Mystery: Death Singer

Chapter 4 The Nameless Cemetery

In the vast, desolate world, Edric sat up from the ground, covered in sweat, his eyes tightly closed, his lips pressed together, and the muscles on his cheeks bulging slightly.

He was awakened by a deep, soul-deep pain.

Fortunately, experience makes perfect, and based on his experience of being tormented from time to time over the previous three years, Edric was able to control his expression in a very short time.

Even though his brain was still throbbing, to the point that he wanted to open his skull to see what was hurting inside.

Edric immediately mustered his strength to survey his surroundings, but the horrifying scene that greeted him made him gasp for breath.

Those were horrifying white bones, grotesque and eerie. Their size and shape clearly indicated that they came from different creatures. Their sheer number was so vast that they formed mountains and covered the earth, occupying all the space around him.

Edric's eyes darted around, and his breathing quickened slightly involuntarily. Even as a transmigrator, he was shocked by the extremely impactful scene before him.

What reassured him was that the surrounding bones seemed to have been there for many years; not only was there no flesh or blood on them, but there was also no strange smell that entered his nasal cavity.

After calming himself down briefly, Edrik first tried to lie back down, hoping to see if he could return to Tingen and the public restroom that had left such a deep impression on him.

Unfortunately, even though Edric wasted a full five minutes on the ground, he still couldn't leave this strange world filled with bones.

After his "tanking" tactic failed, Edric got up from the ground and looked around with a serious expression.

Although the memories in his mind were all fragmented and disjointed, he understood that he must have been involved in some extraordinary event, and that this extraordinary event most likely had only two possible outcomes: one very bad, and one extremely bad.

First, I'm experiencing some kind of hallucination; my body is actually still in that bathroom.

This trajectory seems fine at first glance, as long as one safely escapes the illusion. However, the three night watchmen waiting outside the washroom could very well bring Edric some unforeseen changes.

Secondly, Edric was not hallucinating; he had indeed come to this strange place filled with bones from a washroom in Tingen.

This trajectory is far worse than the first, meaning that the dangers inherent in this extraordinary event far exceed his current ability to handle.

The reason is simple: Edric doesn't remember the specific method or sequence number required to master the power of "teleportation."

But in any case, anyone capable of doing such a thing, whether an extraordinary being, a magical item, or even an extraordinary creature, is 100% stronger than a mere "corpse collector."

After observing his surroundings for a while but still unable to discern anything, Edric closed his eyes and decided to leave the choice of which direction to take to luck.

—With no idea when he could return, Edric had no choice but to take the initiative, because he was a real human being and without food and water, he would soon perish on this land of bones.

Edric spun around with his eyes closed for more than ten times until he started to feel dizzy and briefly lost his sense of direction before he stopped.

Without hesitation, Edric opened his eyes again and took a step in the direction he was facing, staggering onto the endless road of bones.

One minute, five minutes, ten minutes, thirty minutes...

As the bone peaks disappeared one after another behind him, all that remained in front of him and all around him were those ever-changing, pale white bones. Edric gradually lost his sense of time and direction. He didn't know how much longer he would have to move forward aimlessly, but it was better than staying in one place and doing nothing.

Finally, just as Edric was starting to pant and his strength was failing to sustain him any longer, a continuous stretch of dark shadows suddenly rose on the distant horizon.

Edric subconsciously shook his head, and upon discovering that the black line in the distance was still there, he couldn't help but smile, then sat down to rest.

Despite his urgency, he never forgot that he was in the midst of an extraordinary event. The extraordinary abilities provided by the "Corpse Collector" potion were few. Apart from some physical enhancements, the only remaining ability was the natural ability to see spirits directly.

In other words, if there are any hidden dangers in those unknown buildings in the distance, the unarmed Edric can only protect himself with his innate kung fu skills, so he needs to recover as much strength as possible.

After resting for about ten minutes, Edric, feeling that he had recovered to about 70-80%, got up from the ground and slowly walked towards the dark shadow in the distance.

As he got a little closer, Edric finally saw the true nature of the dark shape: it was an extremely large cemetery.

The cemetery's outer walls are devoid of bricks and stones; they consist entirely of twisted, interwoven, iron-black fences, resembling a thicket of thorns.

The cemetery gate has long since disappeared, and the dilapidated door frame is there only to tell visitors that this is the "gate".

Behind the gate are rows of dilapidated tombstones, many with obvious pits behind them. It's unclear whether no one ever moved in from the beginning, or if some deceased who didn't want to leave this world voluntarily "walked out".

Edric paused briefly at the gate to make sure he received no spiritual warnings before stepping into the cemetery.

The tombstones in the cemetery are not only numerous but also quite messy and disorganized. Fortunately, there is a very clear path among these tombstones and graves that leads directly into the depths of the cemetery.

Having come this far, Edric naturally set off along the path, wandering among the tombs.

Just then, an extremely subtle feeling rose from the depths of Edric's heart. It was a "longing" that was hard to describe in words, as if there was an unparalleled delicacy deep in the cemetery, which was unrestrainedly emitting its aroma and constantly arousing the deepest and most primal desires in his heart.

Edric was not swayed by his inner impulse. Instead, he suddenly shivered, his guard instantly going up. At the same time, a phrase that left a deep impression on him flashed through his mind—the Law of Extraordinary Characteristics Convergence!
