Mr. Liang, you mustn't covet other people's fiancées!

Chapter 60 Do you still think that way now?

Song Yu walked over, annoyed. "Uncle, I'll go in and try."

Liang Chaoxu looked up at him, but didn't move or step aside: "In what capacity are you going in? The perpetrator or your ex-fiancé?"

Song Yu's lips moved slightly: "I just wanted to check if she was alright."

"Whether she's alright or not is none of your business." Liang Chaoxu's voice wasn't loud, but in the quiet corridor, every word was clearly uttered.

"When you locked her in the cold storage, did you even consider whether she was alright? Now you're standing at the ward door saying you want to see her—don't you find that ridiculous?"

Song Yu's expression changed several times: "Uncle, the reason I did this is all because you forced me to! You kicked me out of the Liang family and expelled me from Jingyue. I have nothing left. What can I do?"

"You have nothing left, so you want to drag her down with you?" Liang Chaoxu looked at him.

"When you cheated on me, did Wen Li force you? When you were seeing Han Mingzhu, did Wen Li make you go?"

"Now you're saying it was all my fault, Song Yu? Are you a three-year-old? You think you can just kill someone because they force you, or jump off a building because they force you?"

Song Yu's voice suddenly rose: "And what about you? Why have you always protected her? You've done so much for her, but what was your role and purpose? What gives you the right to lecture me on her behalf?"

After a few seconds of silence, Liang Chaoxu looked up at Song Yu and said, "There's no point in you standing here arguing with me about this. If you really feel guilty, then don't show your face in front of her again."

Song Yu stood there, his lips moving repeatedly, but in the end he said nothing. He glanced at Liang Chaoxu, then at the closed ward door, and turned to walk towards the elevator.

He took a few steps, then stopped and turned back: "Uncle, no matter how good you are to her, it's no use. She won't choose you. Her heart is harder than anyone else's; you can never warm it."

Liang Chaoxu did not respond.

The elevator doors opened and closed, and the corridor fell silent again.

Meng Shu walked to the bench and sat down, saying softly, "He's gone. You've had a busy day too, sit down for a while."

Liang Chaoxu didn't look at her or move: "No need, you can go back. There's no point in having so many people here."

Meng Shu hesitated for a long time before speaking in a softer voice than usual: "Liang Chaoxu, your feelings for Wen Li... are they real?"

Liang Chaoxu didn't turn to look at her; his gaze fell on Wen Li's blurry outline reflected in the glass of the ward door. "Yes."

"So, you rejected me back then because of her?" Meng Shu asked again.

Liang Chaoxu sighed: "It wasn't the first time, but it was the second time."

Meng Shu stood there stunned for a long time before getting up and leaving in a daze.

Tian Miao pushed open the door, her eyes red-rimmed: "She's not moving at all. I've talked to her so much, but she hasn't responded at all. Mr. Liang, Wen Youyou... she wouldn't..."

"No," Liang Chaoxu interrupted her. "You're tired too, go and rest, come again tomorrow."

Just as Liang Chaoxu was about to push open the door after Tian Miao left, a series of hurried footsteps came from the end of the corridor.

He turned his head to look.

Jiang You ran from the end of the corridor with a worried look on his face, pushed him aside, and went straight into the ward.

Liang Chaoxu stopped and stood at the door, holding onto the doorknob.

Wen Li's eyes were still closed, her face so pale it was almost the same color as the bed sheet.

Jiang You sat down on the edge of the bed, took her hand, and said in a hoarse voice, "Wen Li, I'm back. Open your eyes and look at me."

Wen Li on the bed did not respond.

Jiang You paused, lowering his voice even further: "You said you didn't want me to wait, so I won't. As soon as you wake up, I'll go back to Sydney immediately and never bother you again. Please wake up, okay?"

Wen Li's eyelashes fluttered.

Jiang You didn't notice that he was looking down, his thumb gently stroking the back of her hand.

Liang Chaoxu stood at the door watching, then pushed the door open a few seconds later and went to the bedside.

Wen Li slowly lifted her eyelids, her gaze sweeping between the two people before finally settling on Jiang You's face. Her voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible: "Senior Jiang You... why are you back?"

"It's me." Jiang You nodded. "I'm back. I'm glad you're awake."

Liang Chaoxu was visibly taken aback for a moment, then turned and left the ward: "I'll go get the doctor."

After the examination, the doctor instructed, "She needs to rest for a while and shouldn't be moved around too much. You family members should keep a close eye on her condition tonight."

Liang Chaoxu turned to look at Jiang You, and Jiang You also turned to look at him. Neither of them spoke, their eyes met briefly in the air before shifting away, both looking at Wen Li.

Wen Li leaned against the pillows and slowly said, "Jiang You, you should go back and rest first."

Jiang You pursed his lips: "Call me anytime if you need anything."

After saying that, he turned and left the hospital.

He came back secretly this time, so his mother wouldn't know. Otherwise, she would make things difficult for Wen Li again.

Only Wen Li and Liang Chaoxu remained in the ward.

"What do you want to eat? I'll go buy it." Liang Chaoxu walked to the bedside and asked her softly.

Wen Li shook her head and closed her eyes again.

Liang Chaoxu fed her water, turned off the light, and then sat down quietly by her bedside to keep her company.

The room was quiet, with only the beeping of medical instruments.

"Liang Chaoxu," Wen Li began, her voice very soft.

"Hmm." Liang Chaoxu looked at her.

"I used to think that it would be great if I suddenly had an accident someday. I wouldn't have to do anything myself, nor would I have to take any responsibility, and I could just say goodbye to this terrible world like that."

Wen Li's eyes were closed, as if she were talking to herself.

Liang Chaoxu remained silent for a long time, his heart feeling as if it were being squeezed tightly, making it hard for him to breathe.

His voice trembled slightly as he spoke: "So, do you still think that way now?"

Wen Li did not answer immediately.

Her breathing was shallow, and her fingers curled slightly on the blanket, as if she were thinking about something, or perhaps just tired. After a long while, she whispered, "I don't know."

Liang Chaoxu leaned forward slightly, reached out and took her hand, and asked in a low voice, "Wen Li, are you willing...?"

Would you be willing to see me as a little bit of beauty in this world, and then live a good life?

He paused for a moment, thinking to himself: She has just woken up, I can't put too much pressure on her.

When he spoke again, Liang Chaoxu changed his tone: "You still haven't paid back the money you owe me. Don't say such discouraging things again, understand?"

Wen Li moved her fingers and gently squeezed his fingertips back: "Okay."

"Go to sleep, you'll feel better after a good night's sleep." Liang Chaoxu squeezed her hand and tucked her in.

After seeing that Wen Li was fast asleep, Liang Chaoxu got up and left the ward, went to the doctor's office, and talked with the doctor about Wen Li's condition for a while.

"Her condition is the most dangerous. As her family members, you should make sure to communicate and chat with her more often and spend more time with her."

"Okay, thank you, doctor."
