Reborn in 2010, the AI in my mind is too powerful.
Chapter 200 filming completed.
The Big Bang Theory is CBS’s flagship sitcom, which tells the story of four scientists from Caltech and their neighbor Penny.
Although the four brilliant scientists are all highly intelligent, they are not only bookworms, but also a little strange in personality.
This show has hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, and the genius physicist Sheldon Cooper, who has severe obsessive-compulsive disorder and mysophobia, is one of the most well-known television characters of the past decade.
His roommate, Leonard Hofstadter, was an experimental physicist with a good temper who could tolerate Sheldon's various quirks and was the most normal nerd in the group of four.
Howard Wolowitz is the only engineer in the group of four without a PhD. He is constantly mocked by Sheldon for his master's degree. His character is initially portrayed as a chauvinist, but he is later changed to be the first character to get married.
The last one is Rajesh Kusapa, an astrophysicist of Indian descent. His character has a psychological disorder; he becomes speechless in the presence of women and needs alcohol to socialize normally. It's a bit of a shame about this role, mainly because the original actress he was cast with withdrew midway through the project, which led to him and Howard swapping roles.
This episode was made on purpose; it starts with news of Chen Yiran's speech at Caltech.
Then comes the classic scene of the four of them eating in the cafeteria, where Sheldon is quite unhappy about Chen Yiran's popularity: "I don't understand why he is so popular."
Leonard put the spoon back in the bowl and said, "Because he created an AI that can understand human speech?"
Howard tapped the phone screen with his finger and said, "Doubao can not only understand human speech, but also answer questions, book flights, set reminders, and help you find recipes. For example, when I asked Doubao, 'What are some good Thai restaurants nearby?' it immediately listed three for me, and even sorted them by rating."
Sheldon scoffed, poking a slice of tomato with his fork: "That's just natural language processing plus a knowledge graph. Someone at Berkeley published an architecture for it back in 2003."
Leonard was interrupted by Sheldon before he could finish speaking: "No, the deeper level is actually multimodal attention..."
“I know what multimodal attention is,” Sheldon interrupted Leonard. “The point isn’t what he did, it’s what others didn’t do. He just found the right news outlet at the right time. A talking search box.”
Raj put down the bread and said, "Then make one better than his."
"Should I become better than him?"
"Yes, you do it. Didn't you say it was just natural language processing plus a knowledge graph? You create one using your natural language processing and your knowledge graph."
Sheldon placed his fork across the plate: "Hmph, let me calculate how long it will take me to make an AI assistant. My research is taking up a lot of time with quantum cosmology, and I still need to write an attention-based sequence model by hand, prepare training data, and tune hyperparameters..."
Howard whispered to Leonard, "He said he can't do it."
Leonard nodded: "There are things Sheldon can't do either."
Raj laughed and said, "Oh, so Sheldon is finally giving up?"
Sheldon shook his head, his movements very robotic, and after a moment's thought, said, "But on another level, an AI can save me a lot of time in the future. For example, if Howard sends me meaningless, funny emails again, it can handle them for me. Give me two weeks, and I can succeed in two weeks."
Howard sat up straight in his chair: "How about we make a bet? If your AI is inferior to Doubao, then give me the first issue of your original Batman comic. If I lose, I'll give you my Iron Man helmet, how about that?"
Sheldon swayed and twisted his neck, saying, "I see no sign of losing, so it's settled."
The story then unfolds, with Sheldon discovering that he is unable to complete the task once he actually begins to work on it.
There are actually many similar jokes in this show. Although the four people are all top geniuses, they are not professionals in many things and cannot do them when it comes to actual practice.
Sheldon is unable to complete his own AI, nor can he use Chen Yiran's technology, so he will definitely not be able to surpass Doubao.
Left with no other choice, he had to use Google's technology.
Then he received ridicule from others. Howard shook his head and said, "Sheldon, you know Google is willing to sponsor the next hundred years' worth of coffee so that our school will stop using DeepFlow. Even so, we didn't agree. The gap is too big."
Leonard added, "Even you don't use Google anymore, DUCK Search is much better. If you can't do it, just give up."
Sheldon, annoyed again, retorted, "Google may not be good, but I have my own advantages!"
The three looked at each other and asked in unison, "What advantages?"
Sheldon looked up and said, "That's Dr. Sheldon Cooper! I can use my own AI to train it, let it study my papers, read my diaries! I'm sure I can train an even more powerful AI!"
Then it was Chen Yiran's turn to appear. It was still in the Caltech cafeteria, where the four of them were evaluating Sheldon's AI.
But this AI was brain-dead; no matter what you asked it, it just kept awkwardly praising Google. Leonard refuted it with a few well-reasoned points, and it got stuck.
Sheldon was frustrated by the loss of his treasured comic book collection and then began to launch a verbal attack on Google.
After that, Chen Yiran appeared with Olson. The principal first introduced Chen Yiran to a few people, saying that he would provide some sponsorship in the future, and then asked four people to take Chen Yiran on a tour.
Then came the part where Chen Yiran started showing off, fully demonstrating Doubao's current strength.
Then he helped Sheldon improve his AI, abandoning Google's technology and using Deepflow, which became a very useful personal assistant.
Of course, there are also some other side plots for comedic effect, such as Howard recognizing Olsen and trying to flirt with him like a lecherous man, but Olsen directly rejects Howard because of his height.
After blushing for a while, Howard asked Olson if he could introduce Olson to his two older sisters, since both of Olson's sisters were petite and under 1.6 meters tall.
Then Olsen showed off his skills, knocking Howard down with a single punch.
At the end of the episode, Chen Yiran suggested a bonus scene.
At 11 p.m., Sheldon and Leonard arrived at the school.
Leonard asked, utterly speechless, "I really don't believe the principal would let you speak to me at this hour!"
Sheldon looked at the dark office, took out his phone, and asked, "Didn't you say the principal sent me an email?"
The phone rang with Sheldon's signature voice: "BAZINGA!"
BAZINGA is a catchphrase that Sheldon often uses when playing pranks.
Chen Yiran felt that this would give everyone some room for imagination, and that in the future, AI could truly be shaped according to one's own personality and abilities.
After filming wrapped, Chen Yiran left with Olsen without lingering, as he had important business to attend to the next day.
Some of the events in the show are not fictional; he was indeed going to visit Caltech.
