It was past noon when the car drove into the Yun family villa.

The shadows of the trees in the courtyard were shortened by the sunlight, and the stone steps at the entrance were bleached white by the sun.

Yun Ziang got out of the car first, and then Yun Mingyi drove the wheelchair down from the car. As usual, Xiao Jin snuggled in his arms, curled up into a small ball, and was still clutching the fox-shaped bag in her hand.

Yun Mingyi maneuvered his wheelchair, slowly moving forward along the bluestone path in the courtyard.

Xiao Jin was half-closing her eyes, feeling drowsy from the afternoon sun, when suddenly she felt a darkness in front of her.

She exclaimed "Huh?" and muttered, "Is it dark yet? Xiao Jin hasn't had lunch."

As she spoke, she raised her head, and then her eyes widened even further.

It wasn't dark.

An extremely tall figure stood behind them, completely blocking out the sunlight. The long shadow fell down, covering Yun Mingyi and Xiao Jin, who was lazily sitting in her wheelchair.

Xiao Jin sat up abruptly and blurted out, "Oh no, a bear!"

Yun Zi'ang was also taken aback, subconsciously taking half a step back. He glanced at the person behind the figure, paused for two seconds, and stammered, "Dad, you're back too?"

"Who...who is this?"

Xiao Jin squinted and looked at it carefully.

The person took another half step forward, bent down slightly, and their features gradually became clearer in the backlight.

With blond hair and blue eyes, a sharp profile, and graying temples, he possessed an extremely handsome face, like someone from a movie.

Xiao Jin covered her mouth in surprise and whispered, "They're foreigners!"

She added, "Just like the foreign uncle who went up the mountain to find his master, he has blue eyes!"

Yun Mingyuan stepped forward from behind Ou En, glanced at Yun Mingyi first, and said, "Mingyi, why is your face so pale? Did you just get back?"

Yun Mingyi subtly tucked his hand into his sleeve, concealing half of his wrist inside his shirt cuff, his tone calm:

"Just got back, a little tired, but it's nothing."

He nodded slightly to Owen.

Yun Mingyuan's gaze lingered on his face for a moment, but he didn't press the matter further.

He turned slightly to the side and said to Yun Mingyi and Yun Ziang, "This is Ou En, an old friend of mine."

He then turned to Owen and said in Italian, "Owen, this is Yun Mingyi, my younger brother. This is my son, Yun Zi'ang. This..."

He looked down at Xiao Jin, hesitated for a moment, and a rare hint of unease appeared on his face.

Xiao Jin had already stood up on her own, looked up, and met Owen's bright blue eyes, saying in a clear voice:

"My name is Xiaojin! You're so tall, like a big bear! And a foreigner who looks like a bear!"

Owen looked down at her and suddenly smiled.

He laughed in a low, resonant voice, his chest throbbing, and turned to Yun Mingyuan in slightly accented Chinese:

"This little angel looks just like the statue we saw in Sicily."

"Is she your granddaughter?"

Yun Mingyuan paused for a second before saying, "...She's my aunt."

Owen raised an eyebrow, as if he hadn't understood for a moment, and then confirmed with Yun Mingyuan again in Italian.

A moment later, he threw his head back and burst into laughter, his shoulders shaking with mirth, saying between laughs, "Is this child your elder?"

He bent down, extended his hand to Xiao Jin, who was sitting in a wheelchair, and gave a very standard gentlemanly bow, saying in broken Chinese, "Hello, Chinese aunt."

Xiao Jin found the way he called her amusing and giggled. She then mimicked Owen by reaching out her hand and hooking her fingers in mid-air, only managing to touch the very tip of his fingertip.

Yun Mingyuan sighed helplessly and said to Ou En, "This is China's seniority culture, stop laughing."

As he spoke, he shot Yun Ziang a sharp look, "Stop laughing."

Yun Zi'ang, who was standing to the side, was so suppressing his laughter that his shoulders were shaking. When he saw Yun Mingyuan looking over, he quickly straightened up and said, "I'm not laughing. This is just a normal expression when I see an international friend."

Yun Mingyuan glared at him and gestured towards the door with his chin: "Alright, stop standing outside, come in and talk."

As soon as everyone entered the living room, a surprised voice came from the other end of the hallway: "Miss Xiao Jin? Miss Xiao Jin is back?"

Uncle Chen came out from around the corner, carrying a stack of freshly dried Xuan paper. When he saw Xiao Jin, his face lit up with a big smile.

Xiao Jin slid off her wheelchair, ran over, and looked up to call out, "Hello, Uncle Chen! Xiao Jin's back!"

Uncle Chen responded repeatedly, his eyes crinkling with laughter:

"It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back. The old man has been talking about you every day these past few days, he can't even concentrate on practicing calligraphy, he's gone through several reams of paper."

Xiao Jin asked, "Where's Zheng Bang? I want to go play with him!"

"The old man is writing in his study." Uncle Chen pointed towards the end of the corridor. "Miss Jin, go ahead by yourself. He'll be happier to see you than to eat anything else."

Xiao Jin responded and turned to run towards the study. Her fox-shaped bag bounced with her steps, making her look like a little fox darting into the room.

Yun Zi'ang called out from behind, "Little Miss, slow down! Don't fall!"

Before the words were even finished, the person had already run off, leaving only the tip of their tail.

Yun Mingyuan shook his head and gestured for Ou En to sit down.

Uncle Chen serves tea to the guests.

Yun Mingyi sat in his wheelchair, his back ramrod straight.

He looked up, his gaze first falling on the family ring on Owen's right middle finger, the ring face engraved with an intricate family crest, gleaming coldly under the living room ceiling light.

With just one glance, he nodded slightly and spoke in fluent and steady Italian: "Mr. Owen, I've often heard my elder brother mention you. It's great to finally meet you today. Welcome to China."

Owen sat down opposite him, elbows resting on the sofa armrests, like a lion crouching on the edge of its territory, his smile calm and profound:

"Mingyi, I've heard your name back in Italy. It's great to meet you."

As he spoke, his azure eyes remained fixed on Yun Mingyi, with a measured and scrutinizing gaze.

Yun Mingyi's expression remained unchanged: "I've heard about Fura's situation. We'll do our best to take care of her here."

Owen picked up the glass, but didn't drink it. He just swirled the rim around and chuckled, "Fura is a bit willful and has a terrible eye for people. In that respect, she's like her mother."

"I've come here to take her back."

As he spoke, his gaze inadvertently swept over Yun Mingyi's hand resting on the armrest, and he paused for a moment. "You look like you should get some rest. Yuan is right, you look terrible."

Yun Mingyi said calmly, "It's nothing. People in our line of work rarely have a pleasant expression."

He paused slightly, then added, "Mr. Owen has come from afar. Please allow my elder brother to keep you company for a while. I'll go upstairs to change my clothes. Excuse me."

Owen didn't press the matter, but simply raised his teacup towards him and said something in Italian.

Yun Mingyi understood; it was an old-fashioned Neapolitan saying—may your enemy always be more weary than you.

He smiled slightly, nodded at him, and then maneuvered his wheelchair toward the elevator.

Yun Zi'ang hadn't gotten a chance to speak until Yun Mingyi had walked away. Then he whispered to Yun Mingyuan, "Dad, what did that old man mean by his last sentence?"

Yun Mingyuan glanced at him and said, "It's just to save your uncle some effort, so he doesn't get too tired."

Yun Zi'ang said "Oh," then secretly glanced at Owen and whispered, "Could this be the mafia boss?"

Yun Mingyuan didn't respond to that, but simply said, "You've been talking too much today. Go tell your grandfather that I brought a friend home."

"I haven't even said ten words, and you're already complaining that I talk too much," Yun Ziang said, pouting as he reluctantly left.

He wanted to talk to the black man a few more times and ask him for advice.

-

The study was dimly lit, and Yun Zhengbang was standing in front of his desk writing.

Hearing the door being pushed open, he looked up and saw a small head peeking in, with a pair of fox ears perched on its two little tufts of hair.

His hand holding the brush trembled slightly, and a drop of thick ink fell onto the rice paper, spreading into a small dot.

He smiled, put down his pen, and waved to Xiao Jin:

"Xiao Jin is back? Who dressed you up? You look so beautiful!"

Xiao Jin ran over, tiptoed onto the chair next to him, and looked up at him, saying, "The little fox picked it out for me! The dress has little flowers, the bag has foxes, and it even has ears. The little fox said it matches me perfectly."

As she spoke, she rummaged through her fox-patterned bag for a while, finally pulling out two shiny fruit candies. She carefully placed one into Yun Zhengbang's palm and put the other back in her pocket, saying, "Xiao Jin brought Zhengbang something yummy!"

Yun Zhengbang held the candy in his palm as if it were something rare, his eyes and brows full of smiles: "The candy Xiao Jin gave me is more effective than any medicine."

Xiao Jin tilted her head and looked at him for a while, then suddenly said seriously:

"Zhengbang, you look much better than when Xiaojin first arrived."

She extended a little finger and lightly touched the space between Yun Zhengbang's eyebrows. "Last time Xiao Jin looked at you here, your forehead was gray, like the sky before a rainstorm, covered with a layer of fog. Now it's brightened up, like the sun just rising, with a little bit of light showing through."

She then touched the area under his eyes: "The gloom here has dissipated. Master said that the area under the eyes reveals whether a person has energy or not."

"Zheng Bang's area used to be a bit sunken and dark in color, but now it's swollen up a bit and pink, which means he's sleeping well at night and isn't feeling so tired."

Xiao Jin tilted her head back to look at his hair: "Your temples used to have a few gray, lifeless strands of hair, but now new black hairs are sprouting up next to them. Xiao Jin saw it!"

As she spoke, she stood up, tiptoed closer, as if trying to count the few new hairs.

Yun Zhengbang was amused by her appearance and let her gesture in front of his face.

Xiao Jin stepped back and held Yun Zhengbang's right hand in her small hands, feeling whether his palm was still as cold as before.

She pressed it and nodded in satisfaction.

"Your hands are warm now. When Xiaojin first held Zhengbang's hands, they felt chilly, like they were in well water. Now they're warm, like freshly roasted chestnuts."

She released her grip, sat back in her chair, dangling her short legs, and smiled as she concluded, "Your forehead is glowing, your breathing is smooth, and your hands are warm again. Zheng Bang, you're really feeling much better! Xiao Jin is so happy!"

As Yun Zhengbang listened, he felt a warm sensation spreading through his heart.

He raised his hand and touched Xiao Jin's head, concealing the warmth in his eyes: "That's all thanks to Xiao Jin."

"Since Xiaojin moved in, I feel like this room has come alive again. My legs don't ache anymore, my back doesn't hurt, and even my wrists feel stronger when I write."

Xiao Jin covered her face shyly, then peeked out from between her fingers with two bright, sparkling eyes, her lips curving into a wide smile.

"Xiao Jin didn't do anything wrong. Zheng Bang just listened to me, rested properly, and ate well, which is why he became healthy again!"

Upon hearing this, Yun Zhengbang's smile deepened: "My boss also prepared a gift for Xiao Jin."

He opened the drawer beside him, revealing a brown paper document bag and an exquisite chocolate box.

Xiao Jin's eyes lit up as she looked at it: "Zheng Bang, is that a gift for Xiao Jin? Xiao Jin loves it!"

Yun Zhengbang followed her gaze, couldn't help but laugh twice, took out the chocolate box, and placed it in front of Xiao Jin.

Xiao Jin hugged him tightly, like he was hugging his favorite toy, her little tiger teeth showing as she smiled: "Thank you, Zheng Bang! Xiao Jin likes Zheng Bang the most!"

Yun Zhengbang then took out the brown paper document bag, pushed it in front of her, and said, "This is yours too."

Xiao Jin looked up: "What is it?"

"A small manor. When Xiaojin has holidays, she can go there to play, plant flowers, raise rabbits, and so on," Yun Zhengbang said casually.

You wouldn't guess at all that this is a luxury estate worth 100 million.

Xiao Jin blinked, looked down at the file folder, then looked up at him, and suddenly asked, "Is Zheng Bang coming along too?"

Yun Zhengbang smiled: "Go, go with Xiao Jin."
