Game of Thrones: Dance of the Dragons

Chapter 94 Speaking Frankly, Helena

"Grandmother, do you think I'm right?"

Baylor turned to look at Senila, his expression clearly saying, "Don't be ungrateful."

Although the Targaryen family has a long tradition of endogamy, Baelor was not foolish enough to have a child with a prostitute and give birth to some so-called bastard.

Regardless of whether it will be of any help to Baylor, this trouble alone is enough to give him a headache for a long time.

Senira understood Baylor's meaning. Although she was furious, she still needed Baylor's help to restore her bloodline to the Targaryen family.

After weighing the pros and cons, Senila finally put on a benevolent elder's face and let Daenerys go to her niece Princess Rhaenys's Melias.

A few days later, the merchant ship made a temporary stop at the Steps Islands. To welcome the return of the Targaryen bloodline, the Sea Serpent and Rhaenyra specially arranged a lavish banquet.

Besides the main dishes of bread, grilled fish, lamb, and grain liquor, there were also desserts of lemon and apple cake, a table full of delicious food, all of which were specialties of Westeros.

"Princess Renilla, Lord Corliss, thank you so much." Senilla nodded slightly in thanks.

Renella smiled and said politely, "Great-aunt, what are you saying?"

"It is a great honor for the Targaryens that you are willing to return to the family. Please do not find the meal simple and ordinary."

The sea serpent chimed in, "Princess Senira, you must be tired from your journey. Please, you and your children, take seats on the left."

Princess Senira and her entourage drifted at sea for several days. Although they were served by servants and enjoyed delicious food, it was far less comfortable than being on land.

After a few brief and polite words, everyone took their seats on the left.

The welcome banquet then began.

Led by Baelor, the Targaryen family members took turns toasting Senilla and the others.

Senila also raised her glass and happily drank it all in one gulp. She was so excited to taste the lemon cake that she hadn't had in a long time that she almost burst into tears.

She remembers that when she was six years old and sick, her mother would always have the kitchen prepare lemon cake, which she would swallow along with her unpleasant-tasting medicine.

Now, things have changed.

It was also the first time that Daenerys and the others had tasted the delicacies and desserts of Westeros. After tasting them, they couldn't help but whisper and discuss them.

After a few rounds of drinks and half a meal,

Just when the atmosphere was joyful, inappropriate thoughts began to arise.

After observing at the banquet, Danila's mother became increasingly convinced that Baelor Targaryen was a man she could entrust her life to.

His dual identity as crown prince and dragon rider is only one aspect. More importantly, he lacks the madness of the Targaryen family and is extremely calm, decisive, and a master strategist.

Compared to his ancestors, even Aegon the Conqueror and Jaehaerys the Elder, he was a wise and capable ruler.

If he could get Danila to have a relationship with him, the status of Senila's lineage would naturally rise.

Even if they don't join the core of the royal family, they have at least taken the first step towards joining.

"Daniela, go and fill Prince Baelor's glass," she said softly.

Daenerys saw the greed in her mother's eyes and shook her head reluctantly. "Mother, the person sitting next to Prince Baelor is his fiancée, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, the eldest daughter of King Viserys."

Daenerys isn't stupid; King Viserys' decree simply stated that Princess Senera should return to the royal family.

As for these illegitimate children whose fathers are unknown, they don't even know if they will have a good life in the future.

Secondly, she only wanted to maintain her current stable life and didn't want to take any risks.

Danila's mother grabbed her arm and shouted, "I didn't tell you to seduce him, I just told you to politely offer him a toast!"

"Prince Bellor is a great benefactor to our lineage. Shouldn't you thank him?"

Danila sighed softly. Even though she was unwilling, her mother's words made sense.

Furthermore, the most effective way to ensure that the royal family remembers their lineage is to announce at a banquet, in front of everyone, that Princess Senira's lineage will never forget Prince Baylor's kindness!

With that thought in mind, Danila no longer hesitated. She straightened her clothes, filled her glass with grain liquor, and then smiled as she rose to walk to the head of the table.

"Are you going to become a mistress?"

Helena's voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for Aegon and Lannard beside her to hear clearly, and they both instinctively looked at Daenerys.

Danila smiled and said, "Princess, you misunderstand. I raised my glass simply to thank Prince Baylor for his kindness to our lineage."

"Without Prince Baelor, we would likely continue to tarnish the reputation of the Targaryen family."

It can only be said that this child, who grew up being looked down upon, speaks in a way that is truly beyond their reach.

Helena didn't care about any of that.

She is only ten years old now. In her mother's words, she is only ten years old this year and is just a little child!

"So what? Can't I express my gratitude from my own seat? Do I have to come all the way over to toast my brother?"

Helena's bluntness stripped away Danila's shame without reservation, completely blocking her way out.

Daniela remained frozen in place, unable to come up with a single word to smooth things over.

Upon hearing this, Aegon laughed so hard he almost spat out his wine. Rhaenyra and Lannard, being educated children, didn't laugh as obviously.

In contrast, the three elders at the table, though not as obviously as the children, had eyes full of teasing and scrutiny.

To paraphrase Damon: You whore who has slept with countless men, you should be grateful to the Seven for being a Targaryen's bastard.

Does he still want to climb up to the Crown Prince? Does he still want to return to the main line?

This is truly eye-opening, like a small knife pulling out a butt.

Baylor didn't speak immediately, but waited until he saw Senila's face getting darker and darker before gently tapping the table.

"Helena, how dare you speak to your great-aunt like that? Hurry back to your seat and eat your lemon cake!"

There was no punishment, no criticism, just being told to go back and eat. The favoritism couldn't be more obvious.

Damon sat in his seat, watching the scene with interest.

Baelor truly lives up to his title as the crown prince of the Targaryen family; he's crazy and biased enough, otherwise, how much of a force could he have become?

"Auntie, Helena is just a child. You can't take a child's words seriously," Damon chimed in, sipping his drink.

Renis's expression was also slightly displeased. Even if Senila was an elder, she couldn't put on such an attitude on the first day. What would people think if word got out?

Moreover, Beller will be her son-in-law in the future, and Helena will be her niece, so it's natural for the family to be biased.

Princess Senira showed no displeasure with each additional word they spoke; instead, she maintained the same smile throughout.

"The Crown Prince is right."

"Daniela, next time you offer a toast, do it from your seat. Don't lean over with your glass in front of others, or people will laugh at you!"
