Chapter 27: Everything as You Wish
Who is the female owner of the Money Cat Salon? This is something everyone is very curious about.
But to this day, no one has been able to find out the identity of the woman.
Because everyone who tried to find out the identity of the lady of the house was sunk to the bottom of the Thames.
Mrs. Wilde went upstairs with trepidation.
To date, many people have climbed the stairs of the Money Cat Salon, and many of them have subsequently risen to prominence, gaining status and quickly becoming government figures or business tycoons.
But many others disappeared without a trace afterward, or fell into poverty.
Some speculate that the owner of the money cat is the current queen!
Some speculate that the woman who owns the money cat is actually an archbishop of the church!
Otherwise, this situation is simply inexplicable!
As she climbed the stairs, Mrs. Wilde stood before a pristine white doorway.
The male servant gently knocked on the door.
"Please come in."
A very young voice came from behind the door. Mrs. Wilde was slightly taken aback, as this was quite different from the image of the lady of the Money Cat Salon in her mind.
The man opened the door and gestured for Mrs. Wilde to enter.
She walked into the room, which was a small bedroom.
The bedroom wasn't particularly luxurious; it was much more modest than the salon or living room.
On the bedside table sat a bronze incense burner, imported from overseas, containing incense and similar items.
The room was filled with a subtle blend of musk and orris root, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.
Beside the bed is a small window, but it allows the person in the bedroom to keep an eye on what's happening in the living room.
Every move, every word.
All of them were under the supervision of the female homeowner.
"Hello." Mrs. Wilde didn't know how to address the person in front of her.
Because a pale purple curtain separated her from the person behind the bed in the bedroom, Mrs. Wilde could not see who was behind the curtain, only a blurry outline.
"Lady Wilde," a rather young voice came from behind the curtain, "your husband has recently become quite famous, and has even been granted the title of Earl. Congratulations."
Upon hearing this, Lady Wilde's heart immediately settled down. It seemed that he had simply come to congratulate her. "It's nothing. My husband and I just wanted to do something for His Majesty and for this country. Being granted the title of Earl was not our intention, but we are very grateful to His Majesty."
With just a few words, Madame Wilde positioned herself and her husband as loyal subjects.
Regardless of whether the owner of the money cat is a queen or not, there would be no problem with these words.
Behind the curtain, the woman who owned the money cat suddenly changed the subject.
"The Countess's status is indeed quite good, whether she is dealing with young people from poor backgrounds or those with lower titles than herself, she has a very significant effect."
"If you offer a few benefits or exert some coercion, these young people will be devoted to you and become your lovers, while your husband will not care, because to him, his wife is nothing more than an accessory to a political marriage."
"Your marriage is unhappy, so you want to target strangers to fill the loneliness in your heart, is that right?"
Madame Wilde was stunned. Lovers and male favorites were quite normal for noblewomen of a certain status; they just couldn't be discussed openly.
In reality, everyone knows the truth.
But judging from the tone of the woman who owned the golden cat, she seemed somewhat dissatisfied with this.
"I'm sorry," Mrs. Wilder asked cautiously, "I don't quite understand what you mean..."
Snapped--
The sound of a fan being opened interrupted Mrs. Wilde's words.
"Mrs. Wilde, would you be interested in staying at the Galway estate for a while?"
She instinctively took a step back; Mrs. Wilde knew very well what the Galway estate meant.
That's in western Ireland, not to mention the security risks and the threat posed by the Irish.
Being distanced from aristocratic social circles and politically marginalized was a scenario that Madame Wilde absolutely did not want to see!
"I don't quite understand," Mrs. Wilde said hastily. "I haven't done anything particularly outrageous, so why would you say that? My husband is a highly sought-after earl among the nobility, and he's capable of generating a great deal of value for England!"
The figure behind the curtain remained silent for a moment before speaking.
"You have a point. Why don't you bring your husband along? Or do you prefer the Thames's soft riverbed?"
The threat in those words was now palpable, and Mrs. Wilde was starting to lose control. "What have I done to deserve this? Has someone you care about become my lover? I can give you Lance, tonight!"
"Shh, Mrs. Wilde, you're being disrespectful."
The figure behind the curtain spoke softly.
"Although I am not a countess and have no husband, I only need to say something to certain people, and your fate will not be just to live in the Galway estate."
Mrs. Wilde realized what was happening.
I did indeed provoke someone I shouldn't have.
Lee En Wales...
That baron's son, he's the one the lady of the Money Cat has her eye on!
"Good night, Mrs. Wilde." The figure behind the curtain seemed to be chuckling softly.
"If you and your husband can ease tensions between the British and the Irish, there might still be a chance to return to London."
Mrs. Wilde lost all strength and collapsed to the ground.
With vacant eyes, Mrs. Wilde seemed to see the end of her life ahead.
A nobleman who had just been granted the title of earl and was enjoying unparalleled prestige had his entire future ruined by the words of a salon hostess.
Behind her are either royalty or the church.
These are all beings that Mrs. Wilde dares not defy!
Two male servants came in and helped Mrs. Wilde up and out of the bedroom.
A male butler walked in from outside and bowed to the figure behind the curtain.
"Your Highness, I have made arrangements for Sir Wilder and his wife. Is there anything else you require?"
"Get back the necklace from Mrs. Wilde's neck; the opal on it is very important."
The butler nodded slightly and gave an instruction to the male servant behind him.
Not long after, the male servant returned to the bedroom and delivered the message to the male butler.
"I'm sorry, Your Highness," the butler bowed apologetically, "the necklace has been retrieved, but the opal is missing. Madame Wilde claims it was stolen because she had shown it off to her friends while chatting with them."
"Stolen?"
The figure behind the curtain seemed somewhat surprised, but she quickly realized what was happening.
"It's alright, then just ignore it. Throw the necklace away; I know who stole it."
The male butler indicated that he understood.
He gazed at the figure behind the curtain, separated by a barrier.
"Your Highness, if I may presume, may I ask what is so special about that gentleman named Lee En Wales?"
It's not uncommon for high-ranking officials to have their lives decided within the Money Cat Salon, but this is the first time a count's future has been decided by a young man.
The butler could only conclude that, in the eyes of the figure behind the curtain, Li En was a special being.
"Yes."
To the butler's surprise, the figure behind the curtain gave a positive and direct answer.
"Keep a close eye on him. He's incredibly popular with women. Make sure no high-ranking official's wife takes a liking to him and turns him into a male concubine or mistress."
The male butler bowed slightly.
"Everything is as you wish."
"Your Highness Ruby Frederick"
