The carefree life of Yang Shuisheng, the village miracle doctor

Chapter 004 I need to help you suck it out first, sister-in-law!

Without thinking twice, Yang Shuisheng immediately ran in the direction from which the cries for help came.

After passing a dense patch of reeds, a person was seen struggling in the water at a place where the current was relatively rapid upstream. His black hair was spread out like seaweed, sometimes sinking and sometimes floating.

He rushed over, dove into the water, and swam quickly to the man's side.

The person who fell into the water panicked. When he sensed someone approaching, he clung to them as if grasping at a lifeline, almost dragging Yang Shuisheng into the water as well.

Yang Shuisheng steadied himself and wrapped his arms around the other person's waist from behind, touching a soft and plump body.

Without thinking too much, he half-dragged and half-carried the person towards the shore.

In the struggle, his hands inevitably touched many soft places he shouldn't have. The person in his arms stiffened for a moment, but her survival instinct made her hold on even tighter.

After finally managing to drag the person ashore, both of them were panting heavily.

Only then did Yang Shuisheng get a clear look at the face of the person who had fallen into the water.

It is white lotus.

Everyone in the village calls her Sister Bai, but she is only twenty-six years old, two years younger than Liu Yulan. Her husband works away from home all year round, and she lives alone.

She was soaked to the bone, her thin summer shirt clinging to her body, outlining her breathtaking curves, which were in no way inferior to Liu Yulan's.

Her wet hair clung to her face, which only accentuated the delicate features of her face, giving her a fragile look that suggested she was still shaken.

"Cough cough... Thank you... Shuisheng, thank you..."

Bai Qinglian coughed up some water, patted her chest, and thanked him, her voice still trembling slightly as she regained her composure.

She realized her disheveled appearance, her face flushed slightly, and she subconsciously covered her chest with her arm.

"It's alright, Sister Bai." Yang Shuisheng looked away from the pool and tried to break the awkward silence with a conversation, "By the way, how did you fall in? The water here is quite deep."

Bai Qinglian glanced at the pool with lingering fear: "I came to the back mountain to collect some firewood. It's too hot, so I wanted to come here to have a drink of water and rest."

"I was squatting on that rock, drinking water, when suddenly a water snake jumped out of the water. It scared me to death."

"I stepped back, and my foot slipped..."

As she spoke, she tried to stand up, but as soon as she moved, she suddenly hissed and gasped for breath, her brows furrowing tightly as she covered the upper part of her right thigh with her hand.

"What's wrong, Sister Bai?" Yang Shuisheng asked.

"It hurts a little here..."

Bai Qinglian's face turned a little pale. She moved her hand away and carefully rolled up her soaked trouser leg a little.

On the outside of her thigh, on her snow-white skin, there were two small blood spots, and the area around them had begun to turn slightly red and swollen.

It's a snake bite mark!

It's very likely the snake that startled her earlier.

"A snake bit me!"

Bai Qinglian's voice changed, filled with sobs and panic.

Yang Shuisheng felt a chill and immediately leaned closer to examine the wound carefully.

"Did you see what kind of snake it was? What was its color? What were its markings?"

Bai Qinglian shook her head frantically, tears welling in her eyes: "I didn't see clearly... I just saw a dark blur, and it disappeared into the water in an instant..."

"Shuisheng, am I going to die?"

Two years ago, someone in the village died because they were bitten by a snake and didn't receive timely treatment, so she was terrified.

"Don't panic."

Yang Shuisheng pressed down on her shoulder, his tone steady.

The knowledge about poisons and treatment from the Peach Jade Immortal Venerable's inheritance flashed through his mind in an instant.

"We can't tell what kind of snake it is, and we don't know how venomous it is. We can't delay."

"First, we need to suck out some of the poisonous blood for you, sister-in-law, to prevent it from spreading, and then we'll apply some herbal medicine."

"Suck...suck it out?"

Bai Qinglian froze, her face turning bright red.

The wound was located too high, near the groin, and she couldn't reach it herself.

Yang Shuisheng realized this as well. He looked at the wound, then at Bai Qinglian's blushing face and panicked eyes, and said in a deep voice, "Sister Bai, the situation is urgent, we can't worry about that now."

"You can't do it yourself, only I can help you."

Bai Qinglian bit her lip, her face flushed red and pale, a mixture of fear and shame.

But looking into Yang Shuisheng's calm and serious eyes, and thinking of the potential danger to her life, she finally closed her eyes and nodded, her voice barely audible: "Then I'll trouble you, Shuisheng..."

"I'm sorry."

With tacit approval, Yang Shuisheng no longer hesitated.

He helped Bai Qinglian sit down, then squatted down and carefully rolled up her trouser leg until the skin around the wound was fully exposed.

The pale, smooth inner thigh flashed before his eyes. Yang Shuisheng steadied himself, cleared his mind of distractions, lowered his head, and approached the wound.

"Hmm~~"

When his lips touched that slightly swollen skin, he could clearly feel Bai Qinglian's body tremble violently, and a soft, trembling moan escaped from her throat.

Yang Shuisheng sucked hard, then turned his head and spat out several mouthfuls of dark red blood.

This process was repeated several times until the blood vomited turned bright red.

During the process, Bai Qinglian kept her eyes tightly closed, her body was stiff, her face and neck were flushed, her breathing was rapid, and her hands gripped the grass on the ground tightly.

After sucking out the poisonous blood, Yang Shuisheng examined the wound carefully again; the swelling did not seem to have worsened.

He immediately got up and quickly searched the vicinity.

Soon, he found a few Lobelia chinensis plants and some dandelion seeds, chewed them up, and then applied them to Bai Qinglian's wound. He also tore off a relatively clean hem from his undershirt and used it to bandage and secure the wound.

Applying the cooling herbs significantly reduced the burning, stinging sensation.

Bai Qinglian slowly came to her senses and let out a long sigh of relief.

She watched as Yang Shuisheng skillfully treated the wound, his eyes and movements steady and decisive, completely unlike his usual foolish and bewildered appearance.

An incredible idea popped into my head.

"Shuisheng...you...your illness...seems to be cured?" she asked tentatively and cautiously.

Yang Shuisheng paused in bandaging his hands, then looked up at her.

Although there was doubt in Bai Qinglian's eyes, there was no malice.

He recalled how, when he was considered foolish, many people in the village looked down on him.

Only a few people, such as Liu Yulan and Bai Qinglian, would occasionally sneak him some food to keep the other children from bullying him.

"Okay, all done."

Yang Shuisheng nodded, making no attempt to hide anything.

"Just now, I accidentally tripped and bumped my head, but I'm all right now."

"Sister Bai, please don't tell anyone about this yet, okay?"

Bai Qinglian was startled at first, then suddenly realized, and nodded vigorously, her face showing genuine joy: "It's alright! It's alright!"

"Don't worry, my sister-in-law is tight-lipped, she won't tell anyone." She paused, then lowered her voice, "We should keep it a secret, there are some people in the village... who can't stand seeing others do well."

Yang Shuisheng smiled but didn't respond.

Feeling better in her legs and less in pain, Bai Qinglian tried to stand up. Although her legs were still a little weak, she could walk a little.

"Shuisheng, thanks to you today, otherwise I might be dead."

She glanced at the sky, then suddenly remembered something and said to Yang Shuisheng, "Come on, let's go home. I'll cook for you."

She knew that Yang Shuisheng lived alone and didn't know where his next meal would come from.

Yang Shuisheng didn't refuse. He helped Bai Qinglian gather the scattered firewood, bundled it into a sturdy bundle, and easily carried it on his back.

Bai Qinglian carried a small basket filled with wild vegetables, and the two of them went down the mountain one after the other.

On the way, I met several villagers returning from the fields.

Seeing Yang Shuisheng carrying firewood and following behind the young widow Bai Qinglian, some people grinned and teased.

"Oh, Bai family's daughter-in-law, are you using our idiot Shuisheng as your laborer?"

"Shuisheng, did Aunt Bai give you some candy? Don't tire yourself out carrying so much firewood!"

Upon hearing this, Yang Shuisheng immediately grinned, revealing his signature simple smile, and mumbled two "hehe" sounds. He didn't reply and just kept walking with his head down.

"Get lost, you can't expect anything good to come out of a dog's mouth."

Bai Qinglian's face hardened, and she spat at those people.

"I think Shui Sheng is much better than you lazybones."

"Others are willing to lend a helping hand to a poor, lonely woman like me, unlike you people who only know how to gossip."

Those people weren't annoyed by the insults; they seemed used to it and walked away laughing and joking.

Yang Shuisheng knew that he hadn't even started practicing his cultivation technique yet, and his strength was far from sufficient. Now was definitely not the time to completely reveal his true colors.

Playing dumb is the best option.

Upon arriving at Bai Qinglian's courtyard, she took out her key and opened the somewhat old wooden door, a smile on her face: "Come in quickly, Shuisheng, your sister-in-law will make you some scrambled eggs today..."

But before she could finish speaking, her voice caught in her throat.

In the courtyard, a dark-skinned man wearing a wrinkled Brazilian suit and carrying a duffel bag was squatting under the eaves smoking.

Hearing the door open, the man looked up and saw Bai Qinglian at the door and Yang Shuisheng carrying firewood behind her. His face immediately darkened.
