Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons

Chapter 58 Say what you said one more time!

With that, he rode the dragon toward the Royal Navy's main warship.

"Commander, these are my subordinates. Please allow your fleet to pass."

The commander of the Royal Fleet bowed respectfully to the prince, then shook his head solemnly.

"I'm so sorry, Your Highness."

"To prevent spies from the free trade city-states from infiltrating, no unidentified ships are allowed to enter the seven kingdoms except for merchant ships from the major kingdoms."

This was an alternative plan devised by Viserys to prevent the war from becoming irreversible.

The prince understood that they were simply obeying the king's orders, so he didn't make a fuss.

"I personally guarantee the safety of these slaves, and I will take full responsibility if anything goes wrong. Please allow your fleet to pass."

This was the second time that Prince Baylor had patiently repeated himself, and he also told the commander that he, as the Crown Prince, would take responsibility if anything went wrong.

"Prince, please don't make things difficult for me."

"Moreover, these lowly slaves are not qualified to enter my Westeros continent."

Baylor laughed, his attitude immediately changing. "So you mean my guarantees are just as unreliable as these slaves', is that right?"

"That's not what I meant, Your Highness," the commander quickly explained.

Baylor had no intention of giving him that chance, nor did he have the patience to continue the conversation.

"You're from the Lu family, what's your relationship with Lord Bomond?"

"He is my cousin, the prince." The commander couldn't help but raise his head proudly.

With this identity as a guarantee, he believed that Prince Beller would back down.

"Very well, so you're just a branch of the Baratheon family."

"If I didn't know better, I would have thought you were the patriarch of House Baratheon."

Beller suddenly pulled on the reins, and the glutton immediately flew a distance higher.

Even if this commander was foolish, he could sense the prince's displeasure and sense of crisis.

"prince!"

"Dragon Flame".

The Glutton charged up, and its eerie green dragon flames cascaded down like a waterfall, instantly engulfing the entire warship.

"No!"

The commanders jumped into the sea, only to find that the dragon flames on their bodies could not be extinguished by the seawater, and they could only watch helplessly as they died in agony.

The soldiers on the warship were relatively lucky. They had already sensed the prince's displeasure and jumped into the sea before the dragon's flames descended, thus escaping disaster.

"Roar!"

Just as the glutton was about to gather his strength again, Baylor soothed him gently in Valyrian.

What he needs to do is deterrence; as long as the objective is achieved, there's no need to kill innocent soldiers.

Then, piloting the Glutton, he approached the secondary warship and coldly asked, "Who is the vice commander?"

"It's me, Prince!"

Another Baratheon vassal stumbled and knelt before the prince.

"Tell me, is my insurance coverage effective?"

"Of course, you are the crown prince of the seven kingdoms, the future king, and nothing is more trustworthy than your guarantee."

Having said that, he immediately ordered the other fleets to disperse, allowing Tyros's slave ships to enter Blackwater Bay.

"From now on, you are the commander of this Royal Fleet. Manage it well; I will need you in the future."

As the saying goes, "give a slap, then a piece of candy," Baylor doesn't want to be without a single capable person under his command in the future.

"Prince, I will never betray your trust and will serve you faithfully forever!"

The surprise was like a gift from heaven.

In the eyes of this vassal whose family was on the verge of decline, the prince's promise and trust were undoubtedly a sign of their family's resurgence.

"Not allegiance to me, but allegiance to the Targaryens," Baelor corrected.

"Yes, I will pledge my allegiance to House Targaryen!"

Having received a satisfactory answer, Baylor changed course and flew toward the three slave ships.

"Among you, is there anyone who has the skills to brew, build, farm, etc."

"Prince, before I became a slave, I learned the relevant skills from a stonemason."

"Prince, my family has been brewing wine for generations, and I still have the recipe with me!"

"Prince, I will..."

The slaves raised their hands and told Prince Beller about the professional skills they had learned.

Of course, a few slaves remained silent, heads bowed. They had been slaves for generations; they had no professional skills whatsoever, and simply surviving was the best outcome.

"Don't worry if you don't have any skills, I will find some professionals to teach you."

"From this day forward, you are the people protected by the Targaryen dynasty, not slaves to be slaughtered!" Baelor shouted, enunciating each word clearly.

"Long live the Dragon King!"

"Long live the liberators of slaves!"

"Long live House Targaryen!"

The slaves cheered loudly, gazing up at the silver-haired boy on the glutton's back.

He promised that they would live under the Dragon King's protection.

He promised to grant these people true freedom.

For this promise, they were willing to give everything, even their own lives.

"Follow me back to King's Landing!" Baelor shouted.

……

Baylor first settled the slaves near the Red Keep, ordering the guards to treat them well, and then quickly returned to Dragonstone to bring back Rhaenyra and her younger siblings.

"What are your plans for settling them in?"

Renilla never expected that Beller would actually bring all these slaves back.

Judging from the number of people gathered, there are at least two thousand. King's Landing can't possibly feed so many people.

"I was thinking of modifying the dragon's lair before, wasn't I?"

"Moreover, these slaves each have their own skills, and I can gather them together like stalls in a market, letting each of them perform their own duties."

Baylor had seen the map of King's Landing. In addition to the large population, there were countless homeless people and children. He had to find a way to settle them all.

Farming is a great option.

Baelor remembered that every year when the royal family waged war against the Kingdom of the Three Daughters and Dorne, they had to levy food and soldiers from those lords and dukes.

This is not a good habit.

Royal families should be self-reliant and strong, not like beggars who need to get what they want from others.

Of course, a preliminary meeting is necessary to implement all these ideas.

After a busy day, Baylor told his father Viserys about the idea after dinner.

"Baelor, your idea is excellent, and you have a long-term vision."

"The problem is that the kingdom doesn't have much food available right now."

Unfortunately, Westeros has been plagued by numerous natural disasters in recent years.

Not to mention, the support for the North, investment in construction, and various forms of trade have not yet yielded any effective returns.

Prince had already come up with an idea. "Father, I remember that before the war begins, we can gather lords from all over the country to donate food and soldiers."

Viserys immediately understood Baelor's idea. Upon reflection, he realized that the Targaryens were contributing money, manpower, and provisions to maintain trade along the border.

These dukes and lords, except for those whose family interests were affected, all showed indifference.

Viserys saw this as a golden opportunity and switched to the Valyrian language.

"My child, since you have put forward this idea, you must have already found a goal."

Baylor nodded. "Your intuition is quite correct, Father. I'm going to the old town."
