After listening, Fu Qing turned to look at Su Wen.

Suwen had already landed from mid-air, put away the bronze plate, and blood was still hanging from the corner of her mouth.

Her face was as pale as a sheet of paper, and her steps were unsteady, but she still maintained that cold expression when she stood in front of the lion demon.

She squatted down, took out a porcelain bottle from her medicine pouch, poured out a dark red pill, held it in her palm, and extended it to the lion demon.

Open your mouth.

The lion demon glanced at Fu Qing, his Adam's apple bobbed again, and he obediently opened his mouth.

Suwen threw the pill into his mouth, closed his jaw, and lifted him up, causing the pill to slide down his throat. The lion demon shivered.

"This medicine is laced with Gu poison. You should know that I am from the Medicine Palace, and concocting poisons and medicines is my specialty."

Suwen stood up and wiped her hands on her clothes.

"If you disobey me, I'll kill you right now! You can run, run to the Demon Emperor's Palace, and see if the apothecary there can cure my poison."

The lion monster's face fell instantly.

He looked down at his stomach, then looked up at Su Wen's icy face, and muttered,

"Humans are indeed ruthless. That General, your wife is even more ruthless than you."

"She is not the lady." Fu Qing sheathed his sword.

"Who is that to you?"

"My doctor."

"A doctor?"

The lion-like monster's eyes widened. "The healer poisoned me? Are you human healers here to save lives or to kill them?"

"Do it all," Suwen replied expressionlessly.

The lion-like monster shrank back, no longer daring to ask any more questions.

Fu Qing asked him what his name was, and he answered in a muffled voice.

"In the Demon Emperor's Palace, they call me Lion Madman."

Fu Qing thought for a moment, "I'll call you Leo from now on."

What is a Leo?

"That's my mount."

"If it's a mount, why is it called Leo?"

"Why are you talking so much nonsense? Just call me Leo, that's all." Fu Qing sheathed his sword.

Leo opened his mouth as if to say something, but Suwen glared at him and shut him up.

He resignedly stood up, shook off the pebbles and embers of demonic fire from his mane, and lowered his limbs so that Fu Qing and Su Wen could ride on his back. His back was as broad as a stone platform, and his scales were slightly hot from the residual heat of the demonic fire, making it quite stable to sit on.

"Which way?" Leo turned his head to look at Fu Qing.

"Let's find a place to rest first. Suwen needs to regulate her breathing, and I need to treat my wounds. Then—" Fu Qing looked up at the sky above the mountain stream, which was cut into a thin blue line by the mountain wall, "Let's fight our way back to Wan Gu Valley."

Fu Qing made Leo reveal its true form. Leo lay on all fours, let out a low roar, and its dark golden scales shimmered with a flowing demonic fire. Its size swelled under the infusion of demonic energy, transforming into a giant lion with a shoulder height of nearly ten feet.

Fu Qing helped Su Wen mount the lion's back, and then he climbed on himself.

Suwen leaned against him, closed her eyes to regulate her breathing, and placed the copper plate on her lap. The runes had all gone out, but her complexion was better than before.

"Walk deeper into the mountain stream..."

Fu Qing patted Leo's mane. "Let's see if there's a way out ahead."

Leo took a step forward and walked along the bottom of the ravine.

The mountain walls on both sides narrowed further and further, and the sky above was squeezed into a thin blue line.

Poisonous insects crawled among the pebbles underfoot from time to time. A few of the bolder ones even tried to climb onto Leo's legs, but were startled by his low roar and tumbled over, shrinking back into the crevices of the rocks, too afraid to move.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, the mountain wall in front of them suddenly receded to the sides, and the sunlight overhead abruptly disappeared. They had entered a natural underground passage.

The passage was pitch black. Fu Qing took out a tinderbox from his pocket, but before he could blow it on, a faint glow suddenly appeared on the surrounding rock walls.

The light emanated from the densely packed fungi growing on the rock walls, one after another, stretching from the entrance of the passage all the way to the end of the line of sight, illuminating the entire underground cavern as bright as day.

Suwen opened his eyes and stared at the fungi for a long time. Suddenly, he jumped off the back of the Leo and squatted down in front of the nearest fungus. He gently touched the glowing cap with his fingertips.

"This is a luminous Ganoderma lucidum."

Her tone unusually carried a hint of fluctuation.

"A spiritual herb that has been extinct for countless years. The records in the Medicine Palace state that this thing only grows in the deepest places where there is no sunlight, and it takes hundreds of years to grow to maturity."

"These luminous Ganoderma lucidum mushrooms are several times larger than the illustrations in the ancient books, indicating that no one has been here for at least a thousand years."

She plucked a small piece of the mushroom cap and placed it in her palm. The cap emitted a pale blue fluorescent light in her hand, making her fingers appear translucent.

Leo leaned in and sniffed, his wet nose almost touching Suwen's face, but Suwen slapped it away.

"There were a few of these in the Demon Emperor's Palace's medicine storehouse. They were said to be able to prolong life, but they were much smaller than this, no bigger than a thumb at most."

Fu Qing looked around.

This underground cavern was clearly not formed naturally; the rock walls were covered with ancient runes, which stretched densely from the ground to the top of the cave.

He walked along the runes, and the passage widened as he went, with murals beginning to appear on the rock walls on both sides.

The painting depicts thousands of troops fighting on the battlefield, with two leaders—one wearing a royal robe and holding a square seal with a coiled dragon, and the other wielding a long sword. Wherever the sword points, the enemy troops retreat in disarray.

At the end of the passage was a stone palace.

The runes on the four walls of the stone hall were more than twice as dense as those outside, and each rune was faintly glowing, illuminating the entire stone hall as if it were daytime.

In the center of the hall is a three-foot-high circular stone platform, on which sits a jade box.

The jade box is light blue, and the lid is engraved with two people standing side by side, each holding an object in their hands.

There are also a few lines of ancient seal script on the box, which roughly means that the box contains the remains of the Medicine God, a precious treasure obtained by the first king of Yue from the ruins, and left to the descendants of Feng to repay Feng Changyang for saving his life.

Upon hearing Feng Changyang mentioned, Fu Qing was startled and stunned.

Upon seeing the jade box, Leo excitedly took a step forward, only to be pulled back by Fu Qing's mane.

"etc."

Fu Qing looked over and saw something slowly wriggling in the shadows in front of the stone platform.

It was a giant python, dark green in color, with a thick layer of moss covering its scales.

It had been lurking in the shadows for countless years, and the color of its scales had blended into the stone wall, making it impossible to distinguish without close inspection.

The giant python slowly raised its head, its vertical pupils burning with eerie green demonic flames. The concentration of those flames was far greater than that of the Leo constellation, and each leap caused the air in the stone hall to tremble slightly.

The Leo's legs started trembling, and his voice changed tone.

"We can't beat this, we really can't beat this—this is a thousand-year-old snake demon, even older than my great-great-grandfather! Look at its scales, they've been tempered with demonic fire for at least a thousand years, attacks of the same level simply can't break through them!"

"We have to fight even if we can't win, or we'll be finished!"

Fu Qing drew his cold iron sword; the dark blue light on the blade gleamed coldly in the glow of the luminous lingzhi mushroom.

"We must obtain the remains."
