Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons
Chapter 15 Prince Damon of the Capital
The story of "Fourteen Fire Seals" was quickly finished.
Baylor closed the book, looked at Helena who had fallen asleep, shook his head helplessly, and carefully carried her to his bed.
Then, she quietly closed the door and went to her dear sister Renilla's room to rest.
……
Two months have passed in the blink of an eye.
Just as the Prince was getting dressed and preparing to attend the Imperial Council as usual, Larry Strang, who had been promoted to Chief Inquisitor, arrived limping.
"Your Highness, we have just received intelligence that Prince Damon personally used himself as bait to successfully lure out the leader of the Crab Feeders, and together with Lord Cox, they launched a pincer attack and successfully subjugated the Stone Steps Islands."
"His Majesty the King has specifically sent me here to invite you and him to go outside King's Landing to welcome Prince Damon's return."
"Renera has already gone ahead. The Queen will preside over the victory celebration banquet in the palace."
Beller wasn't surprised by the battle report; instead, he thought to himself, "His uncle is truly a useful sword!"
"His father was just teasing him, but Damon not only beat up the messenger, he also went to the Steps Islands to act as bait, which finally calmed the war down."
Baylor went back to his room and used the flame of a candle to destroy the paper in his hand.
"Laris, have you found any news about the Glutton?"
Baylor clearly preferred to focus his attention on the dragon he had been searching for for two months rather than on his soon-to-be-returning uncle.
"Your Highness, according to my informants, that black wild dragon appeared in the waters near Dragonstone Island three days ago. The exact location is still under investigation."
As he spoke, Larry made a simple map of the areas where the gluttons often appeared and handed it to Prince Baylor for his reference.
Baylor accepted the map and glanced at the clock hanging on the wall.
"It's getting late, come with me to greet my good uncle."
……
King's Landing, the Dragon Gate.
King Viserys was the leader, with his eldest son and daughter on his left and the royal court ministers, led by Prime Minister Leonor, on his right.
They had been waiting there for a long time since the sun had just risen, to welcome Prince Damon Targaryen, the first hero of the war against the Three Kingdoms and the Steps Isles, who was known as the "Prince of the Capital".
"Your Majesty, it's been an hour already. Even if Prince Damon were riding in a carriage, he should have arrived long ago," Jasper said impatiently to Otto.
Not only him, but even Prime Minister Leonor looked extremely grim. No matter how great a prince's achievements, they cannot compare to the king's majesty!
"Your Majesty, shall I ride over first to assess the situation?"
"I believe my brother. Something must have happened to him on the way, which is why his brother has been waiting until now." Viserys deliberately made his words sound nice.
In reality, I've already cursed this eternally immature, impulsive, and stupid younger brother a thousand times over!
"Hiss... Gah..."
Suddenly, a strange roar came from afar.
In the sky ahead, a massive red figure rapidly approached the direction where the king was.
Sharp horns, a serpentine, slender body, and red wings like scimitars...
"It's Uncle's Coraksh!" Renilla exclaimed excitedly first.
The arrival of the dragon drew the attention of all the nobles. Faced with such a colossal creature, apart from Baelor and Viserys, who remained calm, the other ministers who came to greet it instinctively took a step back.
"Ladies and gentlemen, there is no need to panic. The royal dragons will only attack enemies who oppose the dynasty."
Viserys remained calm and composed as he looked at the approaching dragon, displaying the aura of a king to everyone.
Hearing the king's words, the ministers present were indeed relieved, watching the red dragon fly over them and head towards King's Landing.
"Look, that's Korakshu, Prince Damon's dragon!!"
"By the Seven Gods! The return of the Prince of the Capital will surely restore the security of King's Landing to its highest level!"
"Welcome back, Prince!"
The common people and the golden-robed officers in charge of military affairs cheered excitedly, chanting the names of Prince Damon and Corakhu.
"Kolaksh!"
Damon sat on the dragon saddle and gently patted Corakshyu's neck.
One man and one dragon, their hearts are in sync.
Korakshyu immediately understood the dragon rider's idea, spewing red flames in the air before passing through them with Damon.
After flying around King's Landing to announce the official return of the Prince of the Capital, Damon then controlled Corakshyu and flew back to Viserys and the other ministers.
Damon immediately flipped off the dragon's back, a double-edged axe in his hand and a vine crown on his head, and strode toward his brother and king, Viserys.
"Prince Damon, no one may offend the King!"
Kingsguard Captain Harold drew his sword from his waist and pointed it at Damon's chest.
Damon dismissed it and turned his attention to his brother.
Viserys was the same, except that he held his family's sword Blackfyre in his hand and coldly sized up the exaggerated and arrogant Damon.
The two exchanged a knowing glance, and for a moment, neither chose to speak first.
The ministers who came to greet them dared not speak.
This is a royal family matter.
Interrupting suddenly could very well provoke Prince Damon's hostility.
A few seconds later, Damon took a step back and threw the double-edged axe in his hand in front of Viserys.
"This is the spoils of war; add it to the Iron Throne."
Viserys, still wielding the black flame, stared coldly at the crown atop his head. "My brother, you wear a crown. Have you proclaimed yourself king?"
Damon placed his hands on his lower abdomen, looking just like a well-behaved child. "After the alliance of the Three Kingdoms was utterly defeated, people called me the 'King of the Narrow Sea.'"
Viserys maintained his composure, awaiting Damon's next response.
Damon looked at Viserys again and continued, "But I know, Your Majesty, that there is only one king in all the world."
With that, Damon, under the watchful eyes of all the Baelor, Rhaenyra, and all the ministers, knelt on one knee before Viserys and removed the vine crown.
He solemnly declared, "My crown and the Stone Steps Archipelago belong to you!"
The ministers present were all shocked. The arrogant and haughty "Knight-errant Prince" had actually shown Viserys, his brother, the respect and dignity due to a king.
Hearing this, Viserys finally broke into a smile and looked behind Damon, "Where is Lord Corliss? Didn't he come?"
"He set sail back to his hometown on Chaotou Island."
"What's the situation on the Stone Steps Islands? Who's guarding them now?"
"Tides, crabs, and two thousand pirates from the Third Daughter Kingdom, nailed to the beach as a warning to others."
Damon knew that if the king wanted to return to the royal family, the ownership of the Steps Islands was extremely important.
