Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!

Chapter 48: How can it not be considered a New Year's Eve vigil?

Liang Chaoxu hung up the phone and turned back to Wen Li's side.

"Let's go back and pack our things, then head back to Jingzhou."

Wen Li nodded, got up, and followed him out of the hospital.

Back in the dormitory, Liang Chaoxu took the scarf that Wen Li had taken off and said, "Go and rest after you wash up. I'll pack my things. We'll leave first thing tomorrow morning."

Wen Li: "You go back to the hotel. I'll take a shower and get ready in a bit."

"I didn't book a hotel." Liang Chaoxu took off his coat, hung it on the hanger, rolled up the sleeves to his forearms, and started packing his things.

Wen Li knew she couldn't persuade him otherwise, so she didn't say anything more and went straight back to the bedroom in the adjacent room to find her pajamas.

One of them was tidying up in the living room, while the other was washing up in the bathroom. The only sounds in the house were the running water and the dragging of cardboard boxes.

When Wen Li finished drying her hair and came out, she looked at the time and it was already midnight.

Rounding down, the two of them could be considered to have stayed up all night together.

She looked up at Liang Chaoxu, who was bending over adjusting the position of the cardboard box, and asked, "Are you taking a shower tonight?"

Liang Chaoxu stopped what he was doing, straightened up, turned to look at her, and said seriously, "You're injured, so you can't do strenuous exercise."

"..."

Wen Li closed her eyes and sighed speechlessly, "What I mean is, if you're going to take a shower, I'll find you a change of pajamas."

Liang Chaoxu pursed his lips and nodded somewhat awkwardly: "Wash."

Wen Li nodded and then went into the bedroom to find him pajamas.

A moment later, she came out of the bedroom, carrying a light purple bathrobe and handed it to her: "This will have to do."

Liang Chaoxu took it, glanced at it, said nothing, and turned to go into the bathroom.

The sound of rushing water lasted for more than ten minutes.

Wen Li was curled up on the sofa scrolling through her phone. Her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and with the warmth of the heater, she fell asleep on the sofa without even realizing it.

After Liang Chaoxu finished washing up, he realized he couldn't put on the bathrobe. He couldn't even get the sleeves in, and his shoulders couldn't be stretched out. So he simply tied the belt around his waist to cover his lower body, leaving his upper body almost entirely exposed.

He walked into the living room while drying his hair and saw that Wen Li was already curled up asleep on the sofa, her face turned to the side of the cushion, her breathing even and long, and the bruise on the bridge of her nose was particularly noticeable under the light.

He put down the towel, tiptoed over, bent down and scooped the person up from the sofa.

Wen Li was awakened by the sudden movement. She opened her eyes groggily and saw his muscular chest and Adam's apple still glistening with water. She paused for a moment, then asked sleepily, "Are you done washing?"

"Mmm." Liang Chaoxu carried her towards the bedroom. "Let's go to sleep."

"Put me down," Wen Li patted his arm. "I'll sleep on the sofa, you sleep on the bed."

Liang Chaoxu didn't stop, and put her directly on the bed: "I'll make do for one night."

Wen Li propped herself up on the edge of the bed, her eyes barely open from sleep, but she still stubbornly said, "You're over 1.8 meters tall, your back must be sore from sitting on the sofa like that. You sleep on the bed, I'll sleep on the sofa."

Liang Chaoxu stood by the bed, his bathrobe loosely tied around his waist. He looked down at her for two seconds, then lowered his voice: "Then we'll both sleep on the bed. You sleep on the left, I'll sleep on the right, and we won't be next to each other."

Wen Li looked up at him. The room was quiet, and the intermittent sounds of firecrackers outside the window had faded into the distance.

She stopped arguing, lifted the covers and moved to the left, turning her back to him and shrinking into the covers, leaving most of the bed open.

Liang Chaoxu stood by the bed for a while, making sure she didn't object, before lying down on his right side. The mattress sank slightly before settling back down, and the two of them remained a good distance apart, neither of them speaking.

After a long time, Wen Li's breathing became long and even.

Liang Chaoxu turned his head to the side, and in the light of the streetlight filtering through the curtains, looked at her silhouette with her back to him for a few seconds before looking away, lying flat and closing his eyes.

That night, no one crossed the line; they simply slept quietly on one bed, each occupying one side, with enough space in the middle for another person to lie down.

The next morning, Liang Chaoxu got up quietly, stacked the cardboard boxes in the living room to the door, then went back inside to pick up his phone and send a message.

In less than twenty minutes, a black minivan pulled up smoothly downstairs. The driver went upstairs and carried the cardboard boxes from the doorway down one by one, stacking them all into the trunk.

Liang Chaoxu stood at the door watching the last move finish, making sure nothing was left behind, before turning back into the house.

Wen Li was still asleep, wrapped tightly in the blanket, curled up in a ball. He stood by the bed for a couple of seconds, then bent down and patted her shoulder: "Get up, the car is already downstairs."

Wen Li groggily turned over, frowned, and opened her eyes to see that he was already dressed and standing by the bed, his hair was also tidied, and he didn't look like he had just woken up at all.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up. Looking into the living room, she saw that all the cardboard boxes that had been piled up in the corner yesterday were gone, and the floor was empty.

"Where's the box?" Her voice was still hoarse from just waking up.

"The truck is being moved." Liang Chaoxu turned and walked out of the bedroom.

When the two locked the door and went downstairs, the driver had already opened the back door and was waiting.

Wen Li bent down and sat down. The leather seats were slightly cool, and there was a faint woody scent in the car.

The streets were deserted on the first day of the Lunar New Year. The entire city of Yongqing was as quiet as if it hadn't woken up yet. The car smoothly drove out of the alley and headed towards the highway exit.

Wen Li leaned against the window in silence the whole way. She had been up until midnight last night and had gotten up early, so she was feeling sleepy in waves. She didn't know when she had fallen asleep with her head tilted to the side.

When I woke up again, the car had already exited the highway, and outside the window were neatly trimmed holly bushes. The car drove along the path and eventually stopped in front of a few gray and white buildings.

Wen Li sat up straight and looked around through the car window. The buildings were not tall, hidden behind old trees, and there were no signs at the entrance.

Liang Chaoxu had already gotten out of the car. He walked around to her side and opened the car door: "Get out."

Wen Li wasn't fully awake yet. After getting out of the car, she looked at him and asked, "Where am I?"

"My private sanatorium." Liang Chaoxu closed the door. "Your nose needs to be taken good care of. There are dedicated doctors and nutritionists here to take good care of you."

Wen Li opened her mouth as if to say it wasn't that serious, but after being glanced at by him, she swallowed the words back down.

Liang Chaoxu didn't reply, but walked straight through the door, turned back and gestured with his chin towards her: "Come in, everything is arranged."

Upon entering, a doctor with half-gray hair and gold-rimmed glasses greeted Wen Li and led her to the room in a gentle manner.

The room was clean and bright, and a small garden could be seen outside the window. The branches of the trees were bare in winter, letting in a clear sunlight.

The nurses had already prepared a change of clothes and toiletries, all neatly arranged.

Wen Li sat down on the sofa, touched the newly applied medicine on the bridge of her nose, and couldn't quite describe the feeling in her heart.

Liang Chaoxu stood at the door, not coming in. He watched as the nurse put away the thermometer and pills before speaking: "Take your medicine on time, don't be lazy. If you need anything, just tell the nurse, or call me."

Wen Li turned her head to look at him: "Okay."

Liang Chaoxu paused for a moment, then added, "I have some things to take care of at home, I'll come back later."
