Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons

Chapter 17 Damon's Gift - The Dragon Taming Manual

The banquet lasted until late at night.

Baylor couldn't hold on any longer and was about to say goodbye to his father when Damon seemed to suddenly remember something and waved to him.

"Nephew, I heard you loved reading when you were in Old Town. This is an ancient book I found on the battlefield, a gift for you as a token of our meeting and best wishes."

"May you become a learned prince in the future."

Damon's plan was quite clever; taking advantage of everyone being a little drunk, he subtly hid his thoughts in his words.

Viserys, standing to the side, looked incredibly pleased to see Damon showing such concern for his nephew.

"Beile, do not disappoint your uncle's good intentions. Not only must you study diligently, but you must also become a crown prince who excels in both literature and martial arts!"

"I understand, Father. I will certainly not let Uncle down!"

The prince accepted the ancient book with a smile, and did not forget to bow separately to his good uncle to express his gratitude.

"My child, Damon is family. Family doesn't need to be so formal," Viserys said kindly.

Renella gently patted Beller's forehead and whispered in his ear, "My dear brother, you are the future heir to the Iron Throne. Show some of your royal authority!"

Although Renilla liked her uncle very much, she clearly favored Baylor, who was her blood relative and whom she had taken care of since childhood.

"Sister, can you please stop patting my head? What if I turn into an idiot?" Baylor quickly took a step to the side.

"It's alright. If you really become an idiot, I'll lock you up in the Red Keep of King's Landing and take care of you for the rest of your life," Rhaenyra said with a smile, pinching Baylor's cheek.

"Then forget it."

"Sister, you always forget things. If I really let you support me, what if you forget me at the Red Castle one day?" Baylor hurriedly shook his head, indicating his refusal.

Renilla smiled kindly at her clueless younger brother.

"My dear little brother, don't lock the door tonight! Your dear sister will show you what the wrath of a sleeping dragon is all about!"

I'm doomed! Will I even survive tonight?

In the end, it was Viserys who came to Baylor's rescue, allowing him to take the book back to rest.

……

Upon returning to his room, Belial, who was fluent in the ancient Valyrian language, immediately opened the ancient book.

The text records the views of a dragon king family called "Vaghar" on magical creatures like dragons.

After decades of experience, they were surprised to discover that prolonged imprisonment would limit the growth of dragons.

They are products of magic, and they need to fight each other, soar through the sky, and eat more food to grow strong.

Just like the Dothraki people's pickiness and desire for fine horses, only the strongest and most powerful horses on the grasslands were qualified to give birth to their offspring.

The same is true of dragons.

As magical creatures, even if they suffer severe injuries, as long as they are not fatal, they can accelerate their recovery by consuming food.

In addition to these, the "Vaghar" dragon king family also recounted their experience in taming dragons.

For example, during the young dragon's life, they will use simulation training to teach the young dragons how to avoid danger and hunt.

How should a dragon accompany its rider to establish a bond as quickly as possible, and what kind of food should it be fed to promote its rapid growth during its infancy?

There were also the individual habits of dragons, and all sorts of knowledge being unearthed like a treasure trove, which made Baylor feel as if he had seen a new continent he had never seen before.

It must be acknowledged that the Vagahar Dragonflight family far surpasses the Targaryen family in terms of raising, taming, and understanding dragons.

This knowledge is extremely important to the Targaryen family right now, even concerning their control and rule over dragons.

"Unfortunately, the last few pages are so blurry that the text is illegible." Baylor sighed silently.

However, when it comes to limiting the development of dragons, (the complete sentence needs to be added here as it is incomplete)

He remembered that almost all of his family's dragons slumbered in the dragon lairs of the Red Keep and Dragonstone.

To prevent them from fighting each other and harming any potential offspring or themselves, the students of the Citadel suggested shackles on both the baby dragons and the main dragons.

The students of the Citadel suggested shackles on the young dragons and the dragons themselves to prevent them from fighting each other.

One is the valuable experience left behind by the Dragon King family, which has been passed down for over a thousand years.

Another is the Citadel, which Baelor knew intimately from childhood and consistently rejected the Targaryen family.

Baylor hardly needed to think about how to choose.

"Imprisonment will cause dragons to grow slowly."

"I must find an opportunity to suggest to my father that we remove the chains and release the dragons from their lair, allowing them to roam freely," Baylor pondered to himself.

He then placed the precious book under his pillow.

As an outstanding bachelor, Beller understood better than anyone else that invaluable knowledge was priceless.

The only pity is that there is only one copy of this book from ancient Valyria.

If they could collect more, the Targaryen family would not only grow stronger with dragons, but also with the ancient heritage from the ancient Valyrian dragonflight family!

"I'll ask Uncle Hao tomorrow morning. Since we can find relevant books, there can't be only one."

With that thought in mind, Baylor lay down on the bed and fell asleep contentedly.

The night passed quickly.

The sunlight slowly rises, shining into the warm and comfortable room.

Baylor had a rare night without nightmares, but even so, the dark circles under his eyes showed no signs of fading.

"It's no wonder my good uncle looked at me with disdain. With my half-dead appearance, everyone would think the same thing."

Baylor looked at his reflection in the glass and sighed helplessly.

Although there's no way to get rid of his dark circles for the time being, the knowledge in his mind has definitely increased!

Through his reading of the books about the "Waghar" family, Beller suddenly discovered some details in the books.

For example, dragons are not simply magical creatures; they also possess intelligence comparable to that of humans and are picky about their food.

Some dragons will indiscriminately attack family members during taming. Others will deliberately adopt an aggressive posture to test the tamer's temperament.

Therefore, after many failures, the "Vaghar" family developed its own method of taming dragons with different personalities.

Unfortunately, this information was not recorded in the book. If Baylor hadn't read the book so carefully, this important information would probably have been overlooked!

After putting the book back under his pillow, Baylor got up, dressed, and went downstairs for breakfast.

Viserys and Rhaenyra sat in the main seat and the first seat on the left, respectively. Allison and her children sat on the right, while Damon sat opposite Viserys.

Good morning, Father.

Beller greeted her and then sat down next to Renilla.

"Good morning, my child. You don't look well." Viserys put down his knife and fork and looked at his eldest son with concern.

"I'm fine, Father. I just stayed up a little late reading yesterday."

Taking this opportunity, Baylor turned to Damon, who was eating bread, and asked, "Uncle, is there only one copy of that ancient book you gave me?"

Damon looked up, his gaze carrying a hint of scrutiny. "Of course not. Provided you can understand it?"

Baylor shook his head. "I just find some of the patterns on it interesting and want to see the whole thing at once."

Upon hearing this answer, Damon's lips unconsciously curled into a smile. "No problem. I'll have Raven tell the Sea Serpent to send a merchant ship to the Tomb of the King."
