My Dongguan Love Story

I froze on the spot, unsure of what to say, and quickly turned to Lin Tao, hoping she could smooth things over for me.

To everyone's surprise, Lin Tao readily agreed: "Mom, don't worry. When Dazhuang has some free time in a while, I'll have him mention this to the elders in the family."

Lin Tao's father silently finished his cigarette, remaining silent throughout. He watched us for a while, then turned and went back to his room, feeling sullen.

Lin Tao's mother didn't care at all and ignored him. She continued to chat with me enthusiastically, asking all sorts of questions and inquiring about everything that happened to me.

We chatted for so long that it was noon before we knew it. Lin Tao's mother insisted that I stay for lunch, saying it was my first time visiting. I couldn't resist her enthusiasm, so I nodded in agreement.

After lunch was served, Lin Tao's mother took out two bottles of Moutai and said to me with a smile, "Dazhuang, don't be shy. Have a good meal at home today and have some drinks with Taozi's father."

Hearing the sound, Lin Tao's father looked up at me. He was just having a hard time accepting that his daughter suddenly had a boyfriend and that he had found me in his daughter's room early in the morning. So he was a little awkward. He didn't really dislike me. He was willing to sit down and have a drink and chat with me.

As we chatted, he asked me, "Dazhuang, how did you and Taozi meet?"

I was taken aback when I heard this, and after finishing my drink, I recounted how we had investigated the factory arson case together. Of course, I didn't mention what happened at the hotel.

Lin Tao listened to my words, her face flushed, and recalling how we met, she felt that everything was very predestined. The most predestined thing was that just as the two of them had met and developed feelings for each other, Tang Yan left Da Zhuang, making room for her.

She looked at me lying on the bed, fast asleep, and sat down on the edge of the bed with a smile. After hesitating for a moment, she simply lifted her legs and lay down next to me, her eyes full of happiness, quietly watching me sleep peacefully with my eyes closed.

She had been deliberately keeping her distance from me before, mainly because we were just ordinary friends back then. Now that we're in a relationship, she naturally doesn't want to be distant or estranged from me anymore.

Lin Tao lay down next to me, looking at me with tenderness as I slept soundly. She hesitated shyly for a moment, then slowly raised her arm and gently placed it on my waist. Feeling sweet inside, I closed my eyes and fell into a deep sleep.

I slept for a while, and vaguely felt a warm arm against my waist. I slowly opened my eyes, my vision was blurry, and with the alcohol making my head dizzy, I mistook the person next to me for Lin Huimin.

Her mind was in turmoil. Putting aside whether she was willing to give herself to Dazhuang, she was worried about how Dazhuang would see her since she had just started talking to him and had so easily given herself away. She was afraid that he would think she was too casual and not dignified or reserved enough.

Lin Tao's cheeks flushed as she turned to look at Da Zhuang, who was fast asleep beside her. Her heart was filled with mixed emotions. She felt overjoyed to be with her beloved, but also deeply resentful and annoyed that she had given herself away so hastily.

Before we knew it, it was past four in the afternoon. The sunlight streaming in through the window was so bright that it was hard to open our eyes.

I slowly woke up, rubbing my throbbing head. I looked down and saw Lin Tao lying beside me, and I was slightly taken aback. It took me a while to calm down and sort out my chaotic thoughts after drinking. I only remembered drinking with her father at noon, getting exhausted, and then going to bed as soon as I got inside.

After a moment of careful recollection, fragmented images of us snuggling together in bed last night gradually surfaced in my mind. I was suddenly startled and my eyes widened instantly.

My gaze swept over the clothes scattered around the bed, and then I looked down to see that my own clothes were already in disarray. My eyes fell on the sheets, and a faint red stain caught my eye. My heart tightened instantly, and a fine layer of cold sweat broke out on my forehead. I panicked completely.
