It's hard to quit, but it's the perfect marriage!

Chapter 43 "Our relationship lately isn't quite right."

"I won't look."

Zhu Xi couldn't stand the smug look on Zhou Yinghuai's face, so she rubbed against his shoulder and walked into the dormitory.

Deliberately provoking him, she stared unblinkingly into his eyes, raised her right leg, and closed the door.

It made a loud thud, quite a loud one.

The voice, like Zhu Xi's at this moment, seemed very powerful.

Clearly, Zhou Yinghuai, who had seen many grand occasions and was used to being tormented by Zhou Lingyi, remained calm as usual.

Zhu Xi's temper was nothing compared to Zhou Lingyi's.

Although, every strand of her hair seemed to be strutting triumphantly at Zhou Yinghuai.

Zhou Yinghuai's lips moved slightly, one hand on his hip, "If you don't want to look..."

Zhu Xi's pent-up frustration from the rooftop was starting to spread, as if she had caught the culprit, and she didn't give Zhou Yinghuai a chance to speak at all.

They were determined to get revenge and make up for all the losses they had suffered at the hands of the director.

Unfortunately, the dormitory is too small.

Zhu Xi's clamorous heart was still confined to this dormitory, which was bigger than before but smaller than other places.

Undeterred, she added, "I won't watch!"

After yelling, she turned around defiantly.

As usual, Zhou Yinghuai wore a white shirt and black trousers, with the shirt cuffs rolled up to his elbows, exposing his forearms.

Even at such a dark and stormy time, his hair was still neatly styled and not messy at all.

Standing in the light and shadow, surrounded by allure.

Hearing her so forceful and unreasonable, he just smiled faintly.

They didn't say anything.

The flames that Zhu Xi had just started immediately shrunk, and the soaring flames instantly turned into red embers.

A scarlet light, eyes lowered, picking at his hands.

Her face flushed red, and she silently berated herself for acting this way.

She secretly glanced at him out of the corner of her eye.

The tall man, as if nothing had happened, continued to act virtuous and gentle, even tidying her bed.

This nonchalant man successfully dispelled Zhu Xi's guilt once again.

She rolled her eyes again, acting strangely, and blamed all the hard work the director had assigned her on Zhou Yinghuai, who had arrived without prior notice.

"I've been quite busy this past week, and I haven't had time to get to know you since you've come."

The phrase "understand each other" was emphasized so heavily that it was almost said with gritted teeth and hatred.

Zhou Yinghuai was folding the sheets he had changed, and as if he hadn't heard anything, he just said, "Hmm."

"When are you going abroad?" she asked again. "Haven't you finished dealing with things yet?"

"It will take a few more days," Zhou Yinghuai replied.

Seeing him busy, Zhu Xi turned around and glanced at the food he had brought.

The packaging has been changed this time.

It's completely different from before.

Her stomach was empty; she pursed her lips, her eyes calm.

Despite his repeated restraint, he ultimately wanted to satisfy his cravings.

She pouted, turned around dejectedly, and said before Zhou Yinghuai could speak, "I'm hungry."

Zhou Yinghuai, who was spreading out the pillows, straightened up slightly, smiled, and sucked at her, "You eat."

Zhu Xi's voice was somewhat downcast, "Aren't you going to eat?"

"I've already eaten," Zhou Yinghuai smiled. "That was specially brought for you."

"Oh." Zhu Xi pulled out a chair and sat down, tucking the half-written thesis between the pages of the thick book, and took out rice from a bag full of food containers.

As soon as he put it down, Zhou Yinghuai laughed, as if he hadn't been the one who had just been chased away, "Don't you wash your hands every time you come back?"

Zhu Xi paused in her movements.

Her fair face was half red.

Zhou Yinghuai arranged the pillows and walked to her desk.

The streetlights were on, completely casting the two of them in the same light and shadow.

"Are you preoccupied?" Zhou Yinghuai had noticed earlier that she seemed preoccupied today.

Zhu Xi stared at the rectangular food box in her hand, her gaze heavy, surrounded by a cool, lingering fragrance.

Zhou Yinghuai was also looking at her.

Seeing her suddenly cold profile, her lowered eyes, and her knuckles turning white from straining, I said, "Zhu Xi, you can tell me what's on your mind."

Zhu Xi sighed deeply, and after a few deep breaths, she had calmed down.

Before she looked up, she had already returned to her usual playful and lively self.

"I have something on my mind," Zhu Xi said with a grin, plopping down in the comfortable ergonomic chair and leaning back lazily. "I have a lot on my mind."

He then spread his hands innocently and said, "Can't you eat if you have something on your mind?"

Zhou Yinghuai could easily tell that she was putting on an act, but he couldn't bear to press her any further.

He went to the refrigerator and got her a bottle of lime juice, which the housekeeper had made herself.

The now-cooled bottle gently pressed against the back of her hand. "Eat."

Zhu Xi's dark eyes flickered. "Thank you."

This was the most peaceful night we'd had in nearly a month of spending time together.

Zhu Xi ate dinner alone while Zhou Yinghuai opened his tri-fold folding desk to handle official business.

The dormitory is quiet and cool.

The two remained silent.

Zhu Xi was full after eating only half of it.

She put down her chopsticks, looked at the red roses in the vase on the windowsill, and rubbed her lower abdomen.

"I can't finish it," she said softly.

Zhou Yinghuai looked away from his phone screen, first glancing at her bright eyes, then glancing at her hand resting on her lower abdomen.

He asked with concern, "Are you feeling unwell?"

Zhu Xi shook her head, "Not very hungry."

Zhou Yinghuai smiled gently, "This is the first time I've heard you say you're not very hungry."

Zhu Xi took a big gulp of lime juice, quite boldly, "It's probably because the cafeteria chefs have been cooking so well lately, I don't even miss it..."

"Don't you miss me coming?" Zhou Yinghuai replied smoothly, chuckling self-deprecatingly. "Have I been coming too often lately?"

Zhu Xi's inherent rebelliousness began to sprout, "to a certain extent."

She was cool and aloof. "Our relationship lately... something's not right."

Three strikes and Zhu Xi stopped arguing with Zhou Yinghuai.

The fire she caused at the city gate should not have affected Zhou Yinghuai, who had been taking care of her feelings.

Zhu Xi paused for a moment, then reached out and tidied up the unfinished food, putting it in the refrigerator.

Zhou Yinghuai offered to help, but she politely declined, saying, "It's alright, you go ahead with your work."

She looked at Zhou Yinghuai, her eyes regaining their usual clarity and brightness. "When I'm not busy, I can do these chores too. You don't need to bother taking care of me; I'm not a giant baby."

Zhu Xi took out an alcohol wipe and wiped the table, saying as she did so, "I can't repay you for what you've done for me in a short time."

Given her current work situation, due to the nature of her job as a chief resident, she can only leave the hospital one day a week.

Even after moving into the marital home, on her day off, she still wanted to sleep, she really, really wanted to sleep.

"You don't need to pay me back." Zhou Yinghuai saw through her inner turmoil at a glance. "However, if you do want to pay me back, I do have something I need your help with recently."

"Zhu Xi, I need you."
