My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 170 Sister Zhao's Call

Tang Yan's face flushed red instantly, her anger rising, but she couldn't lash out in front of so many people. She could only suppress her anger, grit her teeth, lower her voice, and coldly question Lin Tao, her hostility almost impossible to hide.

Lin Tao frowned slightly as she looked at her jealous expression, thinking to herself: How did Da Zhuang end up with such a jealous girlfriend?

Tang Yan is indeed beautiful and radiant, but she got so angry after just a few casual words from Wang Jing. Her temper is a bit too impulsive.

Although Lin Tao harbored some reservations about Tang Yan, she didn't show it on her face. After all, Tang Yan was Da Zhuang's girlfriend, and it would be perfectly normal for anyone who witnessed such a thing to become suspicious and come to question her.

She suppressed her inner thoughts and calmly explained the whole story clearly, repeatedly emphasizing that she and Dazhuang were completely innocent and that nothing out of the ordinary had happened.

As Tang Yan listened to Lin Tao's explanation, her anger gradually subsided, and her expression softened considerably. However, the thought of the two of them being alone naked in a hotel room for so long still left her feeling awkward and uncomfortable.

But she was afraid that if she kept asking questions, Da Zhuang would think she was petty, so she had to suppress her displeasure and patiently listen to Lin Tao's detailed explanation.

Upon hearing how the two men had worked together to catch the arsonist, Tang Yan was stunned, her face filled with astonishment. She abruptly turned to Da Zhuang, her tone a mixture of confusion and concern: "Da Zhuang, you're just a factory security guard, did you have to risk your life like that?"

I felt a little awkward after her question and gave an embarrassed laugh. Of course, I couldn't tell her about my and Sister Zhao's whole plan, so I could only put on a righteous and indignant air:

"Our job as security guards is to protect the factory and safeguard its property from harm."

After hearing this, Tang Yan couldn't help but roll her eyes at me, her face full of helplessness, but the concern in her eyes was impossible to hide: "It's true that you should be responsible, but you can't risk your life. What will I do if something really happens to you?"

After listening to Tang Yan's instructions, I nodded, turned to look at Lin Tao, and said with a hint of relief, "Isn't Officer Lin here? With her here, what could possibly happen to me? You didn't see how impressive it was when she subdued Zhou Zhengtao, who was holding a gun."

"There are guns too?"

Tang Yan was startled, her gaze fixed on Lin Tao, a mix of emotions welling up inside her. She never expected Lin Tao to be so skilled, able to handle even armed thugs with ease and emerge unscathed.

Remembering how she had just been so jealous and aggressive towards Lin Tao, Tang Yan's face flushed, and she felt a pang of embarrassment. She composed herself and spoke sincerely to Lin Tao:

"Thank you, Officer Lin. Dazhuang would have been in real trouble tonight without you."

"It's alright." Lin Tao waved her hand gently, looked at Tang Yan, and added in a calm tone, "Dazhuang is also very skilled."

I stood to the side watching the two chat, while my phone kept vibrating in my pocket. I took it out and saw it was Sister Zhao calling. I secretly glanced at Tang Yan and saw that she was engrossed in her conversation with Lin Tao, so I tiptoed a little further away, pressed the answer button, and whispered, "Hello, Sister Zhao."

Sister Zhao asked with concern, "Dazhuang, are you alright? The factory security guards reported that the police just arrested the arson suspect at the second factory, and someone was shot and injured at the scene?"

I hadn't expected Sister Zhao to be so well-informed. I was slightly taken aback at first, but then it dawned on me. The entire factory belonged to Sister Zhao, so it was perfectly reasonable for her to be the first to know about such a big incident. I lowered my voice and replied softly, "Sister Zhao, I'm fine, don't worry."

Then I lowered my voice and told the whole story in detail about Zhou Zhengtao's arson attempt that night, his desperate resistance with a gun, Lin Tao and I's joint efforts to arrest the criminals, and how Zhou Zhengtao, as the security captain, secretly betrayed his own company and deliberately destroyed the factory.

Upon hearing that the arsonist was none other than her own security captain, Sister Zhao on the other end of the phone was instantly consumed by rage. Her tone suddenly turned cold and piercing as she angrily shouted:

"What a traitor! He takes my salary and job, and then tries to destroy my factory! Have you found out who ordered him to set the fire?"

"It's Ichiro Kawada and Jingyi Huang."

Upon hearing this, Sister Zhao on the other end of the phone was suddenly taken aback, filled with confusion: "Kawada Ichiro is the second largest shareholder of the factory, and he owns half of the assets of the second factory. Why would he hire someone to set fire to his own property?"

I then relayed to her the entire conversation I had overheard between Kawada Ichiro and Huang Jingyi, in which they plotted to seize the factory's shares, word for word.

After hearing this, Sister Zhao fell silent for a moment, then gasped and murmured, "She's truly ruthless and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals."

After she finished speaking, she sighed heavily, her anger gone, replaced by fear and gratitude. She said to me in a deep voice, "Dazhuang, it's fortunate that you were here today. Otherwise, there would have been a huge disaster at the factory tonight, and the consequences would have been unimaginable."

Hearing Sister Zhao's heartfelt gratitude, I grinned and waved casually, my tone slightly roguish as I teased, "Sister Zhao, with our relationship, do you need to thank me? If you really want to thank me, just put in a little more effort next time, hehe."

On the other end of the phone, Sister Zhao's cheeks instantly flushed and her ears turned red. She spat out a few words of embarrassment and reproach: "What nonsense are you talking about, you little rascal?"

After exchanging a few sweet words, Sister Zhao's playful laughter subsided, her tone turning serious, filled with barely concealed worry. She said earnestly, "Dazhuang, stop being an undercover security guard. Just become the factory manager of Factory Two. My heart is constantly on your mind, going up and down with you every day. I can't take it anymore. I can only feel at ease if you're in charge of Factory Two."

I knew her concerns, but I still shook my head gently and explained firmly, "I can't take over as factory director yet. As a regular security guard, Zhou Zhengtao, Huang Jingyi and their gang will completely lower their guard and not take me seriously. If I take the factory director position, I'll be too conspicuous. They'll be on guard at all times, and we won't be able to find any leverage against them. We also won't be able to take down Zhou Zhengtao tonight."

"That's true." Sister Zhao sighed helplessly, and after thinking for a moment, she suggested, "Right now, the security team has lost six people, and the manpower gap is too big. I think you should be promoted to security captain. I'll give you the authority to recruit new people and personally train your trusted subordinates. Let your subordinates help you share the pressure, and it will be easier for you to carry out your tasks."

"Okay." I nodded immediately, my tone calm. "I'll take over as security captain first, then lie low and observe for a while before taking over as factory manager when the time is right."

"Mmm." Sister Zhao responded on the other end of the phone, her tone suddenly softening, a faint blush rising to her cheeks, her voice soft and ambiguous, "Dazhuang, where are you now? Do you want to come over here?"

"Coming to see you?" I subconsciously glanced at Tang Yan, who was talking to Lin Tao not far away. I thought to myself that I couldn't get away right now, but I deliberately smiled and teased in a roguish tone, "What, Sister Zhao, you missed me?"

"Mmm." Sister Zhao responded shyly, her ears turning completely red. She said in a very low voice, "Didn't you just say that you wanted me to work harder? Come here now, and I'll serve you well. I'll definitely satisfy you."

Sister Zhao's explicit words made my ears burn slightly and my cheeks flush. I couldn't help but chuckle and say, "Sister Zhao, if you go too far, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it."

"Hehe." On the other end of the phone, Sister Zhao chuckled softly, her voice sweet and alluring, urging gently, "Come over quickly, I'll be gentle with you, my little darling~"

Her voice trailed off with a delicate tremor, a sound that sent a shiver down my spine.

To be honest, at this moment I was already restless and my heart was churning with excitement. If Tang Yan hadn't been nearby, I would have dropped everything and rushed to Sister Zhao's side to show her what I was capable of.

My Adam's apple bobbed, and I swallowed hard. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Tang Yan turn to look at me. I quickly raised my hand and waved gently at her, suppressing the agitation in my heart. I softly declined into the phone:

"Sister Zhao, I'm exhausted from catching the criminals all night. I'm planning to get some rest early. I'll come over another day and experience your gentleness properly."

"Okay." Sister Zhao's tone immediately wilted, full of disappointment and dejection, but then she thought of how dangerous it was for me to catch someone and how tired I was from running around tonight, and all she felt in her heart was heartache. She gently told me, "Then you should rest well and recharge your energy. Tomorrow, it will be Sister Zhao's turn to take good care of you."

After saying that, Sister Zhao hung up the phone immediately.

But as soon as she hung up, her heart skipped a beat, and she felt that something was wrong.

She was on the phone with Dazhuang just now, and her mind was completely focused on him, filled with those ambiguous words, without thinking much about anything else. But as she calmed down, the feeling that something was wrong grew stronger.

She carefully recalled the conversation and suddenly realized what had happened.

Dazhuang kept saying he was tired and wanted to sleep, but there was a lot of background noise on the phone, noisy and disruptive, just like the sounds of a night market street, not a quiet place to sleep at all.

Even worse, the sound of a woman speaking could be faintly heard amidst the noise.

Is he lying to himself?
