Soldiers' Assault: Veteran Special Agents and New Recruits

Chapter 61 features a memorable scene!

The person happiest about Xu Sanduo's outstanding performance in the assessment was actually Shi Jin.

He not only promised Xu Sanduo's father, Xu Baishun, when he brought Xu Sanduo out, that he would definitely make Xu Sanduo successful in the army.

In order to keep Xu Sanduo in the Steel Seventh Company, he promised Company Commander Gao Cheng that he would bring Xu Sanduo out.

Now that Xu Sanduo has finally made it through, Shi Jin couldn't contain his joy and excitement and had to have a chat with Company Commander Gao Cheng.

So, no sooner had Gao Cheng seen off the group leaders than Shi Jin arrived with a beaming smile.

"What are you laughing at? You're acting like a lunatic," Gao Cheng said casually.

"Is he handsome?" Shi Jin asked with a smile.

"Oh, so you did it for him."

As Gao Cheng walked towards the officers' building, he said, "His memory is passable, but what good is it? Can he memorize a book and knock the enemy down?"

"Hmph, if it were really useful, what would we need guns for? Everyone could just carry a computer up there and practice their Wubi input method against the enemy."

Gao Cheng was actually quite happy, but he just didn't want to admit it.

He used to despise Xu Sanduo, so if he were to praise Xu Sanduo in front of Shi Jin now, wouldn't that be like slapping himself in the face?

Shi Jin didn't care whether Gao Cheng cared about saving face; he just wanted Gao Cheng to admit it.

Xu Sanduo can be trained.

So he continued, "His shooting scores have improved, reaching the company standard, and he hasn't made any minor mistakes lately..."

"Okay, okay, stop talking."

Gao Cheng was getting fed up with Shi Jin's persistence, and since he had genuinely come to respect Xu Sanduo to some extent, he pretended to be very impatient and said, "I lost, okay? You wanted to hear that, so here you are."

"Company Commander, I just want you to admit this once: Xu Sanduo really works hard," Shi Jin said with a smile.

"What's the use of hard work? No matter how hard you talk, he's still at the bottom of Class 3. Class 3 used to be the best, but look at what it's become now. How long has it been since your class was recognized as an advanced class? Don't you know?"

Gao Cheng unleashed a barrage of attacks, culminating in a royal flush.

He then complained, "Armored infantry, we are armored infantry, we are inseparable from vehicles, but he still gets carsick. Have you ever seen an armored infantryman who gets carsick?"

Every time I see that dazed look on his face when he gets out of the car, I feel like kicking him.

After finishing his work at Gaocheng, he quickened his pace to head up to the cadre building.

"No, Company Commander, wait."

Shi Jin quickly went around to the front and spread his hands to block the view, explaining with a smile, "Company Commander, your information is outdated. Xu Sanduo doesn't get carsick anymore."

Not only does he not get carsick, but he's also become incredibly good at abdominal pole vaults; he can do 70 in one go.

"70??"

Gao Cheng's eyes widened in surprise.

His face was practically screaming "You're a liar!"

"It's true, it really can be done," Shi Jin assured, patting his chest.

"hehe."

Gao Cheng showed no mercy, sneering, "If he can do 70, I'll immediately give your class the title of 'Advanced Class Collective' this month back."

"real?"

Shi Jin was so excited that his face turned red.

"I'll still cook. If I can, I will; if I can't, then forget it. Don't stop me. I need to go back and rest." Gao Cheng didn't believe him at all, so naturally he had no expectations.

"Wait, wait, just a moment."

Shi Jin was so excited that he shouted at the top of his lungs while holding Gao Cheng, "Xu Sanduo, Xu Sanduo, come here!"

The dormitory building is to the left of the cadre building, and the distance between them is less than 10 meters.

Jackie Chan, who had already changed into his short-sleeved workout clothes and was about to go out to lift weights, happened to hear this at the door. He turned around and shouted into the classroom, "San Duo, come out quickly, the class monitor is calling you downstairs in the cadre building."

"Here!"

Xu Sanduo quickly stood up and responded loudly. Then, while putting on his hat and belt, he ran downstairs to the officers' quarters, saluted the two men, and shouted, "Good morning, Company Commander! Good morning, Squad Leader!"

"Xu Sanduo, come on, tell the company commander how many abdominal pull-ups you can do now," Shi Jin urged.

Xu Sanduo scratched his head and said with a silly grin, "When no one is watching, I can only do a maximum of 62. When someone is watching, I feel a bit embarrassed and can only do less than 40."

"Then make 100 right away," Shi Jin loudly ordered.

"100? Who are they?" Xu Sanduo asked belatedly.

The reason I say he's dull is because he just stays here.

Many things that normal people know without even thinking about are beyond Xu Sanduo's comprehension, which can be quite frustrating at times.

"You? Who else can compare?" Shi Jin said, exasperated.

"Me? I can't do that, at most I can..."

"You can do it, you're capable of it."

Shi Jin interrupted Xu Sanduo and shouted, "The company commander promised that if you do 100, he will return the title of advanced collective to our class."

"Really?"

Xu Sanduo's eyes lit up immediately.

He knew perfectly well how Class 3 had lost its title as an advanced class collective, no matter how clueless he was. Now that he could take it back with his own hands, how could he not be moved?

"Yes, it must be true." Shi Jinkuang nodded.

Xu Sanduo, usually so dull-witted, suddenly became clever. He looked at Gao Cheng and asked hopefully, "Company Commander, is it true?"

By this time, Gao Cheng had already realized that something was wrong.

He personally witnessed Jackie Chan teaching Xu Sanduo, and he didn't know what Jackie Chan used, but in less than an hour, he taught the simple-minded Xu Sanduo how to do abdominal barbell exercises.

With such a good teacher, Xu Sanduo might actually be able to do 100.

But as the company commander, he had to save face. If he let them out, they couldn't be as useless as a fart. So he had no choice but to grit his teeth and accept it.

He tilted his head 45 degrees to look at the sky, and said to Xu Sanduo with his nostrils flared, "Yes, that's right, I said it."

Upon receiving confirmation from Company Commander Gao Cheng, a bright smile burst forth on Xu Sanduo's face, and he dashed off towards the equipment training ground behind the dormitory.

Shi Jin just shouted loudly in the camp, alarming the entire company.

Everyone overheard the conversation between the company commander and Xu Sanduo.

The bet between Xu Sanduo, the worst soldier of the year, and Company Commander Gao Cheng is a huge scandal that has piqued everyone's interest.

They rushed out of their dormitories, forming a large group of dozens of people and heading straight for the equipment field.

"Xu Sanduo's most glorious moment, which is also the most widely known scene in Soldiers Sortie, is here. I was fortunate enough to witness it in person. I have to go there myself."

Jackie Chan was originally planning to go to the weightlifting gym, but he decided to go along and witness the famous scene.

Company Commander Gao Cheng originally didn't want to go, but he couldn't resist Shi Jin's persistent pestering and dragging, so he had no choice but to follow him to the edge of the equipment field.

He took out a pack of Hongtashan cigarettes, put one in his mouth, and waited idly while smoking.
