Chapter 47 A Well-Deserved Honor

The three classes consisted of ten students, each sitting on a small stool in the aisle between their dormitory beds, and began filling in their names on paper.

Who to fill in is the problem!

The title of "Outstanding Individual" requires that everyone genuinely recognizes them and that they are the best-performing person in the class throughout the year.

The voting is conducted anonymously, so everyone can write whatever they want, including themselves, without worrying about offending anyone.

Without much thought, Jackie Chan wrote down two words without hesitation—

Shi Jin!

At the crucial point of transitioning from Level 3 to Level 4, any honor would be helpful to Shi Jin, even something as small as being recognized as an outstanding individual in his class.

Jackie Chan has received so many honors this year that he has become the most popular "celebrity" in the entire division.

I really don't want to compete for the title of "Class Outstanding Individual".

After the whole class finished filling out the forms, they folded the papers and had the class vice-captain Wu Liuyi collect them and hand them over to Shi Jin, who then counted the votes in front of the whole class.

Shi Jin seemed to have a premonition and did not directly count the votes according to procedure.

Instead, he turned his military cap upside down and placed it on the table, put all the ballots inside the cap pocket, and "secretly" opened them one by one to read them.

The result, however, left him completely stunned.

His eyes were full of surprise.

In previous years, when voting for outstanding individuals in the class, everyone always voted for Shi Jin, the class monitor who was kind to everyone and never beat, scolded, or physically punished anyone.

People will definitely vote for their favorites, and Shi Jin's kindness to everyone naturally earns him their affection.

But everyone likes it.

This does not mean that the person involved is willing.

It would be fine if it happened once or twice, but Shi Jin was really annoyed by having to vote for himself every time. He felt that the voting had lost its meaning.

Shi Jin thought this time would be the same as before, so he prepared to break the deadlock through a pre-arranged decision.

They skipped the vote counting process, pretended to look at the ballots, and then announced the person they had chosen to be the outstanding individual of Class Three.

Shi Jin originally intended to select Jackie Chan, believing that Jackie Chan was an indisputable advanced individual.

Moreover, Jackie Chan just gave up the honor of becoming the deputy class leader at the meeting, so giving him the title of advanced individual can be considered compensation.

Shi Jin had planned everything perfectly, but he never expected that no one would vote for him this time.

Nine of the votes were for Jackie Chan.

The last one was voted for by Shi Jin; you can probably guess who voted for it.

This caused Shi Jin a moment of disappointment, as she felt that her position in the class had been replaced, but this was quickly washed away by her heart full of relief and joy.

Shi Jin was not a narrow-minded person; he would rather his soldiers be better than him.

Now that everyone has unanimously chosen Jackie Chan, he no longer needs to lie and fake it. Shi Jin feels much more at ease and smiles exceptionally brightly.

Completely changing his previous depressed mood, he stood up happily and said to Wu Liuyi, "Squad leader, take notes, I'm starting to count the votes."

"It's all ready."

Wu Liuyi patted the notebook and pen on his chest and gestured to Shi Jin that they could begin at any time.

Okay, remember that.

Although Shi Jin already knew the answer, he still pretended to be quite convincing. He cleared his throat, took out the first vote from his hat, opened it, and said, "Jackie Chan, one vote."

"Okay."

Wu Liuyi glanced at Jackie Chan and was genuinely happy for him.

He quickly found Jackie Chan's name in the notebook and wrote a horizontal line after it.

All eight soldiers in the class, except for Jackie Chan, smiled when they heard Jackie Chan's name, as if they all regarded the vote as their own.

Xu Sanduo was the one who was laughing the happiest.

He grinned, revealing a mouthful of white teeth, and kept grinning foolishly at Jackie Chan. Although it was supposed to be a secret ballot, even a fool would know that he voted for Jackie Chan.

Only Jackie Chan remained calm, not caring who got to go first.

"Jackie Chan!"

Time sang out the second vote, and everyone's smiles widened even more.

"Jackie Chan!"

"Jackie Chan!"

……

The 3rd vote went to Jackie Chan, the 4th vote went to Jackie Chan, and so on until the 9th vote, all of which went to Jackie Chan.

With only one vote left, Shi Jin did not sing.

It's no longer necessary!

"Alright, the vote count is now over. Jackie Chan received nine votes, which is everyone's unanimous approval. This is what everyone expected and what he truly deserved. I hope he can continue to work hard and go even further. Let's give him a round of applause."

After Shi Jin finished speaking, he led the applause, and the others immediately followed suit.

Clapping sounds.

The sound was exceptionally loud.

Jackie Chan really didn't want this award, but since everyone was so supportive, he couldn't be coy and say he didn't want it.

Excessive humility is arrogance!

The best response is to stand up, straighten your back, and salute everyone to express your gratitude.

There was no thank-you speech or anything like that. Jackie Chan doesn't appreciate such high-sounding things. He and his younger brother Cheng Cai are completely different.

If it were Cheng Cai who won the Advanced Individual Award, he could talk about this for at least 5 minutes.

After the list of outstanding individuals was submitted, the clerk compiled it into a booklet and showed it to Company Commander Gao Cheng. Gao Cheng only cared about who the outstanding individuals in the 3rd Platoon were.

Seeing that Cheng Long was the outstanding individual in Class 3, Gao Cheng waved his hand with satisfaction and said, "Very good, that's settled, report it."

Jackie Chan is a prized asset of the division headquarters, so Gao Cheng must pay close attention to him.

With the list of outstanding individuals submitted, the annual exercise assessment has come to a complete end, and all companies have resumed their daily training.

The new recruits have been in their units for quite some time now, and they have basically completed all their training.

And it has been basically consolidated.

In the remaining time before becoming a private first class, the Steel Seventh Company shifted its training from regular all-weather training to a period of adjustment with half rest and half training.

The phase of fully mastering the learning process is over; the current focus is on addressing minor issues.

For example...

Xu Sanduo's motion sickness problem!

Despite nearly a year of training and hundreds of hours spent in vehicles, Xu Sanduo still gets carsick.

The only change is that I get carsick as soon as I get in the car and it starts moving.

Even with the upgrade to an infantry fighting vehicle, as long as it accelerates and stops suddenly, even at a slightly higher frequency for a short period of time, Xu Sanduo will still vomit profusely.

Infantry fighting vehicle assault operations inevitably involve acceleration and sudden stops; this is unavoidable.

If Xu Sanduo can't overcome this, it's a major problem.

Jackie Chan believed from the beginning that motion sickness was just a short-term discomfort in the body, and that he would definitely get used to it after sitting in a car for a long time.

I never imagined that Xu Sanduo's body was as stubborn as his dull mind.

Since I can't get used to riding in a car, I'll have to resort to drastic measures.

Jackie Chan originally wanted to build a tumbling frame, the kind that the Air Force uses to practice dizziness, and put Xu Sanduo in it to torture him severely.

If you just let him bump into it for an hour or two each day, I guarantee he'll be cured within a week.
