My Dongguan Love Story

Chapter 213 Lin Tao is injured

Seeing Li Jianzhong turn and run away with a provocative look on his face, I immediately grabbed Lin Tao and quickly chased after him.

This person crossed the road recklessly, completely disregarding oncoming traffic, running without any regard for the consequences. We, however, dared not be so reckless and could only carefully dodge the traffic as we walked slowly. I was quick and rushed to the other side of the road first, but before I could even stand still, I suddenly heard Lin Tao cry out in pain behind me.

I quickly turned around and saw that she had twisted her ankle and fallen to the middle of the road, her face contorted in pain. My heart tightened, and I rushed over to help her up, anxiously asking, "Are you alright? Did you hurt yourself?"

The words had barely left his mouth when a piercing screech of brakes erupted, followed by a barrage of honking horns. The driver leaned out and angrily shouted, "Are you out of your mind sitting in the middle of the road?"

Despite the excruciating pain in her foot, Lin Tao hurriedly urged me in a low voice, "Dazhuang, quickly help me up, so we don't block the road."

I nodded, reached out to support her, and let her lean on my shoulder for support as we slowly moved toward the side of the road. Actually, I could easily have picked her up, but men and women are different after all, and such an intimate gesture was inappropriate. So I could only support her discreetly and keep to my limits.

After finally managing to get her to the side of the road, I turned around and looked again, but Li Jianzhong was nowhere to be seen on the street. In the end, he managed to get away.

Lin Tao looked at the empty street, shook her head helplessly, frowned deeply, and sighed softly, "He still slipped away right under my nose... Sigh, my foot really hurts terribly."

She tried to stand up by supporting herself on my arm, but as soon as she exerted force, a piercing pain surged up in her ankle, and she staggered and was about to fall. I reacted quickly and grabbed her waist, holding her steadily in my arms and catching her just in time.

Lin Tao threw herself into my arms, her nose pressed against my chest. Enveloped by my warm body, her cheeks flushed red. She hurriedly raised her hand to push me away, saying, "Thank you, but I can manage on my own."

She struggled to break free from my embrace, but her right ankle was so swollen that she couldn't put any weight on it. As soon as she let go of my hand, she swayed and fell softly back into my arms.

Her ears turned bright red, and she shyly gripped my arm, slowly pulling herself out of my embrace. She stood on one foot, clinging tightly to me for support, her voice weak and aggrieved: "Da...Dazhuang, my foot hurts so much I can't stand anymore. I definitely won't be able to catch Li Jianzhong today. Could you take me home?"

Seeing her brows furrowed in pain, her face pale, my heart softened. I knew her ankle injury was quite serious, and she couldn't even put weight on it. I asked with concern, "It looks like it's in so much pain, shouldn't we go to the hospital for a checkup?"

Lin Tao met my worried gaze and gently shook her head: "It's okay, no need to go to the hospital. Just go home, apply some liniment, and rest for a couple of days. That's how I always got through sprained ankles."

Seeing her resolute refusal to go to the hospital, I didn't try to persuade her further. I carefully took her arm and slowly helped her cross the road, step by step, to the roadside parking shed. After finding my motorcycle, I turned to her and said softly, "Let me help you onto the bike."

"Mmm." Lin Tao responded softly, her cheeks flushed slightly. She gripped my arm tightly, used her left foot to push off the ground for leverage, and carefully moved her injured right leg onto the seat. But as soon as her right foot touched the pedal, a piercing pain shot through her ankle, and she couldn't help but grimace and gasp.

It was only then that she suddenly realized she was wearing a skirt. In her haste to get into the car, the skirt had ridden up almost to her thighs, revealing large patches of her smooth, tanned skin.

It's no wonder she didn't notice for a moment. She usually wears trousers when handling cases, and she hadn't worn this skirt for almost a month. In her panic, she completely forgot about the trouble the skirt caused.

Her ears turned bright red, and she said to me in a flustered voice, "Dazhuang, it's inconvenient for me to ride a bike in a skirt. Could you help me so I can change my riding position?"

"Ah, okay." I subconsciously looked down and caught a glimpse of her raised skirt and exposed legs. My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly turned my head away, embarrassed, not daring to look any longer. I reached out and steadily supported her waist to help her adjust her posture.

With my help, she awkwardly sat sideways on the back seat, tightly pressing her legs together to protect her skirt.

I whispered a reminder to her, "Hold on tight." I lifted my leg and straddled the motorcycle. As soon as I sat down, the motorcycle swayed slightly, and Lin Tao, who was on the back seat, lost her balance and immediately reached out to grab the frame to steady herself.

I asked for her address, twisted the throttle, and the motorcycle roared off.

I deliberately rode very slowly, but Lin Tao was sitting sideways on the back seat, and she was already quite unstable. With the slightest bump in the bike, her body swayed from side to side.

As the car tilted at the intersection, she lost her balance and instinctively reached out her right hand to hold my waist to steady herself.

Suddenly, I felt a soft, warm hand touch my waist. My heart skipped a beat. I glanced down at her hand around my waist, then turned my head and asked softly, "Are you sitting still? Are you alright?"

Lin Tao then realized she had hugged me, her face flushed red, and she hurriedly withdrew her hand, shaking her head softly, "N-nothing."

I twisted the accelerator and continued driving forward.

I hadn't driven for long when an elderly woman suddenly darted out from the side of the road and ran a red light. My heart skipped a beat, and I immediately slammed on the brakes!

The motorcycle stopped abruptly, the immense inertia pushing me forward. Lin Tao leaned against my back, her right hand tightly gripping my waist in her panic.

Her palm was placed on my waist and abdomen. She could clearly feel my firm and strong waistline. Her body stiffened slightly, and she froze on the spot.

I turned to her and asked, "Are you alright? That person ran a red light and we almost hit them."

Lin Tao's face turned bright red, her heart pounded, and she hurriedly tried to pull her hand back.

I reached out and pressed her hand back onto my waist: "It's not safe on the road. Hold on to me so you don't fall off the bus."

I was simply worried about her safety. It's already dangerous for her to sit sideways; she could easily fall off with the slightest bump. I had no other thoughts on my mind.

"Oh," Lin Tao replied softly, obediently placing her hands on my waist. Her palms were slightly sweaty, and she held my waist gently, feeling both reserved and nervous.

She had never been this close to a man before, much less hugged one like this. The evening breeze brushed against her face, her ears turned bright red, and she felt both embarrassed and ashamed.

She's been a police officer for many years, has a steady personality, and understands that safety is paramount when traveling by car. She almost got thrown off during the sudden braking, and knew that holding on to me was the safest option. But there's a difference between men and women, and this close contact made her feel uncomfortable.

After the old lady crossed the road and I confirmed it was safe to ride on the side of the road, I twisted the throttle again and rode forward smoothly.

A gentle evening breeze blew by, ruffling her hair, and I could smell her faint fragrance. Her arm was soft against my waist, and although I tried to calm myself, my heart was still beating faster than usual.

She held me very lightly, her fingers taut, afraid to get too close. Whenever there was a bump in the road, she would subconsciously tighten her arms and gently press against my back.

I slowed down and rode steadily, heading towards her house.

After riding for forty or fifty minutes, I drove the motorcycle into Lin Tao's residential area. I parked the motorcycle and carefully helped her, who had difficulty moving, walk towards the apartment building.

Her home was on the third floor, not a high floor. I helped her slowly up the stairs. The stairwell was narrow, and her body would occasionally brush against mine unintentionally. Both of our faces would blush slightly, and the atmosphere was a little awkward and subtle.

After finally reaching the third floor, Lin Tao endured the pain in her feet, took out her keys to open the door, and tiptoed in to change her shoes.

I followed her inside, put my shoes in the corner of the entryway, changed into her slippers, and helped her into the living room.

Her living room is very spacious, about 30 to 40 square meters. Even after placing a TV, coffee table and sofa, there is still a lot of empty space.

I scanned the living room but didn't see any liniment. I turned to her and asked, "Officer Lin, where did you put your sprain medicine? I know how to set bones and can help you treat your ankle so it will heal faster."

Lin Tao knew I had this ability, and blushed as she hesitated for a moment: "The medicine is in my bedroom."

I hesitated for a moment, realizing it wasn't appropriate to just wander into a girl's bedroom: "Then come out and get it slowly, I'll apply the medicine for you from outside."

Lin Tao rolled her eyes at me: "Look at me now, can I even walk? Just help me inside, let's treat my injuries first, it'll be fine."

"Okay." I nodded, helped her into the bedroom, and closed the door behind me.

Just as the door to the room closed, the door to the next room suddenly opened, and a middle-aged woman poked her head out and called out, "Tao, you're back?"

Upon hearing the sound, Lin Tao's face turned pale instantly. She nervously leaned close to my ear and whispered, "Oh no, my mom's home!"
