Soldiers' Assault: Veteran Special Agents and New Recruits

The engineering battalion does more than just build houses and roads; its core role is in wartime logistics construction, providing the troops with the strongest support.

Among them, the pontoon bridge unit is the most representative, capable of building a bridge over a river in a very short time.

The kind that can get past tanks!

Deputy Division Commander Wu eagerly ran to the engineering battalion and organized the first project to be shown to Deputy Commander Zhong: to quickly build a bridge several tens of meters long over the river to simulate building bridges over rivers during wartime.

Deputy Commander Zhong and his group stood on the riverbank and witnessed the entire bridge-building process.

"Commander, this is just the routine training subject of the pontoon bridge battalion of the engineering battalion. From the perspective of future warfare, the pontoon bridge battalion has mastered and applied modern equipment, which has been included in the routine training syllabus. It is fully capable of being mobilized, deployed, and deployed at a moment's notice."

Wu Yiwen, who was invited by Deputy Commander Zhong, took on the role of commentator for this training session.

"That's great, I'll go up and take a look now."

Deputy Commander Zhong wanted to walk across the bridge and experience the bridge that had been built so quickly.

"Commander, how about we eat first and then go?" Wu Yiwen suggested.

"It won't take long before you eat, even after you've finished watching."

Deputy Commander Zhong insisted on going up first, and after saying that, he stopped listening to Wu Yiwen and walked straight up.

Minister Wang and Wu Yiwen could only follow.

"The First Division's engineering battalion has been designated as an emergency mobile force for flood control and disaster relief across the entire army. The conflict between disaster relief missions and daily training is very prominent. How did you resolve this conflict?" Minister Wang asked.

"Captain, report to the commander." Wu Yiwen gave the order arrogantly.

"Yes."

The engineering battalion commander who had followed him stepped forward and reported to Deputy Commander Zhong: "All officers and soldiers of our battalion have firmly established the concept that danger is enemy activity, so that training and actual combat can be organically combined."

The engineering battalion commander's answer was very formulaic, which was also the least likely to make a mistake.

They won't be focusing on archers; their main strategy is stability.

"Turning conflict into motivation for training is indeed a good approach."

Deputy Commander Zhong's casual reply was also very formulaic, after all, the engineering battalion hadn't changed much, nor was there anything truly worth praising.

The inspection of the engineering battalion was considered complete after walking across the constructed bridge.

Subsequently, Deputy Commander Zhong rushed to the training ground of the artillery battalion. The Eighth Battalion was ready and sent a battalion to conduct live-fire training.

Seeing Deputy Commander Zhong running over, the battalion commander, who was already prepared, immediately ran over to report: "Reporting to the commander, the Second Battalion of the Ground Artillery Battalion is conducting live-fire exercises. Please give instructions. Squad Commander Li Daping."

"Please continue."

Deputy Commander Zhong returned the salute and gave the order.

The artillery battalion's training continued as usual. Deputy Commander Zhong and Minister Wang continued to advance along the training ground to observe the training of the land parcel battalion.

"Sir, the First Division's training is progressing very well; the situation is not as bad as reported," Minister Wang said.

"We can't draw conclusions too early."

Deputy Commander Zhong did not smile and continued walking forward with a blank expression.

After observing the artillery battalion's training, Deputy Commander Zhong chose to visit the information battalion, but deliberately did not notify them and quietly came over.

At this point, the construction of the E5W system by the Information Brigade had reached its most critical stage.

In order to gather all the programmers and PR VW331 together, everyone moved out of the lab and into a more spacious conference room.

When Deputy Commander Zhong, Minister Wang, and Wu Yiwen came over and sat down on the chairs by the field.

Jackie Chan, Long Xiaoyun, Jing Xiaoshu, and the others, who were focused on their work, did not notice anything amiss and were still busy with their own tasks.

"Long Xiaoyun, I heard that you've incorporated the Blue Army commander's personal hobbies, personality, and energy levels into the program?" Jackie Chan asked.

"This is what I asked Jing Xiaoshu and the others to do. In combat, the personal qualities and habits of the commander often play a very important role," Long Xiaoyun replied.

"Open it and let me see?" Jackie Chan said.

"Didn't you ask us to debug the E5W system? Why did you suddenly think of this?" Long Xiaoyun asked.

"The 'Crouching Tiger' operation is about to take place, and I heard that Deputy Commander Chung Yuan-nian will personally serve as the Blue Team's commander-in-chief. Knowing yourself and your enemy is the key to victory in every battle," Jackie Chan said with a smile.

Deputy Commander Zhong, who was drinking tea on the sidelines, gave a strange look when he heard Jackie Chan refer to him as a hypothetical enemy.

"Director Jing, retrieve Zhong Yuannian's information." Long Xiaoyun thought Jackie Chan's words made sense, so she gave the order.

"it is good."

Jing Xiaoshu readily agreed, her fingers flying across the keyboard, and she quickly retrieved the information.

"Look..."

Long Xiaoyun said to the information on the screen: "Zhong Yuannian has two main characteristics. First, he has a complex personality. He is kind but also cunning, humorous but also sarcastic, traditional but also modern, and mature but also childlike."

Jackie Chan laughed at the screen, saying, "He's both reasonable and unreasonable; it's quite interesting."

When Deputy Commander Zhong heard that the E5W system data described him in this way, the corners of his mouth turned up, and he finally smiled.

Wu Yiwen, however, remained expressionless with his eyes squinting, revealing what he was thinking.

"The second is diverse thinking."

Long Xiaoyun continued, "The ratio of abstract thinking to figurative thinking is six to four. It leans towards rationality, is good at sector-shaped thinking, and is even more adept at reverse thinking."

"That's right, so this person is inconsistent and often leaves people feeling unsure of what to do."

When Jackie Chan made this assessment, Vice Commander Chung could no longer sit still. He got up from his seat and strode over to Jackie Chan.

"What's the point of just studying him? If you're going to study someone, study the heavyweights."

Jing Xiaoshu muttered to himself as his hands moved rapidly across the keyboard. With each press of the Enter key, the person on the screen changed.

He went from being Deputy Commander-in-Chief to Confucius.

The original simulated battlefield situation map also changed as the commanders changed, fully demonstrating the influence of personality and behavior on warfare.

"That's really impressive. The battle situation changed immediately after the commander was changed," Long Xiaoyun exclaimed.

Without the brilliant mind of Jing Xiaoshu, the Information Brigade would never have been able to design such a highly intelligent war simulation and confrontation software.

"Interesting. In this way, it's as if we're fighting against the ancients." Jackie Chan laughed as well.

"Anything else?"

Jing Xiaoshu became increasingly smug and started playing with a different person, this time a foreigner.

"Hey, isn't this Montgomery? Even foreigners can input it? This thing is amazing, are there any others?" Jackie Chan asked expectantly.

"There are many, from ancient and modern times, from China and abroad, all kinds are available. Any one of them is much better than this Zhong Yuannian," Jing Xiaoshu said boastfully.

Deputy Commander Zhong listened for a long time, but not a single person said a kind word to him, which made him so angry that his eyebrows stood up.

Unable to hold back any longer, she interrupted, "Anyone you see is better than me? I doubt it."

Hearing the voice behind them, Jackie Chan, Long Xiaoyun, and Jing Xiaoshu quickly turned around and saw that it was Zhong Yuannian, who was teasing them. They realized that they had gotten into trouble.

He quickly straightened his back and greeted, "Greetings, Commander."

Jing Xiaoshu didn't know who the person in front of him was, and he didn't know much about military ranks, so he wasn't that nervous. He just looked at the person with curiosity.

"Why are you all so nervous? Didn't you say you didn't take me seriously?" Deputy Commander Zhong retorted.

"No, no, we just..."

Long Xiaoyun wanted to explain further, but was interrupted by Deputy Commander Zhong, who said, "Alright, since you think I'm easy to deal with, let's settle this online and have a simulation."

I'm the Blue Team, you're the Red Team, let's see who comes out on top.

After being belittled by his subordinates for a while, Deputy Commander Zhong's competitive spirit was fully ignited, and he immediately ordered, "Minister Wang, you will be the referee."

"Yes."

Minister Wang responded.

Since the leader wanted to play a game of confrontation, Jackie Chan naturally had to play along. As a formality for the start of the confrontation, Jackie Chan extended his right hand.

However, Deputy Commander Zhong did not extend his hand, and left with the words, "I only shake hands with the victor."

Jackie Chan had no choice but to awkwardly back down.

Long Xiaoyun, quick-witted and agile, immediately interjected to defuse the awkward situation on Jackie Chan's side, saying, "Commander, the Blue Army's confrontation zone is over there. Director Jing, why don't you go and teach the commander how to use the confrontation software?"

"Okay, okay."

Jing Xiaoshu sensed something was off and became awkward. She quickly ran to the computer next door and called out to Deputy Commander Zhong, "Commander, please sit here."

After Deputy Commander Zhong came over and sat down in front of the computer, Jing Xiaoshu began to teach him step by step.

"This is the shortcut key to activate weapons..."

The software was very easy to use, and Jing Xiaoshu quickly taught Deputy Commander Zhong how to use it.

"Young man, how many years have you been in the army?" Deputy Commander Zhong asked casually.

"Commander, this is a difficult question for me to answer," Jing Xiaoshu said, scratching his head awkwardly.

"What do you mean?" Deputy Commander Zhong was surprised and stared at Jing Xiaoshu in astonishment.

"Because my length of service cannot be calculated by year, or even by month, to be precise, it can only be calculated by day," Jing Xiaoshu replied.

"Oh."

Deputy Commander Zhong chuckled and said, "Alright then, how many heavenly soldiers have you served as?"

"I can't say that either, because my length of service, like a woman's age, is a secret," Jing Xiaoshu said mysteriously.

"You've confused me. What's going on?" Deputy Commander Zhong said with a smile.

"Captain Long hopes I'll remain hidden away, unknown to anyone," Jing Xiaoshu chuckled.

Deputy Commander Zhong's expression suddenly turned serious, and he formally asked, "What's your surname?"

"The scene is not good."

"Jing Xiaoshu".

Before Jing Xiaoshu could finish speaking, Deputy Commander Zhong interrupted.

"Yeah, that's right. It seems I'm somewhat well-known. Even you, Chief, know me," Jing Xiaoshu said in surprise.

"Haha, you're more than just famous."

Deputy Commander Zhong burst into laughter and began operating the weapons on the computer, launching an attack on the Red Army.

The simulation between the red and blue teams has officially begun!

On the other hand, Jackie Chan, thinking of confronting Vice Commander Chung, had no intention of yielding; on the contrary, his competitive spirit was completely aroused.

He stared intently at the screen and said, "Give me the analysis parameters for this missile."

"Yes."

Upon receiving the order, Long Xiaoyun issued commands on the computer and quickly retrieved the data.

"Is this the result obtained through comparative analysis and calculation?" Jackie Chan asked.

"Yes, we have already stored the combat examples of tactical missiles in recent years, the best handling methods, and possible scenarios in the E5W system analysis center for processing. Currently, we have been tracking the entire process and conducting comprehensive analysis since the radar detected this missile..."

While Long Xiaoyun was conducting her professional analysis, Deputy Commander Zhong was losing his composure.

Seeing their missiles fired but receiving no reaction, the Red Army soldiers couldn't help but stand up and ask, "Why isn't Jackie Chan making a sound?"

"Sir, judging from the exercise monitoring system, it's possible that they didn't understand the purpose of the Blue Army's first strike, and they probably wouldn't dare to act rashly," Minister Wang speculated.

"If it's really what you're saying, then Jackie Chan and the others are right."

Deputy Commander Zhong put his mind to work and used his expertise in military theory to deduce: "If he focuses his attention on the defense of position number nine, then I may be able to grasp the movement direction of his motorized infantry battalion and tank regiment."

But if he chooses not to move, then there's really nothing I can do about it.

While Deputy Commander Zhong was conducting his analysis, Jackie Chan had already issued the order: "Abandon Position 9. Missile Brigade's surface-to-air missile battalion, intercept the enemy bomber group at sea 100 kilometers away."

"Why abandon position number nine?" Long Xiaoyun couldn't understand Jackie Chan's tactics.

"Position No. 9 is not our main defensive position. The enemy's attack on our Position No. 9 first must have ulterior motives. In the absence of clear information about the enemy's actions, it would be more advantageous for us to abandon it and observe how things develop," Jackie Chan replied.

"He's got his eye on my bomber fleet."

Deputy Commander Chung didn't rise to his position by chance; he had ample experience and theoretical knowledge, and he quickly realized that Jackie Chan was going to bomb his bomber.

Based on this situation, further deployment was made, and the order was given: "That's good, let's draw all his attention to the sea surface, I'll proceed according to the pre-arranged plan."

Although he was new to this simulation combat software, Deputy Commander Zhong learned it quite quickly.

She could operate it smoothly on her own without Jing Xiaoshu's help.

Soon, the computer speakers announced: "Surface-to-air missile interception successful. Three enemy bombers were shot down, and the rest returned along the same route."

Jackie Chan was very satisfied with the result and asked Long Xiaoyun, who was doing the analysis, "Have the analysis results come out yet?"

"They're out."

Long Xiaoyun, holding the printed results, returned to Jackie Chan's side and said, "Reporting to the commander, the information analysis center's calculations show that the enemy bomber group's actions were also a feint attack."

Meanwhile, the two motorized infantry battalions and one armored battalion moving on the flanks of position number seven could potentially encircle our forces.

Based on comprehensive analysis, it is believed that: First, the enemy intends to annihilate our 1st Motorized Infantry Regiment and occupy Position No. 7.

Position 2, number 7, is 7.2 kilometers from the coast and may be in preparation for a sea landing.
