Magical Cat
Chapter 49 Negotiation
Melina looked at Li En with a smile, as if she had expected him to come.
Li En strode through the window with his short legs and asked bluntly, "You're also a member of the Tongxin Society, right? My contract with Elaine came from your church."
Li En spoke the second half of his sentence with great certainty.
"Li En, you are such a wonderful little kitten."
Melina remained noncommittal, only marveling at Lee's amazing abilities.
"How are you feeling today? Are you interested in the Tongxin Association?" Melina asked.
Luna also wrapped her arms around Melina's neck, staring curiously at Li En, wanting to see how he would answer.
"I'm curious, did you sign the same contract with Luna? Did you willingly allow yourself to be controlled by your magical beast?" Li En looked at Melina and Luna.
Luna usually hides under Melina's clothes and rarely shows herself.
But if they all have the same contract, Li En thinks Luna should also have the ability to control Melina.
Luna flicked her tongue, her magnetic voice echoing in Li En's mind: "The Dragon Lord's contract is indeed miraculous, but the kind of thing you described is not something everyone can do; it requires a long time to build up tacit understanding."
Li En frowned.
He remembered that after he made a contract with Elaine, he would be able to control Elaine's actions.
The ability that came with the contract didn't seem quite right.
Melina seemed to see through Li En's thoughts and continued, "That's why I said you are amazing. Perhaps you are the most suitable envoy for the Dragon Lord."
Li En rolled her eyes.
"Stop talking nonsense and tell me, what are the benefits of joining you?"
He prefers things that are more practical.
"Actually speaking, you and Elaine were definitely members of the Tongxin Society from the moment you signed the contract," Melina corrected.
"Then why do you still need to evaluate us? Are you going to eliminate us if you think we're not qualified?" Li En asked bluntly.
Melina took them to the church of the Unity Society to see Father Sam today, certainly not to chat.
Melina simply smiled and did not answer.
But that's already an answer.
Li En pursed her lips, feeling helpless.
People have to bow their heads under the roof.
He and Elaine were just minor figures in the academy; Melina alone was enough to control them.
Now that Melina, or rather the Tongxin Society, has something to ask of them, they are still being polite and courteous.
If things don't go their way, there are plenty of ways to make them comply.
Li En just wants to figure out the Tongxin Society's purpose now, and obey them as much as possible so that he can have more time to develop.
Both he and Elaine are quite talented, and given enough time to develop, they may well be able to control their own destiny in the future.
"Now that Elaine and I are already members of the Unity Society, why don't you tell us what we need to do next?"
Li En's cooperative attitude surprised Melina once again, prompting her to ask, "Li En, does knowledge always seem to surface in your mind on its own? Otherwise, how could a newborn magical beast be so intelligent?"
"Maybe so, I can't really say for sure." Li En deliberately spoke ambiguously, leaving Melina to guess for herself.
Melina smiled and didn't dwell on the matter further. Instead, she told him, "Right now, you and Elaine don't need to do anything. You just need to grow and improve. Only when you are good enough can you contribute your strength to the cause of the Dragon Lord."
Li En snorted coldly, ultimately showing that he still didn't trust him and Elaine.
"You want to overthrow the existing order, don't you? Then I suggest you change your blatant beliefs."
Lee's persuasion made Melina smile even more.
"Don't worry, that's the version you're talking about. For the general public, there's a version that's more acceptable to them."
Seeing that he couldn't get anything useful out of Melina, Lee En decided to turn around and leave.
"Now that we're all on the same side, I hope you'll take good care of me in the future," Li En said as he took his leave.
"Remember to study the notes I gave you carefully," Melina instructed.
At this point, Li En suddenly stopped, flicked his tail, and a splinter about the length of a finger appeared on Melina's desk.
Upon seeing this, Melina's smile froze.
"By the way, my magic power is increasing too slowly. Besides Elaine helping me replenish my magic, is there any other way?"
Seeing Melina's reaction, Li En knew that his move had backfired.
Although the passive ability of Magic Perception was constantly increasing his maximum magic power, the speed was far from satisfactory for Li En.
"You can already cast spells?" Melina asked seriously after a long pause.
"It's exactly as written in your notebook, but I don't have enough magic right now, so the number of wooden spikes I can create is only this small."
Li En wagged his tail and spun around in place.
"My growth rate has been limited. I wonder if the Tongxin Association would be willing to help me, a member with potential?"
"We don't call ourselves members, we call ourselves believers," Melina corrected.
"No problem, no problem. As long as you help me solve this problem, I will be the most devout believer. The Tongxin Society and the Dragon Lord will be my lifelong followers."
Li Enke is the most pragmatic nation.
He'll trust you as long as you can help him.
Melina naturally sensed the teasing in Li En's words, but she still agreed: "I'll help you. Go back and wait for my news."
"Hopefully it's good news, Ms. Melina."
Li En turned around, wagged his tail, and then jumped out of the window and disappeared.
After watching Li En leave, Melina bit her lip, her eyes gleaming.
"He must have a bloodline inheritance, Melina, report this to the church immediately!" Luna urged.
"I understand, but we have to wait until tonight. Going twice during the day would be too conspicuous," Melina replied.
"Did you see the speed of that spellcasting? It's almost instantaneous. This affinity is too unusual. Wood attribute, cat form..." Luna muttered to herself, lost in thought.
As night fell, Melina quietly slipped out of the Royal Magic Academy and returned to the Church of the Unity.
Sam was already asleep in the room when he suddenly opened his eyes, rolled over, and jumped out of bed, a magic wand in his hand.
But when he saw that the person was Melina, he immediately put his wand behind his back and knelt down on one knee to pay his respects.
"Your Excellency, is there anything else you require?"
At the same time, a crow flapped its wings and landed on Father Sam's shoulder, also lowering its head.
Melina didn't speak, but the demonic thoughts lingered in Godfather Sam's mind.
"Report it to the authorities, saying that I have found a suspected apostle. Arrange for someone to come and verify it as soon as possible, and prepare the necessary resources."
Upon hearing this, Father Sam was struck dumb, speechless with astonishment.
When he looked up again, Melina had already disappeared.
While Sam was still in a daze, the crow on his shoulder cawed, startling him awake.
"Gaga (Execute immediately)!"
Urged on by the crows, Father Sam rushed out of the church without even bothering to get dressed properly.
