Mystery: Death Singer

Chapter 47 Marich

Putting down his pen and sealing the envelope, Edric rose from his chair and, using herbal powder instead of a silver knife, quickly sealed the entire room with spiritual energy.

Then, facing the wall, he took out his Solomon's coin and slowly infused it with spiritual energy. The room began to grow cold and icy, and one after another, hazy white bones gushed out from the floor, forming an eerie fountain.

In just a few seconds, these bones formed a phantom monster.

Its entire body is made of white bones, with black flames flickering in its eye sockets. It is nearly four meters tall and has an extremely robust physique, clearly a formidable fighter.

Feeling the gaze emanating from the skeletal messenger, Edric held up the letter in his hand and said calmly:

"Give this letter to Mr. Azik."

With a flick of its arm, as tall as Edric, the skeletal messenger took the letter from Edric's hand. In an instant, it disintegrated into countless bones, disappearing completely as it sank beneath the floor.

Having done all this, Edric dispelled the spiritual barrier, took off his clothes in the gentle breeze, and lay comfortably on the bed.

The next morning, Edric took today's Backlund Morning Post from the newsboy and flipped straight to page five, where the long-awaited GG article immediately caught his eye:

"Ernst Trading Company is buying the following goods: flour 7 pence per liter, butter 1 sulphur per pound, lard 6 pence per pound..."

Edric narrowed his eyes, instinctively sensing that some information was hidden in these acquired goods, but he lacked sufficient samples and basic information. After several attempts, he still couldn't figure out what these things represented, and in the end, he had no choice but to give up.

…………

The next day, Edric got up very early and arrived at the "Brave Man's Bar" before the sun had even risen. He easily found the place by exchanging a beer for a specific location and found Kaspas in a card room.

Knock knock~

Hearing the knock, Kaspass, who was playing "Fight the Evil," raised his eyelids and immediately recognized Edric, who left a deep impression on him. He quickly covered his cards, got up, walked to the door, and said in a low voice:

"I think I forgot to remind you last time that parties are usually held in the evening, you've come way too early."

Edric silently raised an eyebrow, and Kaspass, sensing some kind of invisible pressure, quickly explained:

"But I have some good news to share. Marich has heard about the downfall of the Black Skull Party and would like to get to know you."

Seeing that Edric didn't react, Kasparston paused for a moment and then added:

"Uh... he's the most amazing special guy I know, he's even immune to bullets."

"Not afraid of bullets?" Edric became interested, nodded slightly, and gestured with his chin towards the outside, indicating that Kaspas should lead the way.

With difficulty walking, Kaspas led Edric past the side of the boxing ring and into the bar near the kitchen. He suddenly stopped in front of a door and knocked lightly twice.

Knock knock~

After receiving permission from inside, Kaspass opened the door and voluntarily gave way.

Edric glanced around and found that it was also a card room, with a dozen or so "people" playing Texas Hold'em.

In the most basic spiritual vision of the extraordinary individuals who follow the "corpse collector" pathway, only one of these dozen or so card players appears to be normal; the auras of the rest are all deep black.

Edric knew what this meant; he had seen something similar just a few days ago—the two undead men who had helped him dig and seal the earth that night.

There were more than a dozen undead, at least mid-sequence extraordinary beings, but it was unclear how they came to be... Edric composed himself and closed the door behind him as he entered the card room.

Sensing the familiar stench of decay in the air, Edric's gaze swept past the zombies, precisely fixing on a man in a white shirt and black vest. His voice was low and deep as he spoke:

"Mr. Marich? Can't you... help them get rid of the smell? If all else fails, spraying some perfume to cover up the odor would be a good option."

Maric, whose face was almost as pale as Edric's, suddenly stopped. Even his eyes, which seemed to be hiding deep malice, became clearer. The speech he had prepared long ago was instantly stillborn.

After a brief silence, Maric put down his cards, stood up, left the table, and slowly walked over to Edric, his expression complex.

"I've heard you're quite capable, so I'd like to entrust you with a task."

Seeing that Edric nodded slightly to signal him to continue, Marich asked in a low voice:

Have you heard of the "prisoner" pathway?

Prisoners? Edric suddenly remembered a book he had read in the Hoy University library called "The Rise and Fall of the High Kingdoms" and a secret organization that was highlighted in the book—the Rose School.

Seeing the undisguised yet barely suppressed malice in Marich's eyes, Edric nodded and said:

"Is the mind a prisoner of the body, and the body a prisoner of the world?"

Maric, who hadn't expected to hear these words from Edric, was taken aback, and his voice suddenly softened considerably:

"I need you to stop a 'werewolf,' a Sequence 7 of the 'Prisoner' pathway. It possesses strong regenerative abilities, as well as terrifying strength, agility, and speed. Its claws and teeth are no less powerful than extraordinary weapons of the same sequence, and they are inherently poisonous."

"In addition, werewolves also know some dark magic, such as controlling targets who have been injected with werewolf poison for a period of time, turning them into subordinates and monsters similar to werewolves. However, these monsters have very short lifespans and are far less powerful than real werewolves."

"The prerequisite for a werewolf is 'madness,' which allows them to sacrifice their rationality for power. Apart from becoming less clear-headed, they gain improvements in all aspects."

"The starting point of this path, the 'prisoner,' can acquire many criminal skills and is adept at killing with any readily available object. This is extremely troublesome for ordinary people, but only average in the extraordinary realm."

"Apart from this werewolf, you don't need to worry about anything else. I will take care of everything. This can be written in the contract and have a professional 'notarize' it."

Edric wrote down all this information, then asked:

"Is there a time limit for this task? If not, I'd like to postpone it until next week, or the week after, after I complete my promotion."

Upon hearing that Edric was seeking a promotion, Marich nodded without any change in expression.

"This mission is still in the preparation stage."
