Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons
Chapter 88 The Prostitute from Valantis
When Renilla heard that her good uncle was going to be taken along, she was immediately relieved.
Putting everything else aside, in terms of combat prowess and intelligence, Damon is one of the best among the entire Targaryen.
With him protecting Beller, Renilla could sleep soundly until noon every day.
Damon didn't care; he had visited the Free Trade City more than once in his early years as a wandering prince.
Of course, his favorite was still Ries, because the prostitutes there were truly impressive in terms of technique.
"Now that you've made the decision, you must take care of your own safety."
"As for food, avoid eating if you can, so as not to fall into someone's trap." Rhaenys actually did not approve of Baylor and Damon's past.
They also possess the Faceless Ones, hailed as the strongest assassins, the Unsullied, the strongest infantry, and the most expensive poison, Tears of Rhys.
Some slave owners and nobles even had close ties with Ascha.
Rhaenys really didn't want what happened between her father, Prince Aemon, and Prince Belon to happen to Baelor and Damon.
"Auntie, don't worry."
"The Tangrians are currently at their strongest, and given the tragedy of Tyroth, I believe they will not dare to act rashly."
After all, the biggest motivation of slave owners and the wealthy is to extract more benefits from Dorne and the Targaryen family to enrich their own coffers.
As for how to win, they don't care.
Damon chuckled and said, "What's there to be afraid of?"
"Targaryen is all about daring to fight and facing unknown dangers."
"Otherwise, what kind of man would he be?"
Damon dared to be so arrogant partly because he relied on his travel experience and martial prowess.
On the other hand, as long as the dragon exists, it is futile to have any number of Unsullied and Faceless.
Baylor nodded. "I agree with Uncle's idea."
"Aunt, after we leave, please write a letter to remind the Reach and Highgarden to guard against Dorne on the border."
Seeing that the uncle and nephew had made up their minds, Rhine sighed softly and stopped trying to persuade them.
The sea serpent cautioned, "Your Highness, dragons can only intimidate, not effectively conquer or occupy cities."
This was telling Baylor that he would have to rely on soldiers to conquer the city.
Baylor, however, had a different idea: "Lord Sea Serpent, not all conquests require soldiers and dragons."
"Sometimes, surrendering without a fight is also a strategy."
After all, what Baelor wanted was conquest, to make Rhys, Myr, and Tyrosh serve the Targaryens, not a ruined city.
The sea serpent certainly knew that surrendering without a fight was the best outcome of the war.
But if the Bellerin succeeds, how will the Valerian family get a share when it comes time to reward those who have made contributions?
"Prince, I still think your idea is too naive. The slave owners and rich people of the Kingdom of Three Daughters are all extremely greedy bandits."
"They won't allow you to run rampant on their turf."
In other words, the sea serpent did not oppose Beller's idea, but still hoped that he would order the Valerian family's navy to conquer the Three Daughters Kingdom through traditional occupation.
Beller ignored the sea serpent and instead beckoned Renilla and another person to leave the tent, giving them some instructions.
Then, Baylor rode on the Glutton and left the Steps Islands with Damon.
Their destination was neither the criminally guilty Tyrosi, nor the resource-rich Rhys, but the distant Valantis.
"We currently only have a feud with the Kingdom of the Third Daughter; there's no need to drag another enemy into the battlefield."
Damon was worried that Baylor's active mind might lead him to some extreme ideas.
Secondly, the royal family and nobles had considerable trade relations with Valantis, and it would be unwise to rashly attack an ally who was not an enemy.
Beller explained, "I was not going to conquer Valantis; I was invited."
"The seal on this letter bears the coat of arms of our Tangrian family."
Damon frowned slightly, immediately thinking of a princess from the reign of King Inseong who was extremely troublesome.
"She's still alive?"
Baylor laughed. "How would I know things you don't even know?"
"I've never even seen what that person looks like, let alone whether they're alive or not."
Come to think of it, even if Princess Senira were alive, she would be an old woman in her sixties.
……
Valantis, Valisa town.
Just as Beller dismounted from the glutton's back, a woman with a face covered in silk but with long, distinctly golden-silver hair walked over, surprised yet timid.
"May I ask, are you Baelor Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone of House Targaryen?"
Baylor nodded. "Yes, it's Baylor Targaryen."
"May I ask who you are? And why are you using the Targaryen sigil to invite me to Volantis?"
The woman with long gold and silver hair did not remove the silk covering her face. Instead, she saw the three-headed dragon head worn on the other person's chest and then excitedly lifted the silk.
Kneeling earnestly before Baelor, she said, "Your Highness, I am Danora Targaryen, the eldest granddaughter of Princess Senira."
"I am writing to you in the name of my family crest to invite you to Volantis because I hope you will accept my lineage back into the Targaryen family."
Damon stared at her with a forced smile. "Hahaha, you went to Rhys to work as a prostitute, defiling the noble dragon bloodline of my Targaryen family."
"Now that they're old and know it's best to be buried, they've come looking for us?"
"What, are we Targaryens some kind of prestigious brothel, where you come and go as you please?"
Damon even suspected that the woman named Danola had the blood of a lowly slave flowing through her veins.
Making her submit to the family is not only smearing the Tangrians' reputation, but also slapping themselves in the face.
Daenerys remained remarkably calm. She had already inquired about the situation in Westeros and knew that the current King Viserys greatly trusted and favored Prince Baelor Targaryen.
There were even rumors that the king would agree to any suggestion made by the prince at a royal council meeting without hesitation.
This kind of trust, bordering on indulgence, is unprecedented in the history of the Targaryen family.
If they could persuade him, their lineage could successfully return to the Targaryen family, and perhaps even have the opportunity to come into contact with dragons.
Baylor smiled and helped Daniela up. "Tell me, is your grandmother still alive?"
Danila hummed in agreement and said in a sweet, coquettish voice, "Grandmother is getting old."
"Several times when I was sick, I said I wanted to go home, but I was too embarrassed to go back."
"Your Highness, I do not ask that you acknowledge us immediately. I only beg that, for the sake of my grandmother's old age, you allow her to return to Westeros and be buried on Dragonstone."
All I can say is that she truly lives up to her reputation as a woman who has spent years in Valantis; every word she utters is a trap.
If Baelor agrees to let Senella return to Westeros, it would be tantamount to accepting their lineage and returning them to House Targaryen.
