Soul Returns to Hong Kong: From Tailor Shop to Richest Woman

Chapter 234 There aren't many that are this ugly, who would steal it?

After Lin Ying was wheeled out of the delivery room, the nurses changed her into a clean hospital gown and adjusted the bed. She was so exhausted that she fell asleep after only a few words while leaning against the pillows.

She slept for a long time. When she woke up, the first thing Lin Ying saw was Wen Xu sitting on a chair by the bed, holding a thick dictionary. Lin Ying asked curiously, "What are you looking at?"

Wen Xu closed the dictionary: "Awake? How are you feeling?"

"I'm okay, just hungry." Lin Ying tried to sit up, supporting herself with her hands. Wen Xu quickly came over to help her adjust the head of the bed and raised the pillows a little higher.

Lin Ying looked around the room: "Where's the child?"

Wen Xu walked to the crib on the other side of the ward, carefully picked up the swaddled baby, and placed it in front of Lin Ying: "Here, sleeping."

Lin Ying looked down and saw the baby wrapped in a light pink blanket, only its tiny face showing. The baby's wrinkled skin was reddish, and its eyes were closed... "Why is it so small?"

Wen Xu: "They're all like this right after they're born."

"And..." Lin Ying stared at her daughter's face for a while, "Why is she so ugly?"

Wen Xu chuckled: "Newborns are all like this. They'll grow out in a few days, and their facial features are already quite good."

Lin Ying looked at him suspiciously: "Are you sure this is our child?"

Wen Xu: "It's confirmed! Your mother watched the whole time, from the delivery room to the nursery, she didn't leave for a single moment. The ankle bracelet and wristband were put on in front of her, it's definitely our child."

He handed the baby over to Lin Ying slightly: "She's already been fed 10 milliliters of formula. The nurse said she's been sleeping ever since. You just need to rest."

Lin Ying reached out and touched her daughter's hand; her fingers were exceptionally slender. "Let her continue sleeping," Lin Ying said, withdrawing her hand.

Wen Xu put the child back in the crib, then sat back down in the chair and picked up the dictionary again: "There's something I want to ask you."

"Um?"

"Have you decided on a name for your daughter?"

Lin Ying leaned against the pillows and thought for a moment: "Hong Kong returned to China this July, so how about calling me Lin Guining?"

Wen Xu neither denied nor nodded: "Tell your family about this name later."

"What's wrong?"

"While you were sleeping, your grandpa and grandma went out to look for someone."

Lin Ying asked, puzzled, "What does that mean?"

"Calculate the name."

"I haven't even made up my mind yet, and they're already going to do it?"

Wen Xu shrugged: "I couldn't stop him."

Lin Ying said helplessly, "My grandfather is always two steps ahead of everyone else in everything he does."

About two hours later, the ward door was pushed open.

Lin Fu walked in front, holding a red slip of paper in his hand, followed by Li Yuzhen and Lin Lanying; all three of them had an expression of "the matter is settled".

"Ah Ying, you're awake!" Lin Lanying first came over to check her complexion. "You look alright. Are you hungry? I brought some soup."

"Wait a moment." Lin Fu handed the red paper to Lin Ying. "The baby's name has been calculated."

On the red paper, a few words and annotations of the Five Elements and Eight Characters were written with a brush.

"Lin Yiyang," Lin Fu read aloud. "The fortune teller said this name is the most suitable, as it supplements water and wood elements, and it matches her birth chart."

Lin Ying looked at the paper: "Grandpa, I just told Wen Xu that I wanted to name him Lin Guining."

Lin Fu shook his head: "Returning to one's parents' home is not good. The character 'Ning' belongs to the fire element in the Five Elements theory, and she already has enough fire in her destiny, so we can't add more."

Li Yuzhen chimed in, "Yes, the fortune teller spent half an hour calculating and checked it three times before he finally made a decision."

Lin Ying looked at Wen Xu.

Wen Xu said nonchalantly, "It's up to you."

Lin Ying glanced at the red paper again, then at her daughter sleeping soundly in the crib; well, she had only mentioned the name Lin Guining casually, it wasn't something she absolutely had to use; her grandfather had gone out of his way to have someone calculate it, that showed his good intentions: "Alright, then let's call her Lin Yiyang."

Lin Fu was satisfied: "Good! Lin Yiyang!"

Lin Lanying asked, "What about a nickname? Have you thought about it?"

Lin Ying said, "Call him Zaozao."

"Zaozao?" Lin Lanying asked, somewhat surprised. "Why is it called Zaozao?"

"I don't like children who procrastinate. I hope that Zaozao will get up early, do things early, and finish them early in the future, instead of putting everything off until the last minute."

Lin Lanying felt the nickname was a bit strange, but since Lin Ying had already decided, she didn't say anything more: "Zaozao... that's fine too, it's easier to say."

------

Three days later, Lin Ying was discharged from the hospital.

When she returned to the Kadoorie Hill villa, the house was even more lively than before she left; Lin Lanying and Zhao Lan took on most of the work of looking after Zaozao, while Wen Xu stayed by Lin Ying's side. However, with two mothers around, he could do less.

Lin Lanying set very clear rules: during the postpartum period, one should not touch cold water, avoid drafts, or look at documents for too long, and eat four meals a day on time.

These past few days, Zaozao has basically just eaten and slept; every time we took her to the hospital for a bath, both sets of grandparents took turns accompanying her; she remembers clearly who took the child out, where they went, and how long it took them to return.

Actually, Lin Ying later felt that such close care was a bit unnecessary; after carefully observing the other newborns in the nursery, she came to a conclusion: there really weren't many as ugly as her daughter! With such a strong recognizable feature, who would steal her?

On the fourth night, Lin Ying sat on the bed changing Zaozao's diaper; she looked down at her daughter's face, which was only slightly better than when she was born.

Lin Ying muttered under her breath, "Clown Girl."

I yawned early on, completely unaware that my own mother was disliking me.

In the following days, Lin Ying privately called Zaozao "Clown Girl"... she would call her that when changing diapers, and when breastfeeding, but her voice was so soft that only she could hear it.

One afternoon, Wen Xu carried Zaozao out of the room and into the living room. Zhao Lan was playing with the child, and Lin Lanying was sitting next to her peeling an orange.

Wen Xu immediately complained, "Mom, do you know what Lin Ying calls Zaozao in private?"

Lin Ying was walking down the stairs when she heard this and knew something was wrong.

Lin Lanying: "What's your name?"

"Clown Girl"

Lin Lanying was the first to react: "What?!"

Lin Ying stood in the middle of the stairs, somewhat bewildered by Wen Xu's betrayal.

Lin Lanying yelled, "Lin Ying! What kind of ridiculous nickname did you give your daughter?"

"I just said it offhand..."

"Just saying that? She's only a few days old! How can you, as her mother, talk about your own child like that?"

Hearing his wife's shout, He Dazhu rushed out to see what was wrong: "What's wrong?"

Lin Lanying was furious: "Your daughter calls your granddaughter 'Clown Girl'!"

"Okay, okay, I won't call anymore," Lin Ying quickly promised.

Lin Lanying snorted, took Zaozao from Zhao Lan's arms, and looked down at her granddaughter's face: "Our Zaozao is so pretty, where is she ugly? Your mother has something wrong with her eyes."
