Mystery: Death Singer

Chapter 53 Good Things Come in Pairs

The process of this gathering was completely different from any Edric had attended before. After the "Stargazing Lady" announced the official start, waiters came out from the corners and offered paper and pens to everyone.

Seeing that everyone else in the hall had already skillfully begun writing and drawing, Edric also boldly wrote down his needs on a piece of white paper:

"Looking to buy a pair of 'Ghost Cat's front paws' and '80 ml of Ghost Cat's blood'."

"Selling the 'Corpse Collector' extraordinary trait, three available, £450 each."

Edric believed that once they reached the middle sequence level, both official Beyonders and wild Beyonders should have a certain understanding of "Extraordinary Characteristics," so he did not choose to use any "strange things" to refer to them.

After handing the pen and paper back to the waiter, Edric waited a while longer before seeing the waiters orderly retreat back into the shadows.

About five minutes later, several waiters emerged from the shadows with lists in hand and distributed them to each member of the party.

Edric took the list and glanced at it briefly. He found that the list was divided into two sides. The front was filled with the various requests of the party members. Some wanted to buy potion recipes, extraordinary materials or magical items, while others posted tasks to gather people to explore ancient ruins or hunt extraordinary creatures. The list was very comprehensive.

On the other side, there were all sorts of "goods" displayed on the shelves. Edric even saw someone selling a "Ocean Singer" extraordinary trait, which corresponds to Sequence 5 of the "Sailor" pathway!

Besides all sorts of extraordinary things, this place also sells all kinds of information, from major events involving officials and nobles of various countries to minor matters like the overnight annihilation of the "Black Skull Party" that occupied the East District and Bridge area.

Edric wasn't sure which pieces of intelligence were important and which weren't, but he could read the price tag below each piece of intelligence, thus gaining a relatively clear understanding of their value.

After a while, as people were gradually entering the rooms at the edge of the hall to conduct transactions, a servant suddenly approached Edric and whispered to him:

"Sir, someone is very interested in what you are selling and is willing to buy it all."

Four hundred and fifty pounds multiplied by three equals a total of one thousand three hundred and fifty pounds... Edric couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth, and got up to follow the waiter into an empty room at the edge of the hall.

In the quiet and private room, Edric took three "corpse collector" traits from the iron cigarette case and handed them to the waiter. He then received 1,350 gold pounds from the waiter and slowly returned to the hall.

He never met the buyer who had spent a fortune to purchase three extraordinary properties before the transaction was completed.

This shows that the parties hosted by "Stargazing Lady," or "Element Dawn," place great emphasis on the privacy of their guests. With people constantly entering and leaving each room, it is difficult for anyone to determine who is buying and selling based on the time, thus greatly improving security.

With his recent gains, Edric's savings had jumped to two thousand three hundred pounds, and he was in a good mood. His gaze slowly moved around, roughly observing the entire hall, silently memorizing the appearance of each person.

He was well aware that these people were likely faking it, and that everything they were showing, even their gender, could be fake, but it was always good to make a note of it.

What if there are others like Marich among these members who simply wear a mask to the party? If we encounter them outside of the party in the future, we can have a rough estimate of their strength and be on guard in advance.

Time ticked by, and just when Edric thought the party was about to end, a waiter quietly approached him and handed him a piece of white paper with a short sentence written on it in Rune:

"A pair of 'Ghost Cat's Forelegs', £600."

"The Blood of the Ghost Cat, 80 ml, 50 pounds."

"...We are all children of God, and death is noble and sacred..."

Edric paused for a moment, staring at the last paragraph of text that seemed to be written in a frenzied manner, and then instantly became alert.

He was certain that the person selling these two extraordinary materials was no ordinary person; they were very likely a member of the secret organization "Spiritual Cult" who was currently trying to proselytize him.

The Spirit Cult is an ancient and secretive organization that originated in the Southern Continent. They possess the "corpse collector" pathway, worship the God of Death, and controlled the entire Southern Continent for a long period of time.

However, after the "Pale Catastrophe" and the establishment of the Highlands Kingdom by the "Rose School," the organization's influence was far less than it had been at its peak.

Later, after Russell Gustav successfully opened up new sea routes and the nations of the North and the Church of the Seven Gods poured into the South, the situation worsened, and the once invincible Spirit Order was even on the verge of destruction.

After weighing the pros and cons repeatedly, Edric raised his hand, took the pen from the waiter, quickly wrote down his request in Rune, and then watched the waiter return to a room.

Edric didn't want to miss out on these two extraordinary materials, as he was eager to advance to the level of "Spiritualist" and become even more powerful.

But he didn't want any contact with people who might be members of the spiritual cult, so he asked the organizers of the gathering for a small favor—

First, buy those two extraordinary materials for Edric, and then conduct a second transaction with him after the party, thus getting rid of the initial seller whose background and capabilities are unknown.

For this, Edric was even willing to pay a full fifty pounds as a "service fee".

About twenty minutes later, after all the transactions were completed and everyone had returned to their seats without anyone getting up to go to a private room, "Lady Stargazer" returned to the center of the hall and announced that the gathering was over. Everyone then left one by one through different secret doors.

Edric got up and followed the waiter who had handed him the white paper earlier, slowly entering a hidden door leading to the ground floor, and successfully obtained the "Ghost Cat's" forepaw and blood before leaving.

Thus, Edric spent nearly two months successfully collecting all the potion materials needed for Sequence 7 "The Necromancer".

After a slight adjustment of his condition and strict adherence to the recipe for preparing the potion, Edric will be able to open the door to Sequence Seven and become a true mid-sequence powerhouse.
