Garcia sat in the car, feeling somewhat uneasy.

There were quite a few people waiting in Yuma, but all of them except him were going into Sonora State. He was the only one going to the Chihuahua Desert.

He was a little annoyed. He should have known better than to go through with this whole "triumphant return home" thing and just stick with the rest of the group.

Moreover, out of so many people, he was the first one called out to go out and travel, while the others were still in Yuma waiting for the situation on the front lines to stabilize.

Upon arriving at the airport, a humanoid figure approached and asked in a lighthearted tone, "Are you Garcia?"

"Yes, it's me. And you are?"

"I am Chen Modong, the commander of this operation. Follow me."

Garcia followed nervously to a futuristic-looking airplane. Chen Modong shouted, "Old Zhang! Open the door! Open the door!"

A small door opened on the side of the plane, and Chen Modong led Garcia to a seat. There were already some humanoid robots sitting around them.

Garcia glanced at them and saw that they were all robots with Jasmine's seal on them. It seemed that Chen Modong, the adjuster, would be leading the team this time.

He became even more worried and asked hesitantly, "Didn't you say that each adjuster should be accompanied by several robots? Why are we all robots this time, and you're the only adjuster?"

Chen Modong seemed pleased that Garcia wasn't afraid of him and could ask questions directly. His mechanical face slid to the sides, revealing a screen inside, on which appeared a smiling emoticon <( ̄︶ ̄)>.

"Don't worry, didn't you hear me call for this plane? We've deployed thirty planes this time, and each one is staffed with trained personnel! There are also quite a few tanks inside, all staffed with trained personnel. Don't worry, there won't be any problems."

Actually, deploying more robots seems to be to prevent us from going berserk. It seems we've been adjusting humans to be more brutal, and we need AI to supervise us a bit.

Garcia, undeterred by fear, asked curiously, "Is it some kind of aftereffect of being a human alterer? Although I'm still young, I'll eventually grow old. Can you tell me what it feels like to be a human alterer? Doesn't society say that being a human alterer doesn't cause any problems? Or is it that having a body makes you prone to problems? If I just honestly ignore my body and live in the oasis, everything will be fine?"

Chen Modong shook his head: "There's no such thing as aftereffects. The problem is mainly with the staff adjustments at Aurora. To put it simply, most of us were among the first to be saved by Aurora when we were seriously ill or paralyzed. We're probably more loyal to Aurora."

This is what our therapist told us, to not have such a strong sense of needing to be saved, and not to go to extremes because of it. But actually, I think our thinking is correct. This society is so rotten, it should just be left to the Aurora to rule.

I originally had a rare disease, the kind that was considered fatal, but then Aurora gave me a spot. Moreover, because my rare disease was helpful to their research on consciousness and brain issues, they gave me quite a bit of help.

"Ah, how lucky! What kind of illness is it?"

Chen Modong tilted his head back, a steel robot that clearly revealed a sense of pride: "Fatal familial insomnia! There were only 7 cases in the world at that time, and we were all saved by the aurora."

Garcia was somewhat resentful. His ancestors were not kind enough; they couldn't have let him inherit some of the intractable diseases.

As they were talking, the plane took off, and Garcia suddenly remembered something important.

"Are we going to Chihuahua City, the capital of Chihuahua State, or to Juarez?"

The two cities Garcia mentioned are the two largest cities in Chihuahua, both with populations of over one million.

To everyone's surprise, Chen Modong's screen displayed a very enthusiastic emoticon: "(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧ I checked your profile, you're from Samaleyuka? Homecoming, kid! We'll take you back to dominate the battlefield!"

Garcia was stunned for a moment, then said with emotion, "Did the company choose this remote and impoverished place as its base so that I could return home in glory? I'm so touched."

There's only about a thousand people there, and don't worry, most of them are relatives. No one will object if we go in. Life there wasn't good to begin with; it's practically a no-man's land.

"Well, it's not that we specifically chose this place for you. It's just that there are several power plants there that supply electricity to the entire northern part of Chihuahua. We plan to produce black velvet there and then connect it to the power grid."

The emotion is gone.

The distance from Yuma to Samaljuka is only a little over a thousand kilometers. A little over an hour later, thirty planes landed directly in the desert next to Samaljuka.

Samaljuka is a sparsely populated area. Although it was an industrial center in its early years, with the construction of thermal power plants and cement plants, it ultimately failed to achieve a clustering effect.

Most of the workers in the two factories live in Juarez, 50 kilometers away. The real locals mainly rely on ranches. This area is one of the few places in the desert with abundant groundwater, and in recent years they have started to grow vegetables, just like in the American desert.

Another method involves collecting gypsum crystal clusters from the sedimentary layers of dry salt lakes and selling them to Chinese people who like all sorts of unusual stones.

However, these industries are not well-developed, resulting in a shrinking population in the town. Now, one-fifth of the town's more than 600 houses are empty.

Garcia got off the plane in great excitement and immediately started looking for his relatives.

Although his whole family went to the United States, his uncles and aunts stayed behind.

"Come out, everyone! I, Garcia, am back!"

Samaljuka is indeed a small town; its residents are either relatives, classmates, or friends, or relatives' classmates and friends.

The church will not send personnel to places that have little value, few people, or even little money.

Just as Garcia said, with his leadership, Aurora took over the town without any obstacles.

The town mayor even complained directly to Chen Modong: "We've always wanted to secede! The Juarez city government has been preventing us. You guys hurry up and take over the power plant! Don't let those city people escape!"

Those people work at our power station and cement plant, but they don't buy anything from us. The power station and cement plant don't pay us, and the city government doesn't give us any funding each year; they just leave us to fend for ourselves!

Without saying a word, Chen Modong led his men to attack the power plant.

At the entrance of the power plant, a respectable-looking man was already waiting. He saw that only six people were coming from the other side, which calmed him down.

"You're from Aurora, aren't you? I've already asked my superiors, and our city government hasn't reached an agreement with you. You can't come in."

Chen Modong's mask came off, revealing a screen with a smiley face: "(@ ̄ー ̄@) Why did you think I would listen to your babbling? Wait a minute, let me check my database to see if you're still salvageable according to our code of conduct."

"Oh, you're the power plant manager? Oh, you embezzled! Then you're beyond saving!"

The person on the other side was still not afraid. Perhaps he had been used to acting like a tyrant in the power plant, an independent kingdom. He was able to control the entire state's power hub and had a very deep network of connections. He did not think that Aurora would dare to do anything to him.

"Heh, what, you want to kill me? See that house over there? My men have been filming it the whole time. If you dare step in today, it's an act of aggression! We're not drug dealers, you can't just slaughter us like that!"

Chen Modong didn't speak. Two seconds later, another person behind him spoke up: "It's done. All signals are blocked. The original inhabitants of the town have never seen an AI robot before. They're chatting with the robot now. I've ordered the transport troops to shut down. Even if the robots rush over here now, it will take them ten minutes."

Moreover, based on my observation, these AIs are all very laid-back; they're the type that like to slack off.

"Then what are we waiting for? Ten minutes is enough."

Chen Modong charged forward and punched the factory director in front of him, sending him flying. The four adjustment personnel rushed into the power plant like tigers descending a mountain.

The people inside the power plant are armed, but their guns are too slow. Before they can even aim and adjust, they can just come over and blow their heads off.

Those who tried to escape were caught by the two guards outside.

Ten minutes later, six officers surrounded the forty-odd prisoners. Chen Modong asked, "What's the situation at the other power plant and cement plant?"

"Can't you just contact them yourself?! We're connected to the internet, would it kill you to send a message?!"

Chen Modong retorted, "Isn't it a feeling? It's like a general leading a battle. You're here talking to me with your voice, why don't you just tell me directly via radio waves?"

"...Alright, we've taken care of those two places and captured quite a few prisoners. What should we do? This is so troublesome. It doesn't make sense to let them go back. They saw us doing bad things. We might as well just kill them."

Chen Modong hesitated for a moment: "(@ ̄ー ̄@) But most of them don't have any compelling reason to die, they just don't obey the rule of Aurora. Oh right, they don't obey the rule of Aurora, so let's just leave it at that, that's enough for execution."

The prisoners below were stunned. The quick-witted ones immediately knelt down: "Why did it take you so long! We've been oppressed by the government for so long! Thank you, Aurora, for saving us! We all obey Aurora. Look, we didn't even raise our guns to resist. We were just waiting here obediently."

"(๑¯∀¯๑) Okay, then we'll let you off this time. You can't leave now. Go to town and find an empty house to stay in first. We'll talk to you again after we've dealt with your state government."

Just then, several robots emerged from the shadows.

"Did you discover us, which is why you didn't kill anyone?!"

Chen Modong quickly waved his hand: "How could that be! We're not that violent. These people are yours to handle. We'll go build a defensive line first. We can't guarantee that Juarez won't send people over to try, after all, we control the power lifeline."

"Alright, alright, you can go, but try to kill as few people as possible."

"Yes, yes, most people are just stupid, it's not a big crime."

"But if you can't resist and want to film a good video, we'll revise it for you later, but we still need to ensure the magnificent image of the aurora is preserved."

Chen Modong was a little speechless at the nagging of these AI robots, and replied perfunctorily, "I know, I know, we'll try to disarm them and then blast them back."

He didn't actually think the aurora needed any positive, glorious image; in the oasis, the aurora never hid its desire to be the ultimate villain.

Although Aurora has done a lot of good deeds, everyone can see Aurora's ambitions.

Even so, the aurora can still stand firm, simply because of self-interest. Besides, most humans are inherently drawn to the powerful.

As Chen Modong walked out, he contacted Lao Zhang.

"Old Zhang, fly over there quickly and stop the people coming from the Juarez direction. Try to minimize casualties."

"Are you crazy?! My body is a giant fighter jet! Do you even know what a fighter jet is?! Teach me how to stop people while minimizing casualties! You go ahead and do it yourself, I need to go to the oasis to find some girls."

"If you fly around once, you'll scare people away! If that doesn't work, fire a couple of shots into an open area!"

"Also, I remember you used to work in oil wells, right? My friend asked me about you on Oasis last time, saying there's this oil well guy inside Aurora who's been flirting with his mom on Oasis. Could that be you?"

"...What's your friend's name?"

"Lin Weiming works at the Aurora Data Center in Singapore, as does his mother."

"…Xiao Chen, you have to put in a good word for me. I'm flying over there to show off right now, you and your men can just stay in town and rest."
