Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!

Chapter 15 is ridiculous. Why are you dragging me into your argument?

Shengjiang Group is very efficient. Wen Li officially joined the investment department right after the National Day holiday.

Three weeks later, Wen Li, as the leader of Group A, led and assisted her colleagues in being responsible for small and medium-sized projects.

In mid-November, she finally received a large-scale cross-border logistics park project.

Wen Li began spending all her time in the office, arriving earliest and leaving latest every day. Her workstation was piled high with thick reports, financial statements, and industry analysis reports, and her computer screen often stayed lit until the early hours of the morning.

For two consecutive weeks, Wen Li repeatedly analyzed market trends and operational logic, and made multiple on-site investigations to accurately calculate every piece of data.

In early December, she submitted a detailed due diligence report.

At the department meeting on Thursday, Director Lu Qi laughed out loud after reading the report submitted by Wen Li, praising it loudly: "This report is much better than the one Gong Shangshang made."

Upon hearing this, Wen Li immediately felt suspicious. Although she and Gong Shangshang were both team leaders, the projects they were responsible for were not the same. Why would the director deliberately compare them?

As he spoke, Lu Qi looked up at Wen Li, his eyes filled with obvious affirmation: "Wen Li, you did a good job. Keep it up. With your abilities, you should be able to get promoted to manager next year. Keep up the good work."

Upon hearing this, Gong Shangshang, who was sitting at the end of the conference table, instantly turned grim. Lu Qi had clearly said before that he would make her the department manager next year.

Wen Li smiled and said, "Thank you, Director Lu."

Lu Qi nodded: "Follow-up work should also be done well."

As he spoke, he put the report in his hand aside and looked directly at Gong Shangshang, asking, "Tomorrow is our department's team building day. Everyone, please feel free to share your thoughts."

Everyone discussed it animatedly, and finally decided to hold the team building activity at a hot spring resort by Yanqi Lake.

The villa is built halfway up the mountain, with gray tiles and white walls scattered among the layers of desolate trees. The mountain wind in the deep winter blows in from the valley entrance, and the cold is biting.

The team building activities were arranged very loosely, with free time in the morning and a dinner and games in the afternoon.

After putting away her luggage, Wen Li went downstairs to the courtyard to meet her colleagues. Just as she turned the corner of the corridor, she saw Liang Chaoxu walking towards her.

Two months had passed since I last saw him, and his features seemed even more aloof, with an even stronger aura that kept people at a distance.

Wen Li glanced at the large group of people following him. He quickly moved to a nearby pillar to clear the way in the corridor.

Liang Chaoxu had already seen Wen Li, and when his gaze fell on her, he noticed that she was thinner than she had been two months ago.

As he walked up to her, Liang Chaoxu suddenly stopped in his tracks: "Is your company having a team-building event here?"

The people around him also stopped, looking at Wen Li with curiosity, their eyes subtly scrutinizing her from head to toe.

Wen Li looked up at him, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes. She had thought he would ignore her. After all, the two of them had been acting a little awkwardly ever since leaving the Yuhe Mansion.

"It's a departmental team building activity," Wen Li said briefly.

Liang Chaoxu noticed the faint dark circles under her eyes and instinctively asked with concern, "Are you very busy with work?"

Upon hearing this, the people around them became even more curious about the relationship between the two, and they began to exchange glances discreetly.

Seeing this, Wen Li sighed inwardly. Sure enough, no one would easily let go of even the slightest disturbance in the workplace. She was also secretly glad that she hadn't gone to Jingyue.

She shook her head: "Not busy."

After saying that, Wen Li was about to leave.

"President Liang!" Lu Qi came downstairs and saw Liang Chaoxu. His face immediately lit up with a smile, and he jogged over: "If I had known you were coming to the resort today, I would have come ahead to greet you."

As he spoke, Lu Qi's cunning gaze swept quickly between Liang Chaoxu and Wen Li.

Liang Chaoxu turned to look at Lu Qi, his face blank, clearly not recognizing him.

Lu Qi showed no embarrassment, then turned to Wen Li and tentatively asked, "Wen Li, do you know President Liang?"

Liang Chaoxu's gaze returned to Wen Li's face; he too wanted to know the answer.

She seems determined to cut ties with him over the past two months.

He messaged her to ask how she was doing, and she would only reply with one or two words each time, as if afraid to say more than a word. She was a completely different person from when she patiently replied to Jiang You's messages downstairs at the hotel.

Sure enough, the next second Liang Chaoxu heard Wen Li's cold and ruthless voice: "Don't know her."

Lu Qi looked a little embarrassed and turned to Liang Chaoxu to talk about the project: "Mr. Liang, about that resort project last time..."

Liang Chaoxu quickly averted his gaze from Wen Li, and said in a cold tone, "I'm not talking about work today."

After saying that, he turned and walked towards the other end of the corridor. The group of people behind him followed closely behind, their footsteps gradually fading into the distance.

Lu Qi stood there watching for a while before turning to Wen Li, putting his hand on her shoulder: "You really don't know President Liang? Then why did he stop just now?"

Wen Li took a step to the side, avoiding his hand: "I dropped my keys, and he just picked them up for me." As she spoke, she took the keys out of her pocket and waved them in front of Lu Qi to distract him.

"Alright." Lu Qi's face showed disappointment. "I was originally thinking that if you knew President Liang, I would let you be in charge of the resort project we're cooperating on with Jingyue Group."

Wen Li forced a smile: "You should find someone else for the director."

"Forget it, let's talk about this another day." Lu Qi said, and then reached out to put his arm around Wen Li's shoulder.

Wen Li deftly dodged the question: "Director, you go first. I'll make a call to the client."

A meaningful smile flashed across Lu Qi's eyes before he left.

Wen Li watched the people gradually walk away before slowly taking her steps to catch up. It was only on her way to the resort today that she heard from other colleagues that Lu Qi and Gong Shangshang were actually secretly dating.

It seems the two of them had a fight recently, so they deliberately got close to other men at work in order to provoke each other.

Wen Li stared at Lu Qi in front of her and rolled her eyes. What's wrong with you guys? Why are you dragging me into your argument?!

When we had dinner in the evening, everyone moved from outdoors into the banquet hall of the resort.

The lights were warm and yellow, and the long table was set with exquisite dishes, wines, and drinks.

Wen Li sat in the middle of the long table, surrounded by several colleagues from her group. They were all chatting quietly about work and year-end performance reviews.

Amidst the clinking of glasses, the resort's waiters would refill everyone's drinks from time to time.

Wen Li only drank fruit juice throughout the entire process.

As the dinner was drawing to a close, everyone left the table and agreed to go to the card room for a game.

Wen Li also stood up, but after taking only a couple of steps, her legs suddenly gave way and she almost knelt down.

Fortunately, her colleagues caught her in time: "Team Leader Wen, are you alright?"

With the help of her colleagues, Wen Li stood up and shook her head: "My legs probably went numb from sitting for too long."

"Let's go then," the colleague said, releasing Wen Li.

"Okay." Wen Li followed again, but her knees felt weaker and weaker as she walked.

She reached out and grabbed the edge of the table beside her, stopping to catch her breath. Her colleagues were all heading towards the card room, and no one noticed anything unusual about her.

"Never mind, I'll go back to my room." With that thought, Wen Li quickly left the banquet hall and walked along the corridor towards her room.

The corridor was so long that it seemed to have no end.

The overhead light distorted and swayed. Wen Li slid down to the ground, leaning against the wall, her body limp and her voice weak.

"Miss Wen?"

Wen Li turned her head and saw a person wearing a villa waiter's uniform slowly walking towards her not far away.

She was about to respond when she suddenly realized how he knew her last name.

Realizing something was wrong, Wen Li struggled to stand up, but failed.

"Wen Li?"

When the waiter saw someone coming from the other end of the corridor, he quickly turned and ran away.

Liang Chaoxu noticed that Wen Li was not in a good mood, so he quickly walked over, squatted down, and held her shoulder, asking, "What's wrong?"

Wen Li clutched his sleeve, her voice hoarse: "I ate something I shouldn't have...eaten."
