Shaoxing City, formerly known as Kuaiji, is located in the north-central part of Zhejiang Province. It borders Ningbo to the east, Taizhou and Jinhua to the south, Hangzhou to the west, and is separated from Jiaxing by the Qiantang River to the north.

Keqiao District, also known as Golden Keqiao, is located on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay and is home to China Textile City, one of the world's most important textile distribution centers.

The most famous product here is curtain fabric; it can be said that 90% of the curtains in China are produced here.

This has led to Keqiao's exceptional wealth, with even the rural population earning significantly more than many cities.

Chen Yiran came here to see Xu Li.

It's very close from Hangzhou. As soon as I got off the highway, I saw Xu Li, dressed like an old cadre, waiting by the roadside.

Upon seeing the person, Chen Yiran got directly into Xu Li's car and had his bodyguard follow behind.

Xu Li said with a touch of emotion, "You're really something now, you even need so many bodyguards to come and go."

"Normally, this many people wouldn't need to come from China, but since we paid for it, we can't let them get something for nothing. Is your car a US-spec?"

"Yes, I've gone back to China. I handed over the parallel import car business to one of my junior classmates, Liu Xiao. You don't know him, he arrived two months after you left, and we got along quite well."

Chen Yiran calculated the time and asked, "Is it getting harder to do?"

"Yeah, a group of people in Chicago also came out to snatch up car supplies, so there weren't as many cars available in the second half of this year. And now the dealers are getting stricter and stricter, making it much more difficult to get cars. But it's still quite profitable, this money is easy to make."

"That's good enough. It's already pretty good that you can make quick money in this kind of business for more than a year."

Xu Li nodded: "I should thank you. You're involved in high-tech stuff, so you don't mind this little thing. This is a real bargain for me. Shall we eat first, or go to a hotel?"

"Let's eat first. I didn't eat much this morning, and I'm a little hungry."

"Okay, I'll take you to try some local specialties."

Xu Li drove the car directly into an alley in Keqiao Ancient Town. There was a branch of Shaoxing Restaurant in Keqiao. It wasn't the kind of touristy restaurant with red lanterns hanging around the corner, but the kind of old restaurant that locals would book for their weddings.

The environment is also nice; the windows of the private rooms on the second floor face a narrow waterway.

Xu Li ordered the dishes, all of which are local specialties.

Although braised pork with preserved mustard greens is a well-known dish found throughout the country, the taste here is just different. The pork is oily but not greasy, and the preserved mustard greens are also delicious.

There's also "Zaoji" (糟鸡), a unique Shaoxing cooking method where the chicken skin, marinated in rice wine lees, has a pale yellow sheen.

Even more unique are the "Three Stinky Things of Shaoxing": fermented bean curd sheets, fermented amaranth stems, and stinky tofu, all arranged on a plate. Xu Lixian picked up a piece of fermented bean curd sheets with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth: "Try it, it's better than Changsha stinky tofu."

Under immense pressure, Chen Yiran stretched out his chopsticks, but ultimately failed to touch the plate. He had a feeling that if the chopsticks touched the plate, they would be unusable.

"You win, I can't eat this."

After a few rounds of drinks and several dishes, Chen Yiran began to inquire about Xu Li's current situation: "Are you sure you're not going back? What's the situation now?"

Last month, Xu Li called Chen Yiran as a farewell, saying that he was not going to continue his studies and was going back to China.

This surprised Chen Yiran a bit. In his previous life, Xu Li had also returned to China after completing half of his studies, which was during his sophomore year in 2012. This was indeed much earlier than expected, so he naturally asked for the reason.

Xu Li simply explained that the family business was in trouble, and his two uncles had started fighting over the inheritance, so he had to go back.

Xu Li took a sip of Coke and said, "Hey, we're at a stalemate. My family situation is complicated. My dad started his business more than 20 years ago. Back then, the whole family worked together. My dad contributed the most money and was the main force in the company's development, holding 70% of the shares."

Then my second and third uncles didn't have any money at the time, but they each got a 15% share and came to work together. To be honest, my two uncles were very capable. They didn't speak any foreign languages, but they memorized the key words and used them to deal with foreigners, and they got a lot of orders.

But ultimately, my dad has contributed more, both technically and in terms of company operations. He's definitely put in the most effort. So we've never had any disagreements, and our relationship has always been good.

But at the beginning of this year, they suddenly started making trouble together, complaining to my grandparents that the three brothers should divide the shares equally.

Chen Yiran frowned and asked, "Why should I? The shareholding was agreed upon back then. Can you just insist on demanding it?"

"Hey, many family businesses around here are like this; they basically discuss it among themselves and then split up. But actually, it's hard to call our family a family business, since family businesses are usually started with pooled funds."

Our family business started with the savings my dad had earned working away from home. My two uncles worked for us, and they weren't without pay or shares.

"Yeah, so isn't this nonsense? Just ignore them, why do you need to come back? You've even stopped studying."

Xu Li said with a worried look, "Sigh, my grandparents are a bit biased. It's not that they don't like me, but they prefer my cousins."

Their current argument is that I've succeeded on my own, earned nearly ten million US dollars by studying abroad and doing some business, so I shouldn't be competing with my brothers for the family business.

She said the same thing to my dad, saying he was capable and could easily divide the family business well, helping her brothers earn more money.

"Is this outrageous?"

"That's right, so I had to come back quickly. My dad has transferred all the shares to me, which is basically forcing me to take over the business ahead of schedule. To be honest, it's quite troublesome. This is not a business like parallel imports where you can make money with your eyes closed."

Chen Yiran didn't offer any random advice, after all, he didn't understand this industry either.

He vaguely remembered that now seemed like a good time to do Amazon, but he wasn't sure and had to go back and check.

After dinner, Xu Li took Chen Yiran to look around at the famous scenic spots in the area. There was nothing particularly special about them. The only interesting one was the Tiangong Buddha, which Chen Yiran had never seen before. He felt that it was not as big as the Leshan Giant Buddha.

But it looks better in appearance, and it looks like it's hidden in a stone, very lifelike.

Afterwards, Chen Yiran checked directly into the Shaoxing Jianhu Hotel, a garden-style five-star resort hotel located next to the Keyan Scenic Area. It had just been renovated this year, featuring Hui-style architecture with white walls and black tiles. The room offered a view of Jianhu Lake and the Tiangong Buddha.

Chen Yiran lay in bed and started browsing Amazon, thinking about how to help his old friend and come up with some good ideas.
