors and ruin his reputation."

Shen Man stood behind the tent, her fingers unconsciously squeezing the biscuit in her hand.

Shen Man steadied herself, glanced at the person beside her in the dim light, and whispered, "Jiang Chengzhou?"

"It's me," Jiang Chengzhou chuckled. "You recognize me?"

He was wearing camouflage training uniform, and his cheeks were smeared with a layer of dark yellow mud to cover the reflection of his skin, revealing only a pair of dark eyes with a somber expression.
