Chapter 35 Time to Take Your Medicine!
On the other side, Yun Mingyi and Yun Ziqian were busy at the company until late at night, and they only ate a few bites for dinner.
"This is the progress of all the projects in the company recently," Yun Ziqian said, looking up at Yun Mingyi after reporting the last item.
His brows and eyes betrayed his exhaustion, yet his gaze was frighteningly bright.
Looking at his uncle sitting at the desk, Yun Ziqian felt a sense of peace he had never felt before.
"it is good."
Yun Mingyi tapped the document twice with his fingertips, his gaze sweeping over the project summary table on the last page. He frowned slightly and said, "At 2 PM the day after tomorrow, convene a mid-level meeting with all department directors to go through all the projects under construction and those to be built one by one. For projects with unclear responsibilities or lagging progress, determine rectification plans on the spot."
"In addition, the preliminary preparation team for the lakeside plot in the east of the city should be set up as soon as possible, and three preliminary positioning plans should be finalized first."
He spoke slowly, but his words were clear and logical.
Yun Ziqian quickly nodded and wrote it down in his memo.
"And Yu Ziping," Yun Mingyi raised his eyes, his gaze falling on the file about Yu Ziping beside him, "Take some men and go find him."
After Yun Mingyi finished speaking, he closed the folder and pressed his fingertip to his brow.
"Okay, Uncle. Yu Ziping has already sent people to look for him, but he's not in Beijing. It seems he went back to his hometown," Yun Ziqian replied.
It was already completely dark outside the window, and only a few offices in the office building still had their lights on.
Just then, Yun Ziqian's phone vibrated. He picked it up, glanced at it, and looked up, saying, "Uncle, Grandpa sent a message asking what time we're going back."
"It's almost ten o'clock now. You just got back today. Why don't you go back and rest first? You can deal with the rest tomorrow."
Yun Mingyi was silent for two seconds, glanced at the half-stack of documents on the table that he hadn't finished reading, and finally nodded: "Let's go."
He really should go back and take a look.
When the car returned to the Yun family villa, only the corridor lights were still on in the courtyard, and it was quiet.
A small light was left on in the living room; everyone else had already gone back to their rooms to rest.
"Uncle, shall I ask Uncle Chen to heat up some soup for you?" Yun Ziqian pushed the wheelchair toward the stairwell. "Aunt Zhang made morel mushroom soup this afternoon to nourish your body. You must be tired from your journey."
"No need," Yun Mingyi declined calmly. "I'm going to the study to look at some documents. You should get some rest."
"That won't do," Yun Ziqian disagreed. "You only ate a couple of bites for dinner. If you keep going like this, your body won't be able to take it. Just drink a bowl, it'll be quick."
He knew his uncle's temper; he seemed gentle but was actually stubborn. But his body was his own, and his leg injury hadn't healed yet, so how could he endure this?
Yun Mingyi paused for a moment, then didn't insist and gave a soft "hmm".
"Then you can leave it in my study. I'm going back to my room to change my clothes."
"Okay," Yun Ziqian breathed a sigh of relief and quickly went to the kitchen to get Uncle Chen to heat up the soup.
A moment later, Yun Mingyi changed into comfortable home clothes and arrived at the study door in his electric wheelchair.
The door wasn't closed properly, so he gently pushed it open, his gaze falling on the desk, and his expression instantly darkened.
On the carpet next to the desk, a tiny child, barely the size of a bean, stood on tiptoe, holding a soup bowl in his chubby little hands, tilting his head back and gulping it down with gusto.
Hearing the door open, the child abruptly put down his bowl, looked up, and stared at the door with round, bright eyes, like a little mouse caught stealing food.
The air fell silent for a few seconds.
Yun Mingyi frowned, his tone turning colder: "Who let you in?"
He disliked people entering his study without permission, especially a child who barged in without saying hello.
Xiao Jin put down the soup bowl, wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, smiled a little shyly, revealing two small tiger teeth: "The soup is all cold, it's not good to drink when it's cold. Xiao Jin will drink a little bit for you."
She shook the half-eaten bowl of soup in her hand, and said matter-of-factly, "Let Uncle Chen heat it up later, then you can drink it hot!"
Yun Mingyi didn't reply, but slowly steered his wheelchair into the study. His gaze swept over the soup-stained hem of her clothes, then fell on the mostly empty soup bowl. His tone was cold:
"I don't want to drink. Get out."
He didn't have much of an appetite to begin with, and Yun Ziqian had insisted that he drink the soup. It was better that it was cold so he wouldn't have to eat it.
"No, that won't do," Xiao Jin shook her head, put the soup bowl on the table, and then reached into her small cloth bag. "Xiao Jin has other delicious things for you!"
She rummaged around for a while and finally pulled out a small white porcelain bottle, about the size of her palm, with the stopper tightly sealed.
She held up the porcelain bottle and shook it; a soft clinking sound of pills came from inside. Her eyes sparkled: "These are sweet pills!!"
"Take one pill a day!"
Yun Mingyi's gaze fell on the white porcelain bottle, then he looked up and examined Xiao Jin in front of him.
Xiao Jin stood in front of the desk, not even as tall as the desk itself, her small face tilted up, looking very serious, not afraid of his cold expression at all.
Yun Mingyi stared at her in silence for a long time, his eyes deep and unreadable.
Xiao Jin stared blankly at Yun Mingyi's gaze, then suddenly realized what was happening. She put away the medicine bottle in her hand, and then, as if facing a formidable enemy, pulled out a tissue and nervously looked at Yun Mingyi.
Yun Mingyi frowned slightly as he watched Xiao Jin's actions. "If you need to use the restroom, go to the bathroom, not here."
The tone was as if he were scolding some inhuman kitten or puppy.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jin immediately shook her head. "Xiao Jin doesn't want to go to the toilet!"
Yun Mingyi looked puzzled: "Then what are you trying to do?"
Clutching a tissue tightly in his hand, his face tense and pale, he clearly needed to use the restroom.
"Xiao Jin is getting ready to wipe your tears." She looked at Yun Mingyi, her tone unusually serious.
Yun Mingyi paused for a moment, then said, "I didn't shed any tears."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jin opened her eyes wide and looked at Yun Mingyi carefully, then hurriedly pulled out other tissues from her small pocket:
"Xiao Jin has prepared lots of tissues. You can cry, Xiao Jin will wipe your tears for you!"
As she spoke, she tried to appear reliable.
Yun Mingyi's lips moved twice, his tone growing colder and harder, "I don't want to cry at all."
Xiao Jin clutched the tissue helplessly in her small hands, stammering, "But you're very sad..."
His eyes, his body, his heart, even the smell he exuded, all clearly showed that he was heartbroken.
She saw and felt it all!
But why would this little nephew lie...?
"I'm not sad anymore," Yun Mingyi said calmly, looking at Xiao Jin with a blank expression.
Xiao Jin stared at Yun Mingyi and suddenly sighed heavily, "Sigh!"
She put her two little hands behind her back, like a little adult, shook her head, and, imitating her master, said earnestly:
"You adults are really strange."
Yun Mingyi looked at this scene and seemed to find it somewhat amusing, a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth.
Xiao Jin paced back and forth, sighing, "Clearly heartbroken, yet pretending to be strong and lying to others."
She looked at Yun Mingyi with accusatory eyes.
This little nephew is like that, and so was the guy in sunglasses in the elevator today.
Adults are so strange!
A flicker of emotion crossed Yun Mingyi's eyes, a half-smile playing on his lips. "Lying is an essential part of becoming an adult."
He leaned forward slightly and said in the same tone, "Kids these days are so strange; they're clearly just kids but they love to act like adults."
"I'm not pretending to be an adult," Xiao Jin said, raising her chin defiantly. "According to you, Xiao Jin is already an adult."
"Xiao Jin just lied; that soup was nice and refreshing even when it was cold!"
After she finished speaking, she realized she had let something slip, so she quickly covered her mouth, leaving only her bright eyes peeking out as she guiltily observed Yun Mingyi's reaction.
Yun Mingyi simply chuckled softly.
He maneuvered his wheelchair toward the desk. "Little one, go to sleep now."
"Staying up late won't make you grow taller."
Xiao Jin followed Yun Mingyi's wheelchair excitedly, "Then you have to take Xiao Jin's medicine."
"Xiao Jin's medicine tastes especially good, it's so sweet!"
"Medicine?" Yun Mingyi stopped his wheelchair, turned slightly, and looked at Xiao Jin behind him. "Why are you giving me medicine?"
"Because only if you are well can the Yun family get rich. With money, Zheng Bang will continue to cook delicious food for me!" Xiao Jin said, laughing with her eyes crinkling, looking as cute as a cartoon character in a magazine.
She enthusiastically recommended it, saying, "This medicine tastes really good, you should try it."
"This was made by my master."
"Your master?" Yun Mingyi seized on the key point. "Who is your master?"
Xiao Jin recalled her master's full name and said, word by word, "Yun, Zheng, Lu".
Yun Mingyi's expression changed slightly. "It's my uncle."
After Yun Ziqian sent him the message, he sent someone to investigate Xiao Jin.
But they couldn't find anything, as if the child had fallen from the sky.
Now that Yun Mingyi knew Xiao Jin's background, his attitude softened somewhat. "You said someone wanted to harm the Yun family. Do you know who it is?"
Xiao Jin hesitated, "There are too many. I don't know which one you're referring to."
"However," she looked at Yun Mingyi in surprise, "you believe Xiao Jin's words?"
When she arrived at the Yun family, they didn't believe Xiao Jin's words, which made her very angry.
But her nephew believed her on their second meeting.
Yun Mingyi nodded. "Didn't you actually dig up something buried under our house?"
"Then you prove that what you said is true, why should I not believe it?"
Xiao Jin's heart swelled with joy, and she smiled broadly, saying, "Yes, yes, what Xiao Jin said is true!"
This little nephew is smarter than her older nephew and niece!
"But you ignored Xiaojin this morning!" she accused.
"I didn't have time to deal with you back then," Yun Mingyi casually explained.
It's one thing for him to believe something, but it's quite another to present it to the public as evidence.
Xiao Jin snorted twice in dissatisfaction, then placed the porcelain bottle in her hand on Yun Mingyi's desk. "This is a gift from my master to you."
"Make sure you take one pill a day. Xiao Jin will be watching to make sure you take it!"
Yun Mingyi stared at the porcelain bottle containing unregistered medicine, remained silent for a few seconds, and then accepted it, "Okay, I understand."
"My little nephew, you're such a good boy," Xiao Jin praised him with great satisfaction.
Hearing this, Yun Mingyi's eyebrows twitched. He closed his eyes, unwilling to face this scene, and urged, "Go to sleep quickly."
