Humans cannot imagine things they have never seen.

Lynn couldn't imagine that an island would suddenly appear in the near sea.

Yesterday he was herding livestock in this area, worms scavenging the fungal carpet on the mudflats, and he glanced out to sea from the rocks. There was nothing there then. Today Ruby told him that several islands had appeared in the nearshore waters.

So magical.

It's like when we suddenly learned that clownfish can change sex.

However, Ruby is extremely serious when she works. She doesn't slack off on things like this.

Lynn wiped her body and sat in her wheelchair.

He stared intently at Ruby.

Ruby exhaled, picked up a test tube from the corner of the table, and placed it on the stone table between the two of them.

"According to my research, worm seedlings hatch in frozen environments, but they can only grow rapidly in sufficiently warm conditions. Those islands are most likely hydrothermal vents created by geological activity. You could collect some samples to analyze."

"If the type of substance is similar to the hot spring in our experimental station, then we'll have to leave."

Lynn took the test tube. The tube walls were probably made of some kind of organism's exoskeleton, making them shatterproof. So after resting for a while...

He put the test tube into the left pocket of his only remaining pair of pants.

He left out a sentence

"I'll be right back."

Then he pushed open the door and left.

...

Since the mission was to investigate the hot springs, Lynn didn't bring the worms along.

There are two downsides to using worms as a means of transportation: they're noisy and require a period of wake-up. After being taken out of the refrigerator, worms need time to warm up to their active state. During this recovery period, they can't do anything except bury themselves in the fungal carpet.

To put it bluntly, apart from having a little more magic, worms are no different from beef cattle; in terms of combat power, they are just a bunch of rotten fish and shrimp.

It was pierced through a hundred times by a flying stick. It's hard to imagine what other survival advantages this creature has besides being able to reproduce and going into heat year-round like humans.

After reciting the mantra, Lynn walked while fully releasing the blue light algae. The algal filaments on his arm unfurled.

One of the algae was observed to be a full circle larger than the others, and the fluorescence at the tips of its tentacles was greenish, unlike the pale blue of common blue-green algae. It remained motionless and did not reproduce.

It just occupies a spot there.

Lynn opened the panel.

Lynn finally understood the whole story.

"This is a combination of certain types of algae."

"Therefore, it only needs to be induced with high-energy soil once to reproduce continuously."

It has higher consumption, but also higher output.

Thinking of this, Lynn glanced at the data.

According to the traditional hierarchy of knights, he has already entered the realm of knights. He can take on an entire van full of ordinary people by himself.

However, in the wizarding world, only magic reigns supreme.

Now an opportunity has presented itself to him: to exchange stamina (nutrition) for magic to increase his speed.

Lynn's opinion on this was: The advantage is in my hands, give me the advantage.

"Retain one percent of the common species, and replace the rest with magical blue light algae."

...

..

Lynn strolled along the beach, which smelled sweet, swimming and observing as she went.

The shallow sea is Lynn's comfort zone. The hot springs are Lynn's Eden.

If you were to ask Lynn what her favorite environment is right now, it would undoubtedly be a stormy night without flying clubs, soaking in a hot spring at sea. Improving her physical abilities while soaking in hot water, and letting the magic-enriched blue algae absorb lightning crystals to increase her magic power—it's truly a wonderful thing.

About six minutes later, Lynn landed on the first island.

The island was not much larger than the canvas field of the experimental station. The stones underfoot were dark black, with a texture almost identical to the cooled lava walls in a cave.

The stone surface was slightly warm. It was riddled with holes, some as small as a fingertip, others large enough to fit a fist. Occasionally, a bubble would rise from one of these holes, pop open, and release a faint sulfurous smell. Other than that, there was nothing particularly special about it.

He walked around the island. There was a thin layer of fungal carpet on the edge of the island, grayish-white, the same species as the one in the cave, which had been gnawed on by something, with file-like scratches on the surface.

Lynn followed the scratches toward the center of the island and saw a worm wriggling its rear end in the soil behind a slightly arched rock.

The worm's body was half-buried in the black mud and sand, with its exposed tail swaying from side to side and its abdomen rhythmically opening and closing.

It is mating.

Lynn lowered his body and silently approached, stepping on the algae.

A fawning smile, a sinister grin.

I am a giant algae.

You can't see me

As expected, no lower organisms, such as worms, were found.

Lynn's choice was

Raid!

Lynn extended his right hand.

Lynn collected all the worms in an instant.

"I am your leader. How dare you mate with worms without my permission?"

He pulled the worm out of the mud, flicked its head, and the worm moved its body in the air, exhaling.

But Lynn's 1.8 power wizard three punches showed it what obedience is.

The worm stopped breathing and stared longingly at the other one in the soil.

Lynn was very grateful for his contribution to her survival.

Therefore, in order to commend him,

Lynn also pulled his partner out of the mud.

"Don't worry, I'll give you a reunion."

Everyone has their own flawless future.

Lynn did the same. He found a second one in a crevice on the back of the island, a third in a pile of rubble near the water, and a fourth next to the small, steaming hole in the center of the island. They were all mating. He pulled them out one by one, attached them to a leash, and the four new worms were tied together, wriggling at the end of the leash.

The harvest was good.

He took the test tube out of his pocket, filled it halfway with water from the hot spring at the edge of the island, and then scraped some debris off the rock surface and put it in.

The liquid in the test tube was cloudy, with tiny black suspended particles, and smelled almost exactly like the one in the hot spring cave at the experimental station.

The second island was not far to the east of the first, smaller in size, only about the size of a mattress. There were no worms on the island, the rocks were about the same temperature as the first, and the bubbles rising from the pores were less frequent. He took a water sample and didn't linger.

By the time the third island came into view, Lynn had been swimming for almost twenty minutes. This one was larger than the previous two, but nothing particularly special about it.

Only black mist and wisps of cloud remained on the island.

Lynn was taken aback.

"It can't be a flying stick, can it?"

He lowered his body, leaving only his eyes and nostrils above the water, and slowly moved towards the island.

Just then, a glimmer of light flashed across the gloomy sky.

A few low rumbling sounds could be faintly heard from within the clouds.

Thirty seconds later, a torrential downpour began.

Lynn stopped paddling and floated on the surface of the water.

This

"This is bad!"

We encountered thunderstorms.

There are also worm colonies nearby.

The temperature of the hot spring is not low.

This is really bad.

Lynn immediately pounced down, disguising himself as a clump of wild grass on the sea.

"Have I wandered into a buffet restaurant specializing in flying sticks?"

Sure enough, two beams of light shot out from the sky.
