Magical Cat
Chapter 46 Knowing Shame
"Alright, alright, stop fooling around."
Seeing that they had almost stopped arguing, Melina finally spoke up to stop them.
A relaxed smile appeared on her face.
Having dealt with all the Rift Wanderers in the tavern, her special lesson was considered a complete success.
"You're lucky, you've escaped my punishment."
Elaine and the others couldn't help but show smug smiles, feeling a sense of accomplishment for defeating their teacher.
"I need to reflect on today's experience so that I can retain the knowledge and experience in my mind."
As Melina spoke, she waved to the bar, and the remaining steam began to dissipate quickly, as if it had never existed.
The last bead left behind by the Rift Wanderer was also lifted into Melina's hands by the water flow.
"This one is the spoils of war for all of you. How should we divide it?" Melina asked deliberately.
Everyone else couldn't help but look at Barbara.
Of all the students present, everyone except Barbara already had one of these beads as a prize.
Barbara also stared longingly at the transparent bead, biting her lip, hesitant to speak.
This transparent bead might not be a valuable item for Barbara; her family has plenty of money to buy her more and better magical materials.
But this was, after all, her first trophy, and Barbara wanted one too, to cherish.
"Never mind, teacher." Weber suddenly waved his hand, and Elaine said with disdain, "Look at her, she'll cry if we don't give her one, let's just give her one."
"You!" Barbara blushed instantly at Webber's words, glaring at him as she retorted, "Who wants this broken bead? Do you all think you're as precious as you are?"
"Is that so? Then let's sell it and split the profits. Even a small amount is still money." Webber was deliberately messing with Elaine's mindset, and seeing that she had taken the bait, he teased her even more.
Sojern, standing nearby, corrected him in a low voice: "It's mosquito leg, not fly leg."
Weber glared at him silently, showing no gratitude whatsoever.
"Oh, since Barbara doesn't want it, then let's do as Weber said..." Melina feigned agreement.
"Ah, this..." Barbara was so anxious that she paced back and forth, staring at Weber and looking at the beads, her eyes almost too busy to keep up.
"I do know a shop nearby that buys magical materials and offers fair prices," Melina said, glancing towards the bar entrance as if trying to recall the shop's location.
Watching Barbara frantically trying to stay calm, Sir Blue couldn't help but chuckle and shake his head.
He was standing to the side, and he could easily see that Melina and her classmates were deliberately teasing Barbara.
Barbara's personality is just too awkward; she doesn't know how to communicate well with people.
Sir Blue, having lived a long life, naturally understood Melina's good intentions and therefore did not interfere.
"Barbara really doesn't want it?" Melina asked her one last time to confirm.
Barbara blushed, but finally nodded.
"Oh, you really don't want it?" Melina said deliberately, trying to force Barbara to speak.
"Yes, I want it..."
Barbara blushed and spoke in a barely audible voice, which everyone had to strain to hear.
Upon hearing this, Melina still smiled, but she also breathed a sigh of relief.
This teacher's popularity isn't easy; she's almost exhausted.
"Since Barbara wants it, we should ask the others for their opinions, after all, this is the spoils you all got together," Melina stated her request.
Barbara wasn't stupid; she already understood Melina's intentions, otherwise she wouldn't have gotten second place last semester.
She looked up and saw that all four of them were staring at her.
Barbara glared at Weber first, then regained some of her composure: "You already agreed, I didn't need to ask you!"
Weber laughed and didn't seem to mind, finding Barbara's coy behavior amusing.
Seeing Barbara looking at him, Sojourn quickly said, "You know, I've always been a gentleman, so you can have this bead."
Then Elaine and Safina are left.
Safina adjusted her glasses and said calmly, "Although your performance was terrible before, at least it wasn't completely awful, and you ultimately played a role, so I agree."
Although Safina's words were infuriating, Barbara could only put up with them, since Safina wanted the bead.
In the end, Elaine didn't say a word, but just smiled and nodded at Barbara.
Li En watched this scene with a mixture of helplessness and relief.
He felt helpless because he thought Elaine was too kind. Previously, Webber and Barbara had treated her badly, but Elaine hadn't taken it to heart. If this continued, she might suffer in the future.
But on the other hand, this also made him feel gratified.
Kindness is a skill.
Weakness is a flaw.
Li En was confident that, with his support, Elaine's kindness would remain sharp and would not be underestimated by anyone.
He silently watched Webber and Barbara, knowing that if they dared to cause Elaine any more trouble in the future, they would make them pay a heavy price.
Barbara looked at Elaine's smile, and her initial embarrassment and anger quickly subsided.
She had thought Elaine would be the one who made things the hardest for her, but the other person...
Barbara suddenly felt another kind of shame welling up inside her, and felt incredibly small.
After receiving the consent of the four, Barbara suddenly took a step back, bowed deeply with a solemn expression, and bent her body low.
"Barbara Winder sincerely apologizes for my reckless and incompetent behavior, and for my harsh and rude attitude..."
Because of my narrow-minded and blind jealousy.
After saying her last sentence, Barbara straightened up and looked at Elaine and Safina.
She had always kept her jealousy of the two men to herself, but today she admitted it in public and apologized for it.
At this moment, Barbara felt less uncomfortable than before, and instead, a sense of confidence sprouted from within her.
Sir Blue looked on with satisfaction at the sight.
Melina held the transparent bead up to Barbara and sincerely praised her, "Barbara, you did very well in this class too."
"Thank you, teacher!"
Barbara took the transparent bead with both hands and understood Melina's deeper intention.
At first, she thought Melina didn't like her and preferred Elaine and Safina.
Elaine, in particular, drove Barbara to the brink of madness with jealousy.
But at that moment, Barbara realized that Melina had also invested her efforts in her, wanting to guide her to become a better student.
When Barbara understood Melina's good intentions, she was even more determined not to let down her teachings and expectations.
Melina was pleased to see that Barbara had changed.
She turned to Sir Blue and said, "This matter is now resolved. Sir Blue, I will take the students and leave."
"Very good, very good. Thank you so much, Teacher Melina and the young magicians, for today." Sir Blue smiled broadly, clearly very satisfied.
"Teacher, I have to stay and make up for the damage here," Barbara offered.
Weber let out a wail, clearly intending to bluff his way through.
"Alright, that concludes today's special lecture. Those who wish to return to the academy, please come with me in the carriage."
Melina looked at the five students and was very satisfied with today's special lesson.
